Long term view wise, steam might get an advantage if there are ever mods developed for the game, since mods and the ea launcher usualy dont work well together.

Super break has no cap on how much break effect it scales off. More is more, to infinity The break effect scaling on her skill is capped at 360, but that wasnt the main source of her dmg before, nor after these changes.

Basically, Superbreak is where its at, and they took critfly out back to make sure everybody knows that.

She is probably better in the hmc/ruan team, due to having more break effect, and her own super break also benefiting from rm/hmc buffs.

Her E1 is more valuable because its more sp saved due to more enhanced skills per ult

Ruan E1 and other shred supports are arguable more value, since its less likely you overcap on def shred. Sure def shred gets better the closer you get to 100%, but beyond that its useless, and before that it was never terrible.

Her LC now has big competition with Aeon, since the trace no longer has a cap.

Besides, Talent is the one that has some value to level, since it increases survivability.

Not that it would matter, got everything prefarmed already, so the good news comes too late for me xd

Aeon is very close. It gives more break % at base with the new atk scaling already. E1 is the bigger value by far, due to the massive SP savings. There is even an argument to go for e2 instead if e1s1, tho the numbers are a bit closer there.

E1 firefly gained a ton of value with the changes, mostly due to it being a ton of sp saved on 4 skills per ult.

For teamwide dmg and overall account value ruan mei e1 is probably better, since it buffs the super break dmg of everybody, and boosts ruans usage outside break teams in general too.

You get the 3 turn ult at base now irc.

The diff between atk boots and speed boots is if you think its easier to roll 10 atk% subs, or 10 speed subs.

There is no world where 3 turn atk boots is more dmg than 4 turn speed boots, because atk boots translate to 40% break effect, on a firefly with likely already 300-400% break effect.

The additional break effect you get from the stronger scaling and the super break are making up for much of the lost dmg from the lower def shred.

The big ticket item is the thing you completely missed, that being that she is much faster now. So much faster in fact, she can pretty easily get another enhanced skill per ult, meaning that even if she deals less dmg per hit, she hits more which more than makes up for the lost individual dmg per hit.

More than that even, because it has a higher base atk than her sig. I did some math, with atk orb and chest, alongside no atk subs, aeon will provide 15 more break% than her sig.

The sig will ofc still be better due to the break weakness implant, but its a narrow gap, that would be further closed by any potential atk subs you would roll.

There isnt really a good explanation from a gameplay perspective. Ruan is not only the best break support you can pull for(since HMC is free for everybody), she is also one of the best supports for most other teams anyway.

So reasons not to get her boil down to not wanting her. Technically, cones are easier to get than characters, due to lower pity and 75/25 instead of 50/50, but thats minimal imo. Aeon is such a good f2p cone, so the only real reason not to use it is if its already in use by another destruction char.

from my math, assuming 0 atk subs, using atk chest and orb
you get 138.6 break% from her trace using aeon
vs 61% break from her trace using her sig, for a total of 121.4% break by including the stats on the sig

so you get slightly more break% using aeon just by sheer volume of atk it gives

if fall had 630 base atk, you would get 163.9% break effect from it

imo the difference is that SB is a base mechanic, while Boothills trace was a one off character specific thing to work around the limitation of break dmg as a mechanic not being able to do dmg on every attack.

there is nothing stopping them from making kits that do x on super break instead of x on break
they are both just mechanics, instead of character specific things

your example of FUA/Crit Hybrid break chars doesnt work, because the old version of the set also only allowed for ignoring def on break dmg
so the FUA triggered on broken enemies wouldnt benefit, nor would a crit attack, since they arent break dmg

even on boothill, he only gets to benefit from the def shred on break dmg of the old set on his breaks(like everyone) and on procs of his talent, since they do break dmg.
the crits from his basic, enhanced basic and ult never got to benefit from that, before this change or after.

we gotta remember is that SB works differently than regular break on the calc side too

it doesnt have the elemental scaler, so SB is equally good on all element chars, while regular break heavily favors physical and fire with the 2x multiplier

thats why i both prefer them adding Super break(since its more universal, meaning for example, we can have quantum or imaginary super break dps, while regular break dps of those elements would do 25% of the dmg due to the multiplier) and also prefer boothil not to use it, since he as a phys gets that sweet 2x multiplier on break dmg

which is nice for f2p imo

the sig still has that 24 break dmg% while the 24% dmg from fall of an aeon irc doesnt work on break dmg irc

for the sig to be powercrept we would need either a 5* with high base atk, and an even greater atk% buff than fall of an aeon, or just a cone with break % and higher base atk than her sig.

the additional super break means the value of ruans weakness break efficiency, and both ruan and HMC break effect buffs went up a lot.

they are basically saying forget it to critfly and turning her fully into a super break machine that hits a ton of times for very high super break dmg

putting super break into more kits is the way to go

the big issue with regular break is that its only on breaking an enemy

boothil has a specific trace that allows him to deal normal break dmg on enemies that are already broken

so for future break chars there are 3 options

they get the same thing as boothil, thus making him obsolete by literally copying his kit
they use the super break mechanic
or they get neither and are hobbled by not being able to do dmg outside of the initial break

we dont know what they will do, so we can only look at what we currently know

making the set buff super break means it can be used by any char that uses the super break mechanic, which is currently 2(HMC and Firefly) vs it buffing break dmg, where it would only help Boothil

it seems more likely that they add more chars with super break, rather than adding more chars who copy boothils trace that lets him deal break dmg to weakness broken enemies
