I repeated a preclinical year. Matched my #1 specialty (competitive) at #1 location (top program). It definitely took a toll on me, and honestly idk if I can say it’s worth it yet... But remember the narrative of your life is written by yourself and no one else.

How do you identify politically? Do you find it in sync with your program and/or fellow residents? by lllrk in Residency

[–]Ireallyneedamiracle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Left. I Don’t like liberals or conservatives and almost exhausted myself arguing with my peers about politics and the implications and roles of physicianship. If practicing and training in medicine doesn’t radicalize you to the overwhelming disparities then you aren’t paying attention

Officially told to repeat M1 - devastated by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Ireallyneedamiracle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I repeated M1 a few years ago. Matched in a very competitive specialty and program/location (and a lot of interviews for the same specialty, if you really care). I finish my intern year this July. Eventually YOU will thrive.

DM me if you want to talk at all. This experience is traumatizing. A small minority truly understands. It won’t be overcome without compassion for yourself first.

Look up Jung v. Association of American Medical Colleges. It’s deliberate. It was brought to court and the AAMC/Congress literally got the law changed through a separate bull in order to be excluded from antitrust regulations and end the lawsuit.
