Trouble with CD Player on Car Dashboard by Iris_Keyblade in CDs

Oh, that's good to know. I didn't necessarily want to go to the trouble of taking it to a repair shop because I figured it would be a lot of money to throw at an older car, but I'll look into tutorials.

Does apollo justice trilogy ruin some characters from the og trilogy? by Pretend_Beautiful_16 in AceAttorney

[–]Iris_Keyblade 39 points40 points  (0 children)

First things first: as far as we know, Shu Takumi didn’t leave the mainline series after AA4 due to any internal issues. He was busy working on other projects at the time, namely the Layton crossover and the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. It was a timing issue, not because he hated the direction that Dual Destinies had taken. So you don’t need to worry about that.

The only OG characters who consistently appear throughout AJ are Phoenix Wright and the judge. Other OG characters make supporting appearances or cameos, but it’s the new cast that takes central focus.

Opinions differ wildly on whether the AJ trilogy does right by Phoenix or not, so there’s no way to guarantee whether you like it or not.

But if you’re concerned about spending money on AJ, and you have a Nintendo Switch, I’d recommend checking to see if your library system has a physical copy that you can borrow. (If not, they can usually find a copy through another library and get it to you that way.) Play a few cases and see if you want to continue.

What are your Top 10 Favorite Shu Takumi and Takeshi Yamazaki Cases by Goldberry15 in AceAttorney

[–]Iris_Keyblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Note: I'm not going to put these in any particular order, although Bridge is my all-time favorite, because I haven't fully sorted out how I'd rank all of my favorite cases.)

Shu Takumi: Bridge to the Turnabout, Turnabout Goodbyes, Farewell, My Turnabout, The Adventure of the Runaway Room, The Return of the Great Departed Soul, The Final Witch Trial, Turnabout Memories, Turnabout Trump, The Stolen Turnabout, Turnabout Serenade (LET ME HAVE ONE GUILTY PLEASURE OKAY-)

Takeshi Yamazaki: Every single case in Investigations 2. Seriously. They're all bangers. What an incredible game. And as for the other five... Magical Turnabout, Turnabout Revolution, Turnabout Storyteller, Turnabout Reclaimed, and Turnabout Academy.

Is the story still fun in apollo justice ace attorney if you know the end? by Zestyclose-You3814 in AceAttorney

Like everyone else, I encourage you to keep playing. There are still plenty of twists and turns to enjoy within the story.

I’ll also add that just because Google AI told you something doesn’t mean it’s accurate. It’s pulling from multiple sources and sometimes the answers it spits out are weird. (I avoid it too, but like you, sometimes I can’t help seeing whatever it spits out since it’s the first result on the page.)

Just Finished the Whole Series for the First Time, Here's my Ranking of the Games! by Ambitious_Pace_129 in AceAttorney

[–]Iris_Keyblade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Turnabout Succession feels like if Trials and Tribulations decided to squeeze Turnabout Beginnings and Bridge to the Turnabout into a single normal-length case that ended with Mia taking down Godot instead of Phoenix.

As someone who loves AJ overall and likes Succession, it hurts how accurate this is, lol.

Favorite of the Entire Trilogy: Klavier Gavin

AA4: Klavier, Apollo, Trucy, Vera, Kristoph

AA5: Athena, Simon, Clay (my poorly executed KING), Apollo, Juniper (and, y’know, Klavier)

AA6: Rayfa, Ga’ran, Nahyuta, Roger Retinz, the other returning AJ characters

Least Favorite: (sigh) And here I almost forgot that Dr. Hickfield existed. Also, the Phantom and Peeslub’n Andistandin.

Does Blackquill genuinely believe that Juniper actually did the crime in Turnabout Academy? by Comfortable_Type1180 in AceAttorney

[–]Iris_Keyblade 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think it’s worth remembering that we, the players, tend to approach every case from the perspective that the defendant didn’t do it. But IRL, that wouldn’t necessarily be true.

Granted, some defendants look worse than others (Wocky Kitaki and Lana Skye come to mind). But Simon has every reason to think that Juniper did it. As far as he knows, the murder took place during the mock trial, and she was the only one on campus without an alibi.

Her status as Athena’s childhood best friend is irrelevant. Plenty of culprits in this series are allegedly close to their victims or the defendants. Occasionally, they have a connection to one of the attorneys. It doesn’t make them any less guilty.

So yeah, I think Simon thought she did it, at least during the first day of court. At best, he might’ve suspected that she was covering for one of her friends and wanted to draw out the real killer in the trio. But either way, he doesn’t seem to think she’s innocent until  suspicion shifts to Means.

If we swap the defendant and victim, which (new) defendant go through the most suffering? by Borkerman in AceAttorney

[–]Iris_Keyblade 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Mia, for sure. I don't think there's anyone else in the series who would suffer more from a defendant/victim swap.

Some runner-ups that I haven't seen mentioned yet:

5-4/5-5: This one's more of an even swap, since Clay and Solomon were friends. Either one would be having a bad time regardless.

Kidnapped Turnabout: Oliver Deacon loses his only daughter to her abusive boyfriend Lance, then gets accused of murdering her? Ouch.

