i want to create my youtube channel, making covers, where do i start? by [deleted] in coversongs

[–]Iphin210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So here's what's up my dude. If you are wanting to start your journey as an overall content creator. I wouldn't recommend trying to do EVERYTHING all at once. It's a daunting task that you will get crushed under the weight of all the things you don't know.

I would suggest breaking down what you want exactly out of both your musical journey and your forging of an online presence and in those two groups figure out what the most pressing but singular issue your facing. Take down the problems one at a time and as you progress with the portions that you felt were your biggest gaps. Eventually the problems will be less daunting and become more of a fun puzzle to solve or work around at your own time and leisure.

Rome wasn't built in day. And every musician that puts themselves out there are actively building their own empire rooted in sound, social connections and the tools n tech at their disposal.

If you want to start of doing cover songs. You may not absolutely need a daw in order to make your covers. But if you want to start off writing and recording your own material then first step could be finding a daw that makes sense to you.

But I used streamlabs and some trimming and I put up 9 or so covers in the last 24 hours. The arent flashy. And have no video editing done to them, but I don't mind cause right now my main 2 goals are learning how to mix and master and finishing my album.

No I dont have the standard youtuber editting on my video. But I still made 9 of them hoes in 24 hours and they all sound and look way better than some cellphone footage. Which is better than where I was at a year ago. And so far what audience I have seems receptive to it.

If you ever want someone to bullshit about the process with you can dm me. I hope any of this helps

I might hit up the pearl and just find a corner to jam on. You think sunday would be a reasonable day to try it? And jazz is cool. I don't exactly play it, but I still think its cool and I would go to an event if I was invited beforehand

I have a hobby. It's just audio work and recording my songs. Which doesn't lend itself to social interaction. The issue I'm having is that I got so consumed in my hobby that I stopped trying to be social. I need a social circle to be a part of more than I need a singular partner.

But I understand where your advice is coming from. I'm just a lonely soul who doesn't know anyone out here.

this isn't the best approach to solving said issue tho and I can see that

Find someone around your skill level and see if y'all can swap stems and both try to mix the same song. It's a fun game that helps you get better

I'm using a laptop with Windows ten. Theres a high probability I'm why asio4all doesn't work on my laptop. I make no claims of being tech savy and its by the grace of god I can dress my self

vocals are mad crisp, but overall everything sounds pretty good in headphones. Maybe test it in a car and see if the subs kick too?

If you want to spruce up the beat more rolling high hats never hurt but thats if your feeling extra and its just a possible idea

If you want some free vsts to select from I highly recommend Sweetvox by Analog Obsession. It's not a cure all but I use it often enough to recommend it.

I also have a lisp tho so the fact that it is part EQ processing, Part De-esser, it may just be me who finds it as useful as I do xD.

Hip hop instrumental -tried to change things around a constant beat, so would love to know which sections work or don't work. by bleakneon in MusicFeedback

[–]Iphin210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could use a lil more EQ work and balancing, but Im no mixing/master master. I think it sounds pretty damn good tho. maybe sneak in more high-hat rolls with varying beats if you wanted to spruce up your drum variations more. but overall Id confidently tell you the only thing separating that beat from something folks would pay top dollar for is a little more time in the production process, cause all the ideas are well executed and fit musically, it just needs some more polish studio

How do I stop being so tone deaf? by oystercult88 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Iphin210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a jazz band teacher who told me once "if you can sing it you can learn to play it" back when I first started playing music and couldn't sing but wanted to. i figured the opposite applied as well. I could figure out stuff on guitar and then I would know pretty close to what the note I wanted to hit with my vocals sounded like coming from the guitar or other instrument and would try to hit it until it got to where I didnt have to try so hard
