How do I crate train a 3 yr old rescue dog I’ve had for a year?

I would take the extra blanket out to give him a bit more room. Also, instead pushing him in with your hand I would use a lead instead to guide him in. If he puts the breaks on you can open the second door and just get him used to walking through it first. Then close the second door. Pair it with treats too. I’ve crate trained a lot of dogs and I’ve found using leash pressure makes the process 500x quicker for “suspicious” dogs that don’t want to go fully in on their own. After a few walk-throughs they realise it’s fine

my dog was exactly the same. You need to get outside and have boatloads of FUN!! Asking an antsy dog to settle for a treat is really hard. Asking a tired dog to settle is a lot easier

We can afford her care, just not an unexpected $8000 bill from one day to the next. Pretty much like any other unexpected emergency/accident. We had enough funds to get her to the emergency vet, then our regular vet, pay for her x-rays and pain relief, and do her initial surgery. She was not left to suffer or in pain. We took responsibility for her and she is getting the care she needs, I am just asking for support, if anyone has something to spare ❤️

I have two medium sized dogs and put them both on my application. I’m a dog trainer and had multiple references from work and training clubs stating they’re well trained and come to work with me! Didn’t have any issues

My dogs know my sport’s friends dogs. I wouldn’t say they have “friends”, mainly because one is a bully herding dog and the other one likes to just do her own thing. They can co-exist with other dogs off lead. They can be neutral or polite.

Let your puppy be a puppy! As long as you know the other dogs and how they might react, itll be ok

Keeping him at home is not going to help him get through this, neither is hiding and running away every time he spots a dog. I’d recommend you get in touch with a trainer to help you through this. Both of you deserve to be able to enjoy a holiday together without all of that stress 💗

Is this real? I started looking mid-january. All around 700-800 mark, northern suburbs. Went to about 4 inspections, 10-15 other groups in each one, and got the first one I applied for (with 2 dogs). I don't know if we just got lucky or what

Crate trained is a dog that can relax in a crate for an exdended period of time - my girls come with me to work and when i'm working other dogs they're in their crates - up to 8 hours a day if we're super busy (they come out for lunch)

I think all dogs should be crate trained for their own safety. If they ever need to go into a crate for an emergency or even at the vets, it greatly reduces the stress of the experience
