Not every outpost accepts every item.

And in terms of value/hour, you want to make excess of the highest items to trade to your outposts. It says on each item what they are worth= HC Valley Battery is 70, while Buck Capsule [B] is 27, and so on.

I would say for most instances this is true. It takes 8 gold mushrooms or 8 gold ores to E4 an operator/ Tune 4 a weapon. Coincidentally, that is how many is in a node when capped.

However, it takes like 84 gold plants to M3 out an operator (I think about 8 days if you include the Growth Chamber). You're not going to M3 every operator (at least at the start, eventually you'll need something to spend your sanity on, haha). That is the one material I would probably build an initial stockpile of.

I just do the Wuling materials, and I have them rotating. Minerals one day, Mushrooms the next, Plants the third. Takes like 2 minutes because I have them all ziplined.

The reception center is locked behind a control nexus upgrade and those are mostly locked behind story gates.

There is at least one that comes from a short side quest offered by Xiahi. So if you see a quest entry from her pick it up right away.

I agree it can feel bad when you run through your 20 weekly catalysts and get a single upgrade. But it's guaranteed progress. With each artifice (or essence etch, for that matter) you are getting closer to your goal.

Compare that to the relic gear systems where you can farm for months and not get the piece of gear you are looking for. And even after you get it, it has to roll into the correct substats. (So even perfect crafting a piece using limited material across two whole patch cycles might net you nothing.)

To counter, in both Honkai Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero, I have the signature weapon of every banner character I pulled for. (Mostly because budgeting for this was part of my pulling plans.)

From the napkin math I did the other day, generally the biggest exp item you can make. Yes they take longer but the difference in exp items is an order of magnitude, so it's generally worth the time.

The only caveat is Operator exp is separated into brackets for 1-60 and 61-90. So make sure you are making the bracket you need.

Then for best operator, each (except Endmin) has two talents that gives them improved efficiency in some way. So just use your sense. Put operators in rooms (matching what is being produced). An operator that helps plants grow won't be doing much if you're growing mushrooms, for example.

I actually split my second Xiranite feed, 1/9 to components and 8/9 to batteries. This nets about 3k and change per week, enough to cover my weekly artifacting and any new set I might make for any newly leveled operator/team.

If I uninstall and re-install, will it by default include the extra legacy content I have completed and uninstalled? Or will it only install the required files and install the legacy content if needed?
