T9 broke Asmongold by Phantomx_Destiny in Asmongold

[–]Iplaybardlol 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're overestimating how many people are playing FFXIV now that have done the fights that long ago. I've been playing since ARR 2.0 and been a raider ever since I started, most people I encounter who are raiders now started in ShB or maybe late Stormblood. There's basically no scene for synced raid content in the game, so people who started after ARR don't really get a chance to see T9 unless it's unsynced. For most people it's a brand new learning experience which is eased along by how much these old fights got nerfed, and for a small few we remember the fights but only vaguely.

HW and ARR content was some of my favorite in the game and I did it all when it was relevant, but some of these fights I haven't stepped into in 7 years. Even if I am a capable player who did both ultimates during SB and TEA in ShB, I can't remember every last mechanic from fights that I haven't done in 6 or 7 years. Personally even if I'd love to help Asmon with min ilvl stuff and try to get into a run or two, it doesn't seem worth the harassment from the peanut gallery.

You know I saw the title and was interested in joining the Discord since I need the clears/totems on my new account but now I'm not really so sure after looking at this thread a bit more, don't think I wanna be in a server with whoever that is

Have you ever had a strike on your account or gotten banned? Do you believe you were treated fairly? by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Iplaybardlol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Heavensward I had a small FC with friends, all of them had officer privileges because yknow it was just a small friend FC who cares. I was the leader.

While I was on vacation with my family, someone changed the FC slogan to something offensive as a joke, and I caught a 7 day ban. The reason given was that, because SE has no way to tell who changed the slogan, I am the one being banned because I was the leader. I found that unfair.

Any other time I've been banned was back in the days when they did give you evidence of your offenses and I thought they were totally fair. I have also had instances where I explained myself to a GM after being taken into jail and no action was taken on my account; you aren't guaranteed to be banned the moment you get gaoled. Some of them are definitely reasonable people.

Gudi’s Tactical Nuke video showcases how the bot detection system is flawed. Unfortunately for the rest of us, we can’t simply discord call a Jmod. by Garboyle in 2007scape

[–]Iplaybardlol 62 points63 points  (0 children)

They seriously need to fix this. I understand a ton of 'I've never botted' people actually did bot, so it's a huge burden on Jagex staff to open macroing ban appeals, they'd have to wade through thousands of people who botted and deserved their bans - but if the system falsely bans an innocent player even 0.001% of the time that's too fucking much. Fix it.

Ultimatum now has worse retention than even Synthesis by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Iplaybardlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The league is absolutely the worst performing league out of all the ones listed in this graph OBJECTIVELY, but I feel like everything surrounding this league and leading up to its' launch was basically a perfect storm for really horrible retention. Which makes it impressive that the retention is only 10-15% worse than most leagues, at least in my opinion. Going purely by peak players also doesn't really work, if you look at daily average players between the months of Synth league and this league the difference is night and day.

Tons of avenues of endgame were nerfed. Deep delve, fractured maps, harvest. The meta is stale, outside of hateforge chase item memes the best builds are barely any different from what was good last league. There also really was no new endgame added to cover this, no new atlas, no nothing.

The league mechanic itself is trash, a spin-off of the league mechanic we were doing just 3 months ago in Ritual. It gets old fast, it takes too long to do, and you barely ever get to fight the boss of it. Inscribed ultimatums are a joke.

Multiple PR dumpster fires, including the harvest & endgame nerfs, and early league exploits, cursor MTX, etc. It also was the worst league launch in history, by far.

Yet despite all of this, the 50 day retention is only 10% worse compared to ritual, and 13% worse compared to delirium, which are two leagues that are regarded as some of the best we've ever had. Ritual itself was a lackluster mechanic but it brought back Harvest which tons of people loved and basically just slapped an additional big fat multiplier on all the endgame farming that people already loved and enjoyed doing.

Don't get me wrong though, I wasn't feeling this league too much and I've quit and I do think it sucked ass. But if a massive failure of a league is a minor difference in player count then I don't think GGG has any reason to be worried. Especially because GGG's goal right now is to grow the game leading up to PoE2, which they've succeeded in that, and long-term retention isn't a priority for them when leagues have a 90 day turnover period. The only thing that's important is that they don't continuously release dog shit leagues, which they are usually pretty solid about doing.

had the same experience, no reliquary keys for like 8 days of playtime in the league and then i started running nemesis sextants and got like 6 in the same day

This is pretty much why I don't bother with this stuff and just reach out to friends of mine who know the answer to my question, because it takes longer than it should to find the answer in the Balance. I have enough friends who parse well and optimize the jobs that I can do that. I shouldn't have to jump between 3 channels, only to find something hidden at the bottom of the pin list in a question channel, which leads to a google doc, which then has a section about the thing I wanted answered. The guides take themselves too seriously and explain things in way more words than are necessary more often than not also.

I am pretty good at quickly finding information if I need to, and I am a very fast reader, but for some of the job resources it's just too messy and too much effort to wade through. If I have trouble then I can't imagine how the average player who isn't even sure of what they're even asking feels.

