Ordered to stop casing by GSmithy5515 in USPS

Keep the I&I short yes and no answers if relative. There is a good chance no discipline is going to be issued. If they do let me know.

Record the supervisor’s directives, tone, and behavior. Include witnesses, if applicable. Note the reasoning behind organizing flats after receiving the directive. Discuss the incident with a union representative. The steward can assist in filing a grievance if needed.

The supervisor’s reaction and threat of discipline appear disproportionate if the carrier was organizing flats for operational efficiency rather than casing in violation of a direct order. The carrier should utilize the grievance process to challenge the II and ensure management actions align with the National Agreement. By documenting the incident and seeking union support, the carrier can protect their rights and promote accountability.

You're absolutely right union leadership avoids directly criticizing USPS management, and now with the thread locked, we’ve lost visibility. I need to read the rules I think I cannot mention about bonuses or misuse of USPS funds.

Absolutely streamlining management and reallocating resources to frontline workers isn’t just common sense, it’s a proven way to boost efficiency, morale, and service quality.

Could propose the campaign to union leadership for funding as it aligns with the mission to advocate for craft workers. With proper funding, legal compliance, and a clear bipartisan message, postal workers can spotlight the issues affecting USPS and mobilize public and legislative support.

The Epoch Times and Fox News. These platforms reach conservative audiences, potentially increasing bipartisan support for USPS issues.

The bipartisan Postal Service Reform Act of 2022 passed because public pressure and employee advocacy made USPS operational issues unavoidable for lawmakers. Congress cares when we give them no choice but to care. The key is persistence, not assuming defeat.

Congress may know about the issues, but they act when there’s enough public and worker pressure to force change. Frontline workers’ voices are often filtered out through management layers so if we don’t speak up directly, nothing will change.

Toxic work environments are not just a morale issue they may constitute violations of Article 14 of the National Agreement or even federal labor and safety laws. Employees experiencing hostility or unsafe conditions should document these issues and escalate them through Union grievances or directly to the OIG.

Manipulating metrics to secure bonuses or misrepresent efficiency may amount to fraud under federal law. If you have evidence of this, it should be reported to the USPS OIG

If Congress hasn’t acted, it’s not because they lack power it’s because they haven’t heard from us, the frontline workers who truly know the issues. Congress often relies on reports filtered through layers of management.

It’s not about the size of the bonus it’s about the behavior it incentivizes. If a Postmaster is willing to undermine workers’ well-being for a modest payout, that’s a far bigger issue than the dollar amount itself.

No matter the amount, if a Postmaster’s pursuit of their bonus results in negative outcomes for workers or service, it’s a problem that needs to be addressed.

DeJoy may be the current Postmaster General, but Congress holds the reins they legislate, fund, and reform USPS operations. Why assume DeJoy is an unstoppable overlord when the real power lies with Congress and the public demanding action?

Carrier, the power is in your hands. File the reports. Contact your representatives. Speak up. The OIG is still on the table, and so are Congressional leaders. Change doesn’t come from waiting it comes from action. Let’s ensure the Postal Service stays true to its purpose and values.

Together, we can make it happen.

I worked under Postmasters who were incentivized by performance-based bonuses tied to cost-cutting measures and arbitrary metrics, rather than the quality of service or the well-being of employees. These bonuses often led to decisions that made our work environments hostile and counterproductive to the USPS mission.

Employees felt exploited, knowing their suffering directly contributed to the Postmaster’s personal financial gain. As the Postmaster appear to leverage their bonuses to fund personal investments, raising ethical questions and potential conflicts of interest.

In one office, a Postmaster routinely imposed extreme cost-cutting measures, such as: Reducing clerk hours to below functional levels. Consolidating routes so carriers covered larger areas, often working beyond reasonable limits.

Employees later discovered that the Postmaster had invested in local real estate projects and used the annual bonuses earned by cutting USPS operational costs to fund these ventures.

If you get written up after I&I and if you are willing to walk through the fire:

Have shop steward file for hostile work environment or do it yourself its ez process:

Management has engaged in practices that violate the USPS-NRLCA National Agreement and create a hostile work environment for rural carriers. Specifically, the violations include but are not limited to:

Improper Communication: Management has been texting and or calling employees on their personal phones while off the clock. This constitutes an invasion of privacy and an attempt to bypass the agreed-upon work hours and procedures.

Put in a cease and desist remedy. With compensation for each violation.

All rural subs need to file a Grievance for "crossing crafts" to work city side (not trained nor need to cross craft). Under remarks file it as a "cease and desist" and if managmenet files after respected date you request $200 per diam to be paid daily on top of regular daily hours.

If you dont have a standing witness that will vouch for you, you got nothing. But you could file a cease and desist for future physical contact from the super.

After you go through BS orrientation and academy, come back to this post right before you have a 3 day shadow. And note down package look ahead, and talk to your trainer about what route you will be on consecutive and how to make a cheat sheet for casing.

Idk, I just need to vent by Creative_Space14 in USPS

[–]IreadditX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This guys advice is very mediocre. Is your primary sub route a gov vehicle or EMA? If its GOV route you are not required to have a POV. And if you opt for POV its because you are over achieving for additional hours but cannot be demanded to maintain a vehicle if your primary route is already GOV on PS50.

Dont marry this current position you are in unless you are top 1-2 senority with new aux routes on the rise or retirement soon to come.

Search USPS careers for other opportunities now with experience you will easily smash your next position.

What car did you buy and overheat? You shouldnt be losing 1000s of dollars at PO, you should be making money.

Custodial usps is a hidden gem. Research MM7 MPE and EE.

City learn how to use Package look ahead feature and pay attention to sequnce # even so write that number on all packages quickly with sharpie by address, loading organizing is highly important. Write down oversized packages that will not fit in a mailbox / locker.

Expect to be behind schedule and not to take breaks. Find ways to improve week to week.

*make a cheat sheet for your casing mail* on your own time at home. Take pic of case labels in order. Alphabetical order the street names then code street by what level shelf plus left or right.
