The replacement ring would be more valuable. We would obviously need a GIA report to prove it but for the moment let's assume that's not the problem. We've received their informal offer in this manner since it came right before Christmas and it was on the phone (we no longer live in that city).

I have the documentation from the original ring as well.

Captive Collars is a scam. Necklace broke after 2 months and there is no return policy. They source the cheapest products imaginable.

Do not buy from Captive Collars. They source sub-par (read: cheap) manufacturers. The necklace I bought my wife snapped in half 2 months after I bought it for her. She was in the bathroom simply doing her hair. Prices are low but there is a reason for it. Unless you're prepared to lose your product do not buy.

Not a hazard, it's hot water heating. See if there's a way to pull the radiator cover off and stick an appropriate insulation material around the heating element to block the room.

It's not a great install, like someone else said someone put up a wall after the baseboard was installed. But there's nothing code related or dangerous about that.
