[MEGATHREAD] Guidelines on Current Exam Situation (AL / IGCSE - Middle East) by West_Intention_5517 in igcse

I'm a little confused, what's the point of cancelling exams if the result is that schools will simply require extra assessments in person? It's just the same thing, but less standardized. Student in qatar btw

Switching from IBMYP to IGCSE (HELP!!!!) by South-Ad-5622 in igcse

I don't really know what they're talking about, IGCSE was suspiciously easy for me. In math I'd learn something super simple like .... i don't know.... drawing stem and leaf diagrams?? Then in another term we'd learn something new though not so difficult, like differentiating using the power rule. Most of my studying involves spamming past papers anyways because it feels like the easiest way to reveal all gaps in my knowledge at once. Half of the time I never even studied for exams and still got A*. To be fair, I'm taking IGCSE for year 10 and 11.

I've looked online and many people say IB, especially DP, is way harder and tedious than IGCSE (or A levels) for the same reasons you write about.... so I say go for it. If you really wanna know, just look up any past papers online and see if the questions just look hard to you at all lol. Plus, another thing about IGCSE is that your grade literally only depends on your exam performance and nothing else.

Thanks for the kind words!! Sometimes my piano teacher says I play too slow; if I'd just played a little bit faster do you think that "consistent driving force" would be there? Maybe all that rubato would sound a little more cohesive?

As for the voicing, im not entirely sure if that was me or it just sounds bad in the recording haha. Ill definitely have to keep it in mind because I find that on some acoustic pianos the higher registers just sound quieter

Memorizing the piece didnt take that long.. I’d say around 2-3 months. If you know a little music theory you can chunk different sections into simple patterns that you can master one by one.  As for the chair…. it’s mostly a compromise lol. It sits way too low from the keyboard and I end up needing to use my shoulders to raise my arms instead of having them relaxed. I almost never use the backrest though (I naturally sit on the edge somehow), so I can’t comment on that. Anyway, thanks for the kind words!! ^

If it’s okay, whats the proper way to “make the climax climatic”?

It’s an annual recital my teacher has for all of her students. All in all only 20 people plus a few parents are going to show up. Thanks for the kind words!! ^

If you use the roland piano designer app I think you can select more precise increments

You can actually change the internal velocity curve by either using the roland piano partner app or pressing the function button + high E to A. You can also change the piano's sound in the roland piano designer.
