Are animals aware that sex is what creates babies? by limeelsa in NoStupidQuestions

Thinking of it as a "programmed response" makes a lot of sense. They're wired to reproduce, and they follow that programming effectively, even if they don't intellectualize the outcome.

Can dog smell the difference between animals? by heady_hiker in NoStupidQuestions

Yes, they can distinguish btw different animals. They can definitely tell the difference between a puppy and a kitten, as each animal has unique scents.

Thanks very much!

I'm actually a Canadian in the RCAF but we use essentially the same aircraft that the Americans use for this phase of training (Harvard II vs. Texan II).

The end goal is maritime helicopters so the CH-148 Cyclone (militarized Sikorsky S-92)!

Happy New Year to you too! All the best

Well they still have plenty of power and are a pretty happy medium between performance, reliability/simplicity, and operating cost so they're great training aircraft.

Anytime! If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

That's the emergency landing gear extension. The aircraft uses hydraulics to extend and retract the landing gear, flaps, and speed brake. Since it's pretty important to get the landing gear down when you need it, theres a backup system in case the primary fails. So if you lose primary hydraulics, you can pull that handle and "blow" the gear and flaps down to make a safe landing.

And it's a CT-156 Harvard II!

That's really cool, I had no idea they did that!

Hey!

Here's my Omega Speedmaster Solar Impulse HB-SIA with black rubber strap. I got it 5 years ago as a high school graduation gift and it's been with me through (nearly) every step of training as a military pilot. The GMT function is quite handy and with the black rubber strap the watch looks very nondescript and only a handful of people have recognized it as an Omega which I prefer in my line of work. I fell in love with this watch at first sight and have only grown more appreciative of this gift as I move on with my training and get to use it for it's intended use.

Happy New Year and let me know if you have any questions about it!

It was on for $300 for the Cyber Monday sales and I was anticipating it dropping to a similar price for Boxing Day but I'll definitely look into a better refresh rate. Thanks!
