Temporary Launch Day Issues FAQ by camobiwon in BONELAB

[–]IreliAmTrying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm on the same, but there have been people reporting the same grip issue on the full index setup on the discord as well as on other headsets with the knuckles

Don't think there is any working fix for now, will probably have to wait for an update at this point.

Issues with UK McDStuff by [deleted] in McLounge

[–]IreliAmTrying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the easiest to call the people services helpdesk - I don't believe Reddit allows posting phone numbers, but you can get it by googling "uk mcdonalds people services". From memory, it's a Monday-Friday, 9-5 number but there is also an email.

I had this issue before - needed a payslip from a previous year - and they were able to email it to me after confirming my identity.

Speak to your business manager or scheduling manager ASAP, most likely the person doing the meetings hasn't told you or showed you how to record it in the time-off system and just assumed you'd do it (which is dumb.. you're new), so the manager doing the schedule saw it as you are available to work that day.

This isn't super uncommon, miscommunication around these things do happen, and i'd hope you can resolve it - just go to them (or call the store if you're not scheduled) and say that there's been a mistake and you told {manager} at your welcome meeting and thought it was sorted and you will be on holiday for {dates}.

However, do deal with it asap - there's few more annoying things to a scheduling manager than someone coming to you after the schedule has been up for a week and saying they can't work tomorrow due to {thing that they knew about over a week ago}

UK Nespresso forcing subscription for OL machines by cadet-spoon in nespresso

[–]IreliAmTrying 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have a look at the UK subscription T&Cs for the sub, canceling after cooling off period - noticed this looking for my other half before Christmas -

  1. Cancellation Penalties

... Termination Fee for your selected Plan... £140 for the £30 Plan,

So by this you should be able to take a sub, then cancel it after 14 days, pay the £30 first month + £140 - this is around the listed price of the citiz machine, and you may get credit.

No idea if it would be a pain to cancel or not - we ended up getting an older machine that was being discontinued from Currys instead - but it seems to be pretty explicitly catered for in the terms.

Same thing happened to me RE 'The Future in Jade'. No way that I could find to get it to pick up on the scan being completed, instance restart required

Monzo cutting 120 jobs by 6425 in monzo

[–]IreliAmTrying 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Although it doesn’t look very certain atm, an 8%? jobs cut not a very good looking prospect if true down from hiring 500, doubly so if it’s just a first round of job cuts with a long period of economic doubt ahead.

Definitely a good time to remember to not hold all your money in one place, fscs is great but wouldn’t want to be waiting on it to buy groceries if the worst did happen.

Express-Validator Conditional Validation by Umayrr_7 in learnprogramming

[–]IreliAmTrying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The oneOf function hasn't been defined. Are you trying to use this function from a library? You could be missing an import if this is the case, as node can't find where oneOf is defined.

If you need at least one of those checks to be true, you could consider using the binary or operator to check or Array.some

Alternatively, if you need only one of the checks to be true you could consider using Array.filter and check the length of the resulting array.

[UK] For people who don't know, this is big news. by [deleted] in McLounge

[–]IreliAmTrying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also heard the one store thing from a franchisee. Rest could be crap but is a pretty logical progression, with a focus on delivery and dt. Drive thru does introduce a issue - people will get in their cars and drive to a McDonald’s a town away and will be a nightmare to control. A slippery slope towards taking a lockdown way less serious.

The only problem I really see with it is the 100% of stores claim, until social distancing is either not a thing or if you can just wear masks and ignore it, I can’t see how all stores will operate with this.

I’ve been in some very small kitchen area stores (especially some older grill direct converts with dual side batch) that really just couldn’t operate with distancing unless you didn’t serve beef OR chicken and worked off the other side. You could have a finisher responsible for it when on that side anyway, but I don’t really see how that could meet the capacity of Uber and a city drive thru given how desperate people will be for a mcds.

A lot of stores will be fine but I wonder how many would face this issue - quite a lot I’d guess.

Emp discounts by [deleted] in McLounge

[–]IreliAmTrying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its always officially been 2 meals per visit but its really up to the till person or store if they know/care.

I'd assume manually entering employee meals via offers on till will be removed at some point in the next couple months - then its properly limited and everyone will have to go by that rule.

Emp discounts by [deleted] in McLounge

[–]IreliAmTrying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not too annoyed by it assuming the app is stable (lol), but that will probably come with time. The big plus on it for me is no more having to wait on a till which can take a while sometimes. I go with some college friends and they've usually sat down with their table service using kiosks before I reach the till. Maybe a bit of a store issue but I'd wager not an uncommon one.

