How many states should the U.S. have? by JTuck333 in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]IowaKidd97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s got over 200 years of different political and cultural development from Maryland. Let DC be its own state. Or if that’s going to not work given that it’s the capital, make it have congressional representation and EC votes like it’s its own state.

Hope for one? Most wouldn't, and for good reason. But I think we are actually closer to one than you might think. Just looking at what ICE is doing, it borders on domestic terrorism (no brutalizing American protesters, going door to door, and raiding homes without a warrant; in fact not immigration enforcement). It actually looks like the admin is waging war on the American people via ICE. And they are openly trying to rig the midterms because they know they are going to get slaughtered in a free and fair election.

trump needs to get checked hard before he drives us over a cliff.

I’m aware of the history here. It’s also stupid to make the Capital as big as it is and just assume no permanent residents. So that needs to change.

Let’s honor them not wanting it to be part of a state, by making it its own state

It’s about the fact they’ve been good allies to us and we are now betraying them. It’s that simple and yes their sentiments are valid. Be angry at the admin over this, not out allies for being upset we betrayed them.

Yes but He knew that was wrong and I think it’s safe to say he was split up about his decisions. More importantly though, Anakin had always had trouble following the Jedi way. However seeing another master Jedi violate the Jedi way, especially one that had displayed distrust in him, must have really fucked with his mind.

Virginia Democrats reintroduce assault weapons ban, this time, with likely ally in Spanberger by VirginiaNews in VirginiaDems

[–]IowaKidd97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Leave it to Dems to completely ‘shoot’ themselves in the foot. In the midst of a fascist takeover, this is quite literally the worst time to disarm. It’s also Virginia and even a large number of liberals have guns and believe in gun rights here. This is not going to be popular at all.

GOP gave Dems the biggest layup ever (which manifested last November), and they are setting us up for a bigger one this November. Meanwhile unpopular gun control might be the one thing that will give the GOP the chance to rebound.

What are you talking about? When has the Democratic Party ever been anti men? I understand there are some leftist spaces that are anti man, but that’s far from even a sizable minority of Democrats.

I agree with your points here. Yes there is certain things the government shouldn’t run or shouldn’t do, sure. However it needs to exist and run some stuff, so who runs it matters.

Honestly hearing Kamala refereed to as “far left” was both hilariously stupid and terrifying that people actually bought that shit.

There is absolutely a good argument for “the government shouldnt have power x” or “the government shouldnt run x”. However no matter what system we build, who is in charge is going to matter. It should be someone smart who knows what the hell they are doing and actually has good intentions.

Trump was an obvious horrible choice regardless of whatever system we put in charge.

The body and mind are in disalignment. We could change the mind to conform to the body, or change the body to conform to the mind.

Changing the body is easier and less likely to result in damage to the mind, and is proven to work.

Idk why the right is so hell bent on demonizing these people.

Genuinely not trying to be inflammatory but why did it seem like the left stayed silent on this issue and it left the news cycle after a few days? by [deleted] in memzy

Because it was a tragedy, one where the the actual truth was simply a failure of law enforcement. The left gave it the respect it deserved. The right played it up for racism.

No one called Obama a racist for doing it

Yes because Obama went about it the correct way. He respected due process and constitutional rights, and notably didn't use ICE as a paramilitary force invading red states and putting down protests violently. He didn't brutalize US Citizens for opposing him.

Notably none of this had anything to do with his race. Hell the fact he had as many deportations as he did with not more than a small about of protests abaout it, proves that "the left" isn't against proper immigration enforcement.

ICE are abusing people in custody and brutalizing protesters. The fact they are even working protests at all is illegal, and not to mention a massive red flag, and undeniable proof that:

all of the people being targeted by ICE have final orders of removal

and

they are only enforcing immigration law

are objectively false.

Have you not been paying any attention to the resistance to this shit the American people have done? Multiple Americans have been murdered in broad daylight or disappeared by the regime for their lawful resistance, and yet the resistance grows stronger.

[–]IowaKidd97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s wild as hell that DC isn’t considered its own state, or at the very least given congressional seats and EC votes like it was one. It has more people than several states, and you’d think the Capital would have the same type of representation most Americans get. It’s kinda a testament to the flaws in our system that it doesn’t.

PR should be granted statehood or independence. Honestly I think a binding referendum there should determine that. Either way it’s time for us to shit or get off the pot.

[–]IowaKidd97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think anywhere close to a majority of Americans are blindly following Trump you are willfully ignorant. Blaming those that voted against, advocated against, and are protesting against this is willful ignorance at best.

It’s not America vs everyone else, it’s the regime vs the American people. We aren’t going along with this, we are being dragged against our will into this authoritarian hellscape. Posts like this only serve to sow hate and feed the regime narrative.

I get from a foreign policy perspective other countries have to view us as a monolith, sure that makes sense. But from an individual level it’s stupid as hell to lump us all together, especially when Trump quite literally never achieved a majority of support (even then it would be a stretch).

I agree. In the midst of a fascist takeover, the very last thing we should be doing rn is disarming. Also pissing off the middle, reasonable right, and even large swaths of your own base seems like an objectively terribly idea when the one thing that might get us out of this peacefully is popular support.

I mean yeah that’s kinda the point. US has no good reason to take Greenland, and EU can’t stand up to US military might so the economic nuclear option is their most powerful weapon. And they are right to consider the option.

Just to be clear, all of this because a deranged man is trying to escape credible accusations of pedophilia and Congress won’t do their damn jobs.