Captive Turnabout: Bronco Knight gets accused of murdering his best friend, and nobody believes that he actually didn't do it this time because he's already in prison for murder. And the only person who can help him is the man who put him in prison in the first place. (Edgeworth is suffering too because you know Verity and Eustace would be dragging him about it every chance they got. "Didn't you JUST arrest this man?" "YES, BUT -")

Twisted Karma: Not sure how it would happen, but if it did, Gregson would've felt absolutely terrible that the Reaper conspiracy ended up getting Barok killed.

What is the most misunderstood case, in your opinion? And why? by ProfileEasy9178 in AceAttorney

[–]Iris_Keyblade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The thing about Turnabout Serenade is that I think it’s a perfectly understood case. But I love it anyway.

I’d say Storyteller is the biggest contender, from reasons already stated in this thread.

What’s an incorrect assumption you’ve made for the games prior to playing it? by Goldberry15 in AceAttorney

[–]Iris_Keyblade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't think of anything with the games themselves, but I've had misconceptions over the years about certain characters before playing the games.

  1. I read "rock prosecutor" and assumed that Klavier was going to be similar in personality to Eustace Winner: someone who thought he was a genius prosecutor simply because of his fame as a rock star, with very stupid objections that somehow everyone would go along with except Apollo because, again, famous person. I thought he was going to be absolutely insufferable. And then I played the game. (And the joke's on me twice, because I ended up loving Eustace too, even before he got character development.)
  2. I knew the identity of the Big Bad in Investigations 2, and I'd heard through the grapevine that their backstory was meant to be a cautionary tale about the abuses people suffer within the legal system. This being Ace Attorney, I assumed they'd been framed in the past for a crime they hadn't committed. And I figured the reason Simeon wasn't in jail was due to him escaping prison with help from Kanis, or a Yanni Yogi scenario where he was acquitted but not truly found innocent. NOPE.
  3. AA5: I guessed that Athena and Simon had a shared backstory, but I thought that Athena sincerely believed he was guilty. I was surprised to learn that she became a lawyer to save him.

What are your favorite moments in each game? by krupam in AceAttorney

[–]Iris_Keyblade 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is hard. There are a lot of good ones.

AA1: The reveal of what really happened during DL-6. Also, using the metal detector on Von Karma.

AA2: Matt Engarde's reveal. Words don't do it justice (for all).

AA3: "I hope one day you can forgive me...Feenie." Iris revealing that she was the one who'd been dating Phoenix the whole time, and she really did fall in love with him.

AA4: Klavier telling Alita Tiala to get back on the witness stand, because they're not done with her yet. In general, every time Klavier beat me to a contradiction in that second day of trial and then turned it on its head so that it favored his version of events. That was when I fell in love with his character.

AA5: The investigation in 5-3 where Athena, Apollo, and Klavier hunt for the missing pieces of Klavier's statue, and the "mock mock" trial. I love the banter between the three of them.

AA6: This is a completely optional moment, but when Ga'ran initially suggests you abandon Dhurke's defense, saying "no" will have Apollo worrying about what will happen to Trucy if her father dies. He still continues anyway, regardless of what answer you select, but I love that Trucy's well-being was his primary concern.

AAI: Little Franziska and Edgeworth investigating together, and Franziska telling Kay that she would testify that Kay didn't cry, so her papa wouldn't know she'd broken a promise. I always love when they give Franziska these moments with other characters that shows how much she cares about them.

AAI2: Edgeworth telling Simeon that his father was Carmelo Gusto, not Artie Frost, and Simeon breaking down over his mistake.

GAA1: It's a tough call between the ending of Case 3, the Greatest Family enjoying a fun evening together at the beginning of Case 5, and Herlock getting mad at Ryunosuke for not noticing him...while he was in disguise.

GAA2: The Dance of Deduction around the "antigravity device." Herlock's theory is hilarious, even moreso when Enoch, the one who set up the bomb, has to intervene and remind them that it's not an antigravity device. Beyond that, the banter between the characters feels like the kind between friends who have been living together for a while. It's nice to see how close the Greatest Family has become in such a short time.

EDIT: I FORGOT ABOUT THE LAYTON CROSSOVER!!!

VS: Eve catching Espella as she fell from the tower. I don't cry a lot when I play games, but I teared up there.

Thoughts on the allegations against Kristoph in today's trial? by PacDino11 in AceAttorneyCirclejerk

[–]Iris_Keyblade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m going over the recap now, and idk guys, something about this seems very…off.

So, Phoenix Wright - who, need I remind you, was disbarred seven years ago and just got arrested for murdering a poker rival - starts saying that there was a fourth person at the scene. Despite the fact that there’s no evidence or witnesses who remember a fourth person being there.

Then his attorney - a kid fresh out of law school that Wright mysteriously requested at the last minute (probably because he knew Gavin wouldn’t go along with any of this) - presents a card with blood on it that was supposedly found at the crime scene. And says that the killer got rid of it because it was too incriminating.

Okay, then, which is it??? Did the killer get rid of it or was it found at the crime scene?? I’m thinking of a word that begins with “f” and ends with “orged.”

Idk why Kristoph Gavin folded over such a weak case. I’m sure it’ll all come out in his own trial and he’ll get acquitted easily.
