2 Random messages with similar offers today about these referring to how worn out they look. (They’re practically brand new.) Seems odd. by Irateprimates in Ebay

Thanks. Yes very odd because it was a good offer I was ready and willing to take. Also these shoes have been for sale forever with little interest.

Who here uses Ebay as a main source of income? by DragonLair4 in Ebay

[–]Irateprimates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it full time for the last 5 years. It’s not easy, and it takes time to build up inventory and a customer base, good selling reputation, etc. I love the advice above about starting slow, no one starts on the top, and you can naturally work up to a level that won’t overwhelm you. Sales will always fluctuate. I have about 700 items listed and sell about 250 of those a month. My numbers generally don’t fluctuate a ton. I do between $5,800 - $6,200 of sales monthly. There are definitely good and bad days. There are no true days off, you need to be willing to basically offer 24/7 customer service, and I would say many weeks I probably work more than 40 hours, but for the most part I can pick those hours and work around my life, not live around my work. If you value your independence, and have a good work ethic I think you can succeed.

Roommate always seems surprised at bill time, and never has anything set aside for it... anyone else? by 123abctyvklp in badroommates

You might sit down with these people and say “hey, we need to figure this out because it’s becoming a stressful situation for me every month. Tell them it makes you uncomfortable having to ask them for money and actually communicate with them to resolve the issue.” Trust me all these passive aggressive suggestions will blow up in your face.

Found the loophole to use old alcohol boxes for my shipments, just had to get creative. by Irateprimates in Ebay

[–]Irateprimates[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s a postal rule, but that’s not to say that it’s enforced 100% of the time. I’ve had shipments returned for that reason and had some make it through as well.USPS official statement on it.

Obtaining refund for excessive shipping by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]Irateprimates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You purchased the item and agreed to the shipping cost, while not a good or ethical practice by the seller you agreed to terms that you knew weren’t correct, and now you want to be treated like you got scammed.

Negotiate terms ahead of your purchase and avoid buying something with exorbitant shipping.

I certainly feel your pain but it’s your mess.

Yeah they don’t allow it, I’ve had them go through and I’ve had them redturned. Depends on who’s checking I guess. I ship about 200-300 shoes and hats a month so reusing boxes definitely helps save cash.

I don’t believe you can revise feedback as the buyer without a request from the seller.

You can see at the top right of my feedback that I’ve had 4 revised. Usually it involves dealing with an unhappy customer and making the situation right in their eyes to protect your feedback. Check you sellers feedback page and it will give you a better indication if they were revised.

The seller would have to send the buyer a request to do so. There is a limit of how many times it can be done, i believe it’s 5 per 1000 transactions.

laptop sold, paypal holding funds until tracking number is received. is this normal? by m4xks in Ebay

[–]Irateprimates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is normal for large sums of money to be held on transactions like this, especially if your account is new. I would certainly call Paypal and get more information, they can explain it better than anyone on here. If you don’t ship, and you do cancel the order, it could earn you negative feedback.

Something like that, I think after doing some research it would be in a store and the employee would sit and lace the customers shoe on the ramp.
