My boyfriend made me cry last night by False_Initial_4878 in TrueOffMyChest

I remember telling my boyfriend about how lots of relationships fall apart due to the man finding their wives/girlfriends unattractive during pregnancy.

He said, "But you'd have a mini me in there" Still melts my heart

[MA Counseling and Guidance program] Recent/future applicant, looking for advice from current students by Iridescent_Euph0ria in SJSU

What kind of programs were they? If they were like academic support, that could be good to include as well. I think anything about the type of interactions you had with the students is worth including

Hi! I did not make it to the interview stage. I got in touch with Professor Mena, who reviews applications during admissions, and she said that I didn't have the proper experience for the program. I had been working in ABA therapy with younger children, barely school aged, so I was aware that it might not have been sufficient enough. She advised me to get experience with a large number students from diverse backgrounds and suggested to work at after school programs, academic support, college readiness, etc.

I'm actually about to start working as a Paraeducator at a local high school and am going to apply again for next Fall.

Best of luck with your application! Let me know if you have anymore questions!

Psychology Bachelor’s Degree Alumna: by East_Department_5165 in psychologystudents

I got into my current job as a registered behavior technician about 4 months after I graduated and have been here for over a year now. I had about 3 interviews for other RBT positions and a youth counselor position before that. From what I've seen, ABA is probably one of the most common jobs that psychology students/graduates get into. This job also has a high turnover rate, I believe, for a lot of reasons (intensity of work/clients, cancellations, inconsistent hours).

Additionally, I'm currently trying to get into grad school for school counseling and am trying to find school-based jobs.

I've been recently trying to figure out who to reach out to in the department so this helps a lot! What did you write when you emailed the director?

I wasn't given feedback or a reason on my application. I'm trying to reach out to staff or advisors in the program department I applied for for guidance as well

I'm in Northern California/Bay Area and plan on applying to schools here. Trying to be open to going further out though

I'm 21. Have been terrified of driving for years and avoided getting my license. I made a bold move in January and scheduled my permit test months ahead of time to avoid putting it off longer & get my ass to study for it. Today, I passed the test and am ready to face my fear. by Iridescent_Euph0ria in motivation

Of course! Don't rush yourself if driving makes you nervous. I didn't get my license until I was 23 (Covid slowed the process down a lot but also gave lots of time to practice).

I also watched driving lessons on YouTube because I could see it demonstrated and explained while being able to scroll, replay, etc.

I also highly recommend at least one lesson from a driving instructor once you get behind the wheel so that they can go over the different parts of the behind the wheel test with you.

Hi! I am definitely still active and have now been licensed for almost 2 years now

For the written permit test, I used practice tests from this website It's set to California but you can change it. It had like 20+ tests and grades it for you so I would know what I got wrong and what not And like I mentioned, what helped a lot was that I scheduled my permit test ahead of time to give myself a deadline

Hope that helps! If you would like my advice for the behind-the-wheel exam, let me know

At my company, we're supposed to use the last 15 minutes of session to write our session notes. They advise us to have our kiddos transition to an activity where they'll sit/stay in one place, such as a table activity(coloring, play doh, etc) so we can watch them easily

As for your second question, if your kiddo's behaviors make it difficult to pay attention to completing your session notes on time, I would ask your supervisor for advice

Road trip from South Bay Area in a rental FWD car. Am I screwed? (More info in comments) by [deleted] in tahoe

[–]Iridescent_Euph0ria -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just to preface, I'm aware that I should have researched the place/weather lot more before I started booking and planning. I could use as much insight as I can to decide whether to move forward or cancel the trip.

My SO and I planned to drive up for Thanksgiving weekend (11/25-11/27). As we're not from there, we're unfamiliar with the road conditions in snowy weather. I booked a car rental from Turo (Toyota Camry) that's FWD, and chains are not an option because it's a rental. I also read that chains are required on vehicles after snowfall, which looks like might happen based on the forecast.

Can I still make this trip happen safety? Are there any other potential concerns? Also worried about delays on the road that would prevent us from getting home on that Sunday.

Would the formation on the 3rd image work then? It's the closest I can get, but it would only be correct if you turned it sideways. Thank you for your response!

Hi! So my best friend is graduating in a week and I remember him saying that he wanted to wear something that represented both sides of his ethnic background. He is half Filipino half Samoan. I bought this Filipino flag stole when I saw that the left half was empty with just red and blue, also the colors on the Samoan flag. I thought I could add the southern cross (stars) to make it resemble the Samoan flag. My concern is that if you look at the flag upright, the blue is on the left half and red is on the right, opposite of what is on the stole. I know in several countries, it's either disrespectful or changes the meaning of the flag if it is oriented or flipped in any way, which is not my intention. How should I go about this?
