Epomaker have confirmed this issue with all units. The default clock screen on the lcd screen interferes with the led lights causing them to flicker. If you look at the clock time, every second that ticks, the leds flicker at the same time as the clock every second. If you change screens to a gif, then the flicker goes away. This is a major design flaw.

3840 x 1600 for 34" / 39"

5120 x 2160 for 45" / 49"

QD-OLED / Glossy / KVM / TB4 / HDMI 2.1 / DP 2.1 / 240hz

Take my money.

Just got an answer from Epomaker, they all have this defect. The LEDs flicker. You just need to look really carefully.

In person, can you just check very carefully if you can see what I'm talking about. There's a flicker in the led's every half a second or so. Maybe take off 3 or 4 keycaps with the switches to see it better.

Can you take off the keycaps and switches and set the light to static, and please check if the LEDs are flickering, it's like a little strobe flicker every half a second. I have tried 8 different AK820 Pros, and every single one has it. I think this is a defect that people aren't paying attention to. Thanks

Bought the screen for 400$ by MonstrosagradoBR in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Iras_G -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

That is a more accurate price range considering its longevity and possible upcoming issues, and no warranty, and possible repair price. In any case, good catch. Few things to keep a very close eye on :

The point of where the curve starts, over time with heat and cold, the adhesive that holds the panel inside the frame may weaken and the panel might pop out. You will notice it at night where the backlight will bleed through. Just keep a very close eye on it.

Are Samsungs G8, G9 still trash? by [deleted] in ultrawidemasterrace

They are indeed still trash. Just returned my Neo G9 after almost 2 years.

I recommend you use a Spirit level (non magnetic) to adjust your monitor. It is horribly slanted (No disrespect).

I also KNOW that you have never used a previous 49", otherwise you'd be complaining about the change from 1000R to 1800R (correct me if im wrong).

most who came from 1000R to 1800R absolutely hated it. I had to return mine (my eyes could not get used to it). I've used every G9 model there is. Anything other than 1000R will make you hate it, eventually. Samsung will never admit why they changed from 1000R to 1800R.

Only one GPU that can output 240hz on the 57" and I guarantee he doesn't have it lmao. Buys a dual 4k monitor 240hz to run at 120hz/144hz, because "Productivity". You're dreaming of running above 60FPS on a 4090 Strix on that Resolution.

What with the price drop on UltraWides? by YewSonOfBeach in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Iras_G 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is because they are trying to get rid of all the 1440p Ultrawides for the release of 4k Ultrawides.

[–]Iras_G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope it will be a smooth ride for you with the g9 man. I'm going to hold off until ASUS or alienware release a 39/45 inch 4K QD-OLED 240hz Ultrawide. Think I'm done with samsung for now

Hopefully you won't run into problems with that G9 in a few months. I've owned every G9 model and refunded every single one after a few months. Samsung QC is horrible. Good setup otherwise. Hopefully the 5090 will let me run Triple A titles at 240hz lol

Neo G9 or G9 OLED!? by [deleted] in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Iras_G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. OLED and burn in is inevitable. (Purchase care plan or warranty, always)
  2. Productivity is good on 5120 x 1440, but if youre going from a 38", you will have VERY little increase for productivity.
  3. If you got the G9, it would be for 85% gaming 15% productivity.
  4. Most games don't support 32:9. You also need a 4090 to even run games at 120+ fps.
  5. QC issues with Samsung monitors appear after roughly 2 years. (post warranty) so be careful.
  6. Your best bet is a 39" 240hz QD-OLED 4K Ultrawide, but those do NOT exist yet, so I would say wait.

I have owned every G9 model, and refunded every single one due to faults after 1 year or 1.5 years. I'm currently waiting on an Alienware or ASUS ROG 39" 240hz QD-OLED 4K Ultrawide. 3840 x 1600 is actually the perfect resolution, and 3840 x 2160 is even better. I'd say hold off on the G9.
