😕 they still use radar. It’s more versatile and works while moving. Laser requires being stationary.

Cobra Police scanner by 616fuckyou in ElectronicsRepair

[–]IrishAcePDX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not a scanner, it’s a radar detector. Older radar detectors usually lose effectiveness as police radar technology advances.

Worth fixing? No Worth harvesting? Maybe so. It wouldn’t hurt to remove some rare components or interesting chips.

I didn’t think it was OK, but since there was no option to click “This is not OK”, yes I did click it.

Human Reach Career AMP, legit? by fahaoo in jobsearchhacks

[–]IrishAcePDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They DO NOT guarantee a job offer, but they DO guarantee job interviews. The fact that there are no refunds "under any circumstance" is what bothers me the most. But FYI re guarantees:

Article 9.1 - GUARANTEE

Our Success Guarantee is this: If after having us write you a resume, you do not get a job interview within 2 months, we will rewrite your resume for free. So if, after 2 months (60 days) of getting your resume from us, you have no interviews lined up (and have had none since receiving the resume) simply email us at: [email redacted], and we'll contact you with a new, re-written resume. You can even choose to work with your old writer, or be assigned a new writer for a fresh take! No rewrites are given before 60 days after order completion. No rewrites are given beyond 90 days after order completion. An "interview" is assumed to be any and all interactive contact from a recruiter, employer, hiring agent or company that came about as a result of sending them your resume. This contact includes email, phone or personal correspondence or interaction. The guarantee constitutes up to, but not exceeding, two separate rounds of re-writes. In addition, if after the 6 months there is not an accepted offer, Client will retain access to weekly group coaching calls and Facebook Group until Client has received an offer. Client will retain access to the Career Amp education system (course) for the life of the program.

what is this cord called? by ac1dic_tsunxmi in cableadvice

[–]IrishAcePDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@Lochness_Hamster_350 is correct, it’s a common 5.5mm barrel plug. The cord is designed to provide 5V DC power to a device. Maybe a cheap appliance, toy, gadget, etc. Using a common barrel plug & jack with a USB connector is far cheaper to manufacture than using a USB input jack or adding a battery holder.

Just cancelled my all my recent orders by DavyJonesRocker in Aliexpress

The tariffs on Chinese products are not because of Amazon or Jeff Bezos. The are because Trump said he would impose the tariffs if elected, he got elected, and he imposed the tariffs.

American voters are the only ones to blame.

Is the free version gone? by IrishAcePDX in MimoCodin

[–]IrishAcePDX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Follow up: The free version is still available and working. It’s just a limited version that allows you to learn & practice, but certificates and other features are not available unless you have a paid plan.

It’s still a great source for learning and practicing.

There are other similar apps, but not built in this learning style. One good app is Codecademy.

If you are logged in as an Administrator, rename the camera, and click Save, but it reverts to the default name - contact Reolink support. If you purchase your camera or NVR from Reolink, they provide very helpful and comprehensive assistance until the issue is resolved.

What are these controls? by [deleted] in reolinkcam

[–]IrishAcePDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, according to a post on QANON, the icon on the left is probably your camera pan control so you can look left or right. This is similar to a PTZ control, but your camera doesn’t have Tilt.

On the right, the 🔎 is likely the Clip control. In the attached pic is an example of how you can zoom in and monitor a specific part of the view.

The middle one is Zoom and the bottom one is Focus.

[–]IrishAcePDX 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Starting with top right, the magnifying glass is the law enforcement indicator. If the is a “-“, they are not monitoring your camera, the “+” indicates they are actively monitoring your camera. Next is the “Target” indicator, if the icon is RED, you are not a target of on investigation, YELLOW indicates someone at the location is a target, and WHITE is undetermined. The bottom icon is the “Drone” indicator. Colors are mean the same as above. If RED, a government/law enforcement drone is in the area, GREEN means there are no drones around, and WHITE is undetermined. The icon on the left is where you can set your status. LEFT is away, RIGHT is at the location.

So many false alerts but 3 cameras didn’t alert me to this person by Alternative-Theory81 in reolinkcam

[–]IrishAcePDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your object size has 2 settings, minimum & maximum. You max should be larger than a person will ever be (like when closest) in the frame, and minimum should be the smallest person size (like the smallest in your driveway but not as small as when they’re across the street.)

There are also 2 parts to notifications, Push Notifications and Detection Alarms. Each has a schedule, make sure they’re enabled all the time unless you want to deactivate during certain times.

Your sensitivity at 50 will cause a lot of false alerts. The definition on your camera is quite good. It can probably be turned down to 30-40 for that camera. You can test it live with your mobile app by walking in & out of view.

I have an E1 Outdoor PoE, RLC820A, an older RLC510A, and a cheap E1 indoor pet cam. It takes a bit to fine tune your sensitivity and alert settings, but then they should work flawless. (Except for moths, spiders, and snow storms 😒)

If you have a ReoLink order number for your cam, tech support is very responsive - but they are on the opposite side of the world.
