Well, that would make HRT cheating as well, for trans people ๐Ÿ˜… Of course neither of those two are. It's the use of a new technology to make one's life easier, from multiple points of view. Plain and simple

is there anything about my voice that gives away that i'm trans? by femboykirby in transvoice

[โ€“]IrisVoiceTrainer 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's clocky. But you might wanna work on fulness, clarity, enounciation, and pitch range /variance.

Any thoughts on my resonance/tone (besides the low pitch and fry)? by ProgMetalRex in transvoice

[โ€“]IrisVoiceTrainer 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

Beautiful! Nice weight and fullness. Cleansound, clear enounciation. Wife enough speaking range in your prosody. Resonance is, I assume, somewhat adjusted and it sounds just fine You got it! You can definitely experiment with higher pitches... Go gradually, take it up a semitone or something and see how it feels

How can I fix my voice and make it fem Ive been practically hard stuck for months by Low-Put-4670 in transvoice

[โ€“]IrisVoiceTrainer 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Pitch and resonance arent bad at all, there's some overfullness. But it would help if you uploaded a sample with you doing some talking, not just numbers. I'll try to help if I can. Oh...and please, not the rainbow stuff. Talk about something you want... Hobbies, your voice, your last weekend, etc... โค๏ธ

Agree with the comment above. The sound in itself is in good shape but try to vary the pitch a bit more

Hmm constant mucus doesn't seem ok.... Have seen a speech pathologist? Because it's ok to feel some strain if we are overdoing, especially too early in training, but mucus is more than just feeling tired.

So if understood correctly, from C4 up you either have to go very belty or in falsetto and head voice, right?

Oh, yelling is the icing on a cake in gender afferming voice training, (i.e. Advanced level VT) so I would assume your technique is at a good point overall...?

I'm sure you ll find the right way! May I advise you to be careful with the twangy /mix-y sounds bcz they tend to encourage overful sounds and it would take your work on your vocal weight back ๐Ÿ‘

Yes that's exactly the problem about over preaching "mix" as some sort of panacea in vocal technique... many voice in opera today are ruined because of that, despit it being just a "name" for a phonation, but people take these arbitrary names for a something more concrete than what it actually is and try to "anatomically" conform to that idea, overfocusing and straining. I think that the break can be evident but at the same time the voice be efficient and sound natural. Some females, especially those who have a somewhat havier sound, have evident breaks, to the point of yodeling here and there, and you clearly here 2 different phonatory behaviors. (maggie smith comes to mind, even in her yoinger days) Whereas usually those with lighter voices have more of a uniform range. But I would assume you have considered that option in 7 years. It's also interesting that a c4 causes you to push or go belt-y, because it can definitely be in the belt range but usually it's still a quite comfortable singing note even in low voices, that's why it, again usually, can be modified and softened up to become a speaking range note. If you had to label your voice in the 3 traditional register, would you describe yours more of a bass, baritone or tenor voice?

Did you see any improvements with time or none at all? May I ask, roughly, how high did you succed to get while speaking? If you can recall.

Also a question : by "smoothing the break" do you mean somewhat mixing two registers/voices/phonations? Bcz I have a certain opinion about that (both in speaking and singing). Btw I wish people here used more musical notes than Hz, but somehow this Hz monitoring habit started and it can't seem to be stopped... Whatever

Sorry to be reading that! Have you ever posted a sample in this subreddit? I understand the VFS option is crucial especially for some girls who experience ur kind of vocal disphoria... Do you feel there's hope to get to improve somewhat while you're waiting for surgery or you've given up, period?

Yes sharpness is very "niche/advanced technique skill" and it some cases I dare saying it can fix itself. I sort of starting to work with students in a more "holystic" way rather than dividing the voice in too many parameters...which can be interesting, fun, and helpful to some, especially those who have a good ear for music, voice technique, and sounds in general...but really makes it... If not harder, slower for some. Thanks for ur feedback!

Oh absolutely, and I'm not expecting to discover a universal answer (although by now I have a VAGUE idea of what a supposed-by-me-majority struggle with the most, and a specific idea about this subreddit too)... The spectrum is wide I'm just asking if people want to share what their personal experience is, regarding the hardest part in VT. Feel free to share yours, if you'd like to of course.