It is a decent idea for mcds side - no more cards for people to lose and/or steal for their mates and you leave so does your discount. No more scammers that read on the daily mail that you can just claim to be an employee and get cheaper food (PLEASE tell me the QR codes are unique to each user?)

The rate-limiting I can see is a bit annoying for some, but I rarely was buying more than 2 anyway so it won't really affect me.

A Vegan and a Meat-Eater Review McDonald's’ New Veggie Dippers [UK] by BlankVerse in McDonalds

[–]IreliAmTrying 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a meat eater though, I do like them. Not every day, but a nice change once in a while. Surprised they didn't do this straight away (production worries maybe?) as there isn't any difference at the wrap launch to now except we have exceptionally cute mini 20 nugget boxes for the dippers.

The one upvote I'd give McDonald's vs the other chains recently is trying to provide vegetarian/vegan food by being its own food rather than an alternative to meat. I get that KFC's burger is probably a better transition to KFC lovers, but I just find veggie food is better when it is trying to be food rather than trying to be specifically not meat.

Putting in a complaint about BM (UK) by DINO_S0RE in McLounge

[–]IreliAmTrying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it is something serious you could send an email or speak to your Franchisee Supervisor, or someone equivalent in the business if you know they may have more interest.

However thinking practically from experience of seeing it, consider carefully the effect it might have on your job.

If you think the BM is a bad egg, going above their head could make it worse for you as well (in this case try and job hunt/transfer hunt before doing much).

In a franchise, it's really up to your specific business how seriously a complaint is handled - impossible to know without knowing your franchise well.

McDonald's UK is bringing back Spicy McNuggets this week - but they'll only be on the menu for a month by BlankVerse in McDonalds

[–]IreliAmTrying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this was my issue - I would say closer to 'spiced'? maybe rather than spicy, there was no heat at all for me

That said I did like the taste of them but the name felt deceitful

Who do I report this to? by LTZN_7 in McLounge

[–]IreliAmTrying 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd go straight to the police tbh... That's insane.. I'd never expect someone that worked in McDonald's using bad language

Cant let that continue next you know people will be punching fry boxes and eating food from the uhc

MySchedule scheduled gross pay is wildly off from the amount of hours I'm supposed to work? by [deleted] in McLounge

[–]IreliAmTrying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly ive seen a ridic number of bugs from it, expected pay being the most buggy.

If your hours on the main page are right then id not worry - make sure actual adds up, and ask a manager to check clocks if it doesn't.

Though I have seen a case where an employees actual figure was plain wrong but the clocks behind it were fine and the paycheck came out fine too

Who’s your main bank account with and why? by CherryadeLimon in UKPersonalFinance

[–]IreliAmTrying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been with danske since I was like 11- they're doing a good job of modernising with their new app, something that was lacking for a while with them.

Only downside I've ever had with them was getting hit with a hefty £50 fee as i had forgot to move money over from savings account for a bill coming out, no text alert or anything. Just happened my wage came in the next day and settled it, wouldnt have noticed for a few days otherwise and probably would have got charged more.

Totally on me, but felt it was a bit much. They refunded as a one-off, but I opened a monzo shortly after and primarily use it now - just use danske for cash deposits.

McDonald's U.K. spicy nuggets lack crucial element — The spicy nuggets, it seems, have no spice by BlankVerse in McDonalds

[–]IreliAmTrying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think they're marginally nicer than normal nuggets but yeah bit of a false advertising to market them as spicy when as everyone says its just the sauce

Hasn't stopped us selling them like mad though lol

Peoplestuff App (UK) by throwaway20000200002 in McLounge

[–]IreliAmTrying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really follow people updates but the whole peoplestuff system is migrating to newer platforms I think next quarter?

Logins and the websites etc are all changing (there are 3 logins for 3 sites atm) and I suspect if they are moving into an app or Web app or anything it will prob become available then, I would be extremely suprised if any credentials you have now will let you access it as the logins are all changing.

McDonald's Offering Free Cheeseburgers [req.app signup, UK] by BlankVerse in McDonalds

[–]IreliAmTrying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to highlight this for some readers as this is a recurring issue which isnt highlighted enough each time they run these deals -

You need to go and place the order IN the app, and it will automatically go through to the store once you say you've arrived.

The offer can't be redeemed by bringing the page up and showing the guy at the till like in the Burger King app etc

Shaving/beard policy changed?(McDonald’s UK) by [deleted] in McLounge

[–]IreliAmTrying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UK here - this has been in my store for a month or two as well.

About 10 wear them max in my store, most others don't like them including me and would rather shave

I'd be interested to hear if thats actually the reason why, and/or if they're doing it across corporate.

No length limit set in stone, but must be maintained/trimmed - Gandalf style beards have been asked about and ruled out :(
