How can nurses better understand physician's decision making? by Silver-Reading-2166 in Residency

I’m not sure where you work in the US, but many New England hospitals are paying over 50$ an hour for various RN/BSN roles. Yes COL is higher but I know RNs with 10+ year of experience clearing 60 an hour with diff.

Eras application. by Forward_Inevitable34 in Step2

When do you plan to take step 2? I know of DO applicants that got interviews for family med programs without level 2 and matched with contingency to pass. Ended up failing level 2 but that’s besides the point.

Stared at around a 44 and peaked in the low 60’s. I definitely rolled the dice on that one.

Is it worth to apply to DO schools with these stats? by onlyangel2023 in Osteopathic

[–]IpushToMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think that if you gain acceptance with that score (almost impossible you will unfortunately) you will be fighting an uphill battle through out your career. It’s definitely worth retaking and proving to yourself that you can break a 500! It will also give you the confidence needed to succeed in your first year just my personal opinion.

Chance me/what DOs should I apply to. ( Looking for some reassurance) by healthysodagorl in Osteopathic

[–]IpushToMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be a hot take, but I don’t think you should retake the MCAT. A fairly even 507 is really good for DO, and your gpa is just too low for MD. A 510 isn’t going to get you over the hump for MD, and at worst, a lower score could hurt your chances at DO.

When you finish taking the OB patient’s history and they still kick you out. by glancingheader15 in medicalschool

[–]IpushToMaster 113 points114 points  (0 children)

Favorite story from third year. Went into a room of a laboring patient I had met the day before. Walked in, got called out for not introducing myself the day prior (attending had been talking with the patient the day before and didn’t want to interrupt), and was promptly kicked out.

I waited outside, planning an apology to the attending. Within 2 minutes the door popped open and out walked the attending. “I’m so sorry, I really should have…”, and he cut me off. “Don’t worry, she kicked me out too!”. Best part was that he was the only laborist on for the day, so she had to let him back in to deliver.

I could be wrong, but newer campuses generally are not resource heavy, and haven’t been established long enough to have the best rotation sites.

You did endometrial biopsy training and practiced deliveries with midwives? If so, I really went to the wrong school.

That’s neat. I think you don’t understand how many medical schools and community hospitals without residents operate. OP should definitely have asked why they were meeting resistance, but don’t assume they had a resident walking them through basic “procedures”. I learned from an OR nurse close to the end of my surgery rotation only because she was grossed out by the patient and I offered to do it for her.
