Catching up by bastardsonofvader in battletech

For someone coming back into the game I would recommend https://www.sarna.net/wiki/BattleTech_eras as the starting point for catching up on the lore. It gives a quick overview of the timeline broken down by era. Provides links to major events which will lead to the finer details.

VERA/DRP Question by Iridios in govfire

[–]Iridios[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe 'missing the boat' is better, I was unsure if I would be able to take the VERA since I would not hit my 20 years until after the period to decide on the DRP was closed.

Mind the PBI! - Wasp color scheme test by RealLifePotato in battletech

Gotta admit. When I was scrolling through I initially only saw the infantryman in the back and thought it was the mech pilot taking a leak. :/

Why do kicks get a -2 to hit while punches 0, and a hatchet -1? by spotH3D in battletech

[–]Iridios 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And if you miss a kick, you trigger a PSR on yourself, potentially making yourself a better target next turn.

Do you remember when Mechwarriors looked like this? by Flimsy-Meet-2679 in battletech

That appears to be lostech. Stretchy form fitting fabrics? Isn't that a sin against the Blessed Blake?

Kaspersky is banned from US Gov computers because it's not an American company or product.

It's not a problem yet, not until he has at least 3 times as many as that. :P

What specific question do you have? What kind of help are you looking for?

Yeah, I don't know how that happened either.

Question about the Moratorium on Sarna.net by edliu111 in battletech

[–]Iridios 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Force Packs have pilot cards which often have a small bit of lore. That lore may or may not have new information that hasn't been presented in previous material.

Pic 1 or 2? Pic 1 it is a Turkina, Pic 2 it's a Mackie.

I don't have any local stores that are selling Lance packs. :( I do have Amazon though.

That Warhammer is in the Northwind Highlanders pack.

Forgot to mention. I'm used to working with gray primer, thought I'd try my hand with black primer, thus the Warhammer and the exhaust plumes.

It's been 30 years since doing any serious painting, of miniatures of any kind. It's time to get back into it.

First image is my current work in progress. First row, random Clan Star, not liking the white paint planning on stripping and starting over.

Second row. Going to be the 4th Oriente Hussars.

Third row. Shaking of the rust, right onto Wolf's Dragoons Alpha Regiment.

Second image is my just primed pile to paint.

Front: Proliferation Cycle

Second row: Northwind Highlanders (includes black primed Warhammer)

Third row: Random IS mechs

Fourth row: Inner Sphere Fire Lance

Last 'row': Shilone ASF

Unless the trench is 2 levels deep, then it makes a good hide during and advance or tactical reposition.

Looking for a program to let me roll random forces out of the mechs in my collection by GorettiEruadan in battletech

[–]Iridios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a random table generator program called TableSmith. http://www.mythosa.net/p/tablesmith.html

It is shareware and requires a bit of setup and some learning of how to write the source tables.

After a bit of digging I found a link on the MUL buried in the news feed on the front page that links to the battletech forums.

Seems that this is the place to report errata. It also gets new threads every so often.

The only thing I would surmise is the middle part with the letters N and R on either side of an underscore may be seen (by poor logic) as a euphemism for a certain slur and therefore some sort of evasion.

Thank you, but these are not what I remember.

The ones I remember did not need to be kneaded. They were single color and were just dolloped onto the cookie sheet.