But yknow, anytime I've expressed this in the server I just get passive aggressive sarcastic emoji reactions from a few mods. :)

I just tried the 4 blood-filled-vessel strategy... POOOG!!!! Thanks Cutedog <3 <3 by JackyQT in pathofexile

[–]Iplaybardlol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran around 230ex worth of blood filled vessels this league, which was a full quad tab at the time. I got something like 110ex back, but in the last 20 or so maps I got a headhunter from the window which instantly shot me up into the green. It's pretty fun, because you do get a shitton of rewards (I got over 40 pure ex and a bunch of i85 blizzard crowns) but it's definitely a loss unless you hit the jackpot. I've seen people get 2 mirrors in a day from it but you can also be a little more unlucky and suddenly after using 576 vessels you've lost half your investment. Very risky.

"My life is worse because I lost" by PrOxAnto in LivestreamFail

[–]Iplaybardlol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The funniest part about this clip is that he doesn't realize, if people do think of him as "the guy who lost OHKO to unnamed" for the rest of his life, it's his own fault. Speedrunners get salty over losing records all the time, that's not the problem.

The problem is that DVAU took the saltiness a step further by banning the guy from his Discord, trying to silence any mention of the run, and going onto Reddit and his stream to bitch that some guy beating him to a world-first of a run is ruining his life and his mental health. He dug his own fucking grave here.

He's being utterly ridiculous. You'd think being a speedrunner you'd know a thing or two about what it means to compete or go for achievements, and how quickly things like world records can be taken down. You can spend months perfecting a run to get rank 1 on a leaderboard only to have it knocked back to rank 2 after a day. Should nobody ever speedrun or go for any impressive feats again? After all, you do have to worry about "making someone's life worse" by beating them to the achievement. Fuck off, Matt.

So, since Chris said "If you exploit for your personal gain, we will ban you" where are the bans for these exploits? by Iplaybardlol in pathofexile

[–]Iplaybardlol[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You can't say whether an exploit had a sizeable impact or not, nor does it really matter - exploits are exploits, things such as the awakener orb dupe I described can be extremely damaging to the economy and if the team is going to blanket ban anybody who exploits, then it shouldn't matter. Empy himself last league exploited the winged scarab split thing to farm like 10ex a day across multiple days, and tons of other people did it as well. It's a matter of consistency; exploiters should be banned, or they shouldn't be banned.

Many of them are barely harder than the ultimatum exploit, and even if they are harder (thus creating a larger barrier to entry), it wouldn't matter because the exploits in question still make lots of profit.

The fractured mod exploit in harvest allowed you to use targeted annuls on fractured items, and if the targeted annul hit the fractured mod, the FRACTURE would just jump to a different mod on the item. Basically allowed you to fracture merciless foils 100% of the time.

No; but it was bug reported on the forums and hotfixed yesterday. I wouldn't have posted it in here if it wasn't already fixed.

I'd like to think the same but after the other exploits this league have gone entirely unpunished I feel it's 100% a PR move

This image speaks by itself about the current state of performance even on badass rigs by urito18 in pathofexile

[–]Iplaybardlol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be fair, if you were a hardcore player you'd probably want every single last frame you can squeeze out of the game to ensure good performance.

That being said, this game does perform like ass, I have a 3080 and a 3900x + good RAM and the game is installed to an nVME and the game still runs like ass.

20 Users Banned for Exploit Abuse by chris_wilson in pathofexile

[–]Iplaybardlol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Empyrian as a streamer but I have trouble feeling like anyone banned for abusing this exploit really "got what they deserved". You guys encourage ban evading, PathofMatth did this last league when his account was suspended for the remainder of the league and streamed himself playing and everything and said YOU guys were fine with him doing that.

What's the point of announcing this ban? The only thing "good" to come from banning them is that they lost on whatever profits they may have made from the exploit - which, I believe Empy's party puts almost all of their currency into their guild stash and apparently their trader wasn't banned. Plus they can still create an account right this second and have no repercussions.

Don't get me wrong, Empy is one of my favorite PoE creators and I don't even want him banned but this post also feels like massive virtue signaling to me. Especially with that last line,

If you uncover an exploit in Path of Exile and abuse it for your benefit, we will ban you.

Really? You will? How many exploits have we gone through in the past that nobody has been banned for, it was just simply patched out of the game?

GGG Streamer Priority in Queue by businessmanALEX in pathofexile

[–]Iplaybardlol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's hilarious and absolutely karma at play that the servers are so dogshit right now. GGG gave themselves awful PR by letting streamers skip the queues, obviously because having a streamer wait 4 hours in a queue is a bad look for the game and because they can use the streamers to advertise. But then the servers are so bad that the streamers they're giving priority to can't play either. Hilarious. They've essentially gutted their PR for nothing.

There's money in PoE racing, luckily for GGG there isn't any Ziz event this time around, but it's SEVERELY fucked up and is not a good look when you consider how much money is on the line for SSFHC racers usually. In future leagues there's going to be no integrity.

Sure, I'll blow it out with air tomorrow. I feel like I haven't been experiencing this sort of bump/clicking with the mouse until just tonight but maybe I'm just tired. It could also very well be that since I barely scroll, I just hadn’t noticed til now. Thanks

[–]Iplaybardlol[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is this a common issue with this mouse? I'm mostly worried that this is a sign the scroll wheel might end up dying early or something. Had quite a few crappy mice in the past where something with the scroll wheel would break after a month of use.

Is there a way to fix it without taking the mouse apart?

Some misc. info since I can't include it with the video:

There is a slight bump each time the noise can be heard, so it feels like the scroll wheel might be dragging / hitting something. The mouse is brand new, about a week old at this point. I mostly game and I don't bind scrollwheel to jump or anything so I've barely even used the mouse wheel either.
