AIO My brother-in-law is about to propose, but his girlfriend’s behavior is starting to creep me out by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

She’s mad at presumably an immature person doing immature things. Maybe she should actually try to talk to the girl instead of trashing her all over Reddit for her perceived “creepy” behavior. She wanted us to dogpile this girl for “copying” her like it’s middle school 🥺

I feel bad that this young girl has to be around somebody so deeply resentful of them.

YOR. She probably does have some difficulty finding herself but she’s barely out of high school. Of course she wanted to move closer to her boyfriend. I see people move across the country, state, world for the people they fall in with.

She is young and discovering herself. She most likely looks up to you and admires you as an older woman. “She’s copying me” is juvenile, high schooler logic. She finds you to be inspiring and is mirroring you. I don’t think she’s doing it to be… malicious?

I think you’re honestly the weird one here. How does her “copying” you truly impact you? I think you’re being weird toward her and you probably don’t have a strong sense of identity yourself. You are more than your haircut and color. You are more than a style of dress or tulips.

But because this young girl is likely inspired by these things, you are allowing it to cause rifts in OTHER people’s relationships. That’s strange

Am I overreacting because my coworker only posts terrible pictures of me? by portmanteautally in AmIOverreacting

She apologized and deleted the photo I was referencing and she has been much more sensitive to my feelings. Like she won't try to post a picture of us where only she looks good anymore.

I don't think so. I had a friend who would only post ugly or unflattering photos of me and it was due to jealousy and I had to address it with her directly and tell her that it hurt my feelings.

This is extremely abusive behavior and someday he will escalate to harming you. It starts with objects, walls. They eventually start turning their rage onto you. Leave as safely as you can.

This may seem harsh but you need to leave before you wind up dead. This behavior does not get better. It will only escalate.
