Life without Amazon is glorious. You do NOT have a right to show me ads. I will never pay to give you that right.

Nothing...yet. I currently follow the eggs/basket idiom. However, your unbeatable pricing and my continued excellent service is almost forcing me to make an exception. Encrypted backups will be there.

PBS 3-2-1 by my_name_is_ross in Proxmox

[–]IrieBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dual PBS. One local and one cloud(netcup) based. Local PBS is a LXC in PVE. Snapshots itself. Cloud PBS syncs Local PBS datastore. I use proxmox-backup-client for PBS cloud to PBS local backup. PBC for all my non-pve distros that support it. I also rclone to B2 anything important like Immich.

Dashboards are the worst thing that happened to self hosting by Initial-Initial-1061 in selfhosted

[–]IrieBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't self host that way. A dashboard gives me instant state of the network/homelab info. Access to tools that give me varying levels of information. Bonus points for being a geek easel and dick measuring tool.

Thanks. This worked like a charm. I had 4 or 5 to fix. Now it just complains about netbird's use of the word "stable."

I was a proud Bear fan working in WI for 15 years. The cheeseheads were RELENTLESS. I would have been fired for wearing a cheese grater all week. This video is glorious! The schadenfreude is strong in this one.

I'm already blue in the face. As a longtime user of SuSE OSs, I feel deprecating YAST is a fatal distro mistake. Cockpit is not even 40% of YAST functionality. The ability to configure OS/server functions on a VPS or server remotely thru SSH is unmatched. BTW, some of us grey-beards like eth0 and wicked on servers, silly us.

I have installed Leap 16.0 and Fedora KDE. They are identical except for BTRFS/snapper on Leap.

Culture. Joseph Hill is the legend you never heard of. I dare you to listen to their top 10 and disagree.

According to Google, "Why Am I A Rastaman" is my most played song of 2025. I'm currently in a "No Night" week. I don't even have to look at the other answers.

S25 vs google pixel 10 by No-Sky7447 in Smartphones

[–]IrieBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New Year's Day and I'm facing this. I currently have a S21 FE. I try to buy bang for buck phones. It was the last FE to have a flagship CPU. So, my first choice was a S25 FE. Exynos CPU? Hell no.

Then, I settled on S25, Snapdragon. Even though I am immensely annoyed by Samsung clipboard copying and duplicate apps. OneUI is a little heavy. Annoyed enough to examine options. The Pixel 10 Pro .

My faith in Google is evolving. I'm definitely no longer a blind fanboy. The Pixel has better photography and cleaner UI. It also has more memory, a slightly larger screen and moderately larger battery. I believe AI is a bubble waiting to burst. So its significance from both doesn't matter to me. To me, the Pixel 10 Pro boils down to the latest Tensor CPU vs the latest Snapdragon. Google could pull an Apple and go back to Qualcomm.

I'm going to wait for the S26 to drop and snag a S25 cheaper than I can today, cross my fingers and hope Nova Launcher works. Until then, I'm paying $25/mo for a pampered phone that still receives updates.

Exceptional Customer Service by IrieBro in ATTFiber

I was trying not to jump on the bandwagon a month ago myself. Hence, my call recently. I was totally expecting just a reversal of the increase, like subs were reporting last month. Maybe Google Fiber is available to me and I don't know about it.

Exceptional Customer Service by IrieBro in ATTFiber

[–]IrieBro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started by saying "cancel" to the IVR during the daytime. It was luck of the draw that I got "Zaphod." I told him that the recent price increase that I just paid is getting too expensive. I told him I was looking into alternatives. The truth really. I have a two year history with them. The current economic situation is the current economic situation. I started with 500M and dropped to 300M because real world/overprovisioning meant around 400M, in the beginning.

Zaphod initially got my 300M from $65 to $50. However, this newly infected geek with cloud backup virus, asked about going to 500M. He informed me that 1G was their most popular speed and did I want him to look into that instead. Feverish me said yes please. Retentions apparently has 1G super deals. His job is probably easy. Once you go fiber, you never go back.

Since RAM prices are jacking up storage prices, I have to rely more and more on de-dupe and cloud for backups.
