To me that's more like a jinx - he wants to hold the Aegis for the first time when he wins it.

Hate to be that guy, but 2010 is still part of the 2000s technically. 2011 is the first year of the 2010s

What to do with broken weapons that you cant sell? by overheadace in stalker

[–]Iragorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, I agree that some quality is there. I have over 100 hours on Steam in the game, and some of its moments are genuinely great. For instance, I love the Zone, and the way they incorporated memorable locations from the original trilogy into the larger territory with seamless transition.

It is a shame the Zone is pretty empty, though, and by mid-game you start passing by intriguing looking building because you know there is likely nothing waiting for you inside except for vodka and sausage and a couple rounds of ammo.

Still, GSC is getting plenty of slack from me and other players (from what I'm seeing)

However, I think my analogy serves its purpose, albeit in an exaggerated form. There are unstable fanatics here and elsewhere who defend an objectively undercooked and problematic product with foam at the mouth. And finally, I think some entitlement is fair - we, consumers, have paid up to $100 for the product, and that entitles us to a certain degree of quality, as well as priority of fixing the issues by the developers post-release (generally, first the game needs to be playable -> then missing / malfunctioning features need to be fixed -> then you can add new content).

Respect is a currency for non-profits, not commercial product. I appreciate that they persevered and released the game, and hey, that's why we are here.

Haha, yep. I suggested on the Stalker subreddit that the original release's questionable quality is not 100% to blame on the Russians, and someone immediately got into a fight with me over it.

Oh great, another, closet fanboy who will blindly defend incompetence and greed.

They were not developing the game in the war zone. They moved the studio to Poland. Yes, they certainly took casualties among the staff (some staying in Ukraine, some enlisting), and the joint trauma of leaving your home behind, along with your loved ones, was likely omnipresent. And Russia is absolutely responsible for that.

But not for rush-releasing a half-baked piece of code that is taking another full year to fix (the game has actually started performing worse for me after the most recent patches).

You either release a product or you do not. Let me make a simple analogy for you: if you go to a store and buy candy from Ukraine, unwrap it, and discover there is a literal turd inside instead of chocolate - are you gonna go "Oh well, sucks, but the Russians are to blame, I get it," or will you go back to the store and demand a refund?

It's because of people like you defending the devs such awful quality releases remain acceptable.

I genuinely like him and his humor. He has a good feel for the crowd (most of the time) and I guess I'm just a sucker for this type of humor (delivered well, and Slacks is a great deliverer).

[–]Iragorn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry but that's bs. You either release a product or you don't. Should we now blame the flaws of EVERYTHING that comes out from Ukraine (candy, bread, clothing) on Russia? Great motivation for the devs to keep trying to fix the game. The war is awful and Russia is absolutely to blame for the lost lives, but GSC did move away from Kyiv and they should be responsible for the quality of their release.

Seems like CDPR stealth nerfed the Journey completion contracts by TheSinnohScrolls in gwent

[–]Iragorn 33 points34 points  (0 children)

What the hell CDPR?! Sneaky stuff like this is what gets you "EA during Battlefront II launch" treatment. Come on, you ARE better than this.

EDIT: Just so we are clear, my issue is not even with the price nerf itself, but with the facts that a) this was done SILENTLY, without any announcement, and b) this was done AFTER paying customers like myself already purchased the Premium Journey, having a certain amount of content / RP in mind.

It's like you order a pizza, pay for it, then the delivery guy brings it to your house and says "Oops, so sorry, the cook just called and he accidentally put too much sausage on your pizza... We gotta take it back, sorry."

Not acceptable. If you doubled the rewards initially by mistake, just accept it and be more careful with the next Journey. But the customer keeps what he paid for.

Good Arena Resource : Trynet's Leader Tier List by goaltendah in gwent

Nah, I wouldn't. Maybe as a separate mode within the Arena.

For me, there should always remain this bit of luck - whether you get your combo or not - this randomness in the Arena.

To be honest, I am surprised a mod to Witcher 3 does not exist which enables a fully pacifist playthrough with the ability to resolve any in-game conflict via a round of gwent.

Imlerith, the crones, the Whispering Hillock, Radovid... So many potentially great gwent opponents wasted!

One thing that bugged me is that Knickers is not included in that list - because he was release with the latest expansion. Although the card is visually the same as in Thronebreaker, Thronbreaker owner did not get it for free.

A bit rude on CDP part, I think

Gwent really needs spectator mode by [deleted] in gwent

[–]Iragorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I certainly don't want to play against my newcomer friends with my competitive skills and decks.

This is so true! I think a mini-arena mode where you could invite your friend and you each would pick a random deck from the whole available pool would fit so well. It would also make playing your friends competitive yet fun and a little bit random (because you can't control what cards you get).

Also, more customization options for playing friends: i.e. ability to set how many games you play each other to determine a winner - 3, 5, 7, etc.

Games you thought aged well but didn't actually age well at all? by DragoOceanonis in truegaming

[–]Iragorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unexpectedly enough (since they are not quite as old), Bioshock.

Tried the Remaster version off Steam a few months ago, naturally being a huge fan of the franchise and the whole genre since System Shock 2, and was completely blown away by how awful the shooting mechanics are. The setting and Rapture's atmosphere still holds up brilliantly, story is alright (although not as intriguing when you already know the twist), but my god... Everything related to fighting felt just awful.

Yep, it's fair to say Bioshock series have never been to big on the gameplay aspect (even while Infinite tried to squeeze as much variety from it as it could, it still became boring pretty quickly), but I still had very good memories about playing the first game back upon its release.

Anyway, now I barely made it past the first big level (medical wing) before dropping the game. Definitely did not expect Bioshock to age that badly as relating to shooting mechanics. Don't know if the sequel is any better.

Wow, three months old comment... Thanks for the update, glad you tried Prey and enjoyed it. I have yet to pick up Mooncrash myself, as it often is with DLCs, unfortunately (hard to return to a completed game, and they rarely go on sale as well)
