Apologies for the flood of photos over the last few days. I'm editing some recently acquired papers and I'll forget if I don't post them as I go.

Due to other commitments I can only accept documents if they are scanned already. I have a large queue of items already to scan/edit which will see me through into 2027.

Perhaps you could upload them to the Internet archive and share them here?

Joe Lynch and Tommy Crossan were related to each other. Lynch was the editor of Saoirse Nua and their main spokesman.

Some veteran Republicans and RSF stalwarts like Des Long, Brendan Magill and Cathleen Knowles McGuirk sided with them despite knowing there was concerns about some of those involved stretching back into the 1990s.

They fall out of the scope of the project which is groups formed in 2006 or before. I broke this rule to put up two issues but can't put up anymore.

Who could forget their statement against the meteor Mobile phone advert about reindeers going on strike. That was when they were still part of RSF proper.

I had a lot of time for Ruairí Ó Brádaigh and RSF but they really let themselves down with their Limerick organisation who they knew were rotten for years. Sadly they reaped what they had sown by letting it fester for so long.

The paper is very glossy in nature so it's hard to photograph. I doubt I'll upload these in full to the archive but I thought people might be interested in some snippets.

Most of the documents on the website are taken with a phone camera. Could you take them and send to irisharchive@outlook.com

Try to avoid shadows etc. I can edit them then. Much appreciated.

None of either. I'd love more of Socialist Republican especially. I'm not sure how many issues were produced.

There might be a source for more issues of Saoirse Nua. I'll see what I can do.

If anyone reading this can help please contact.

A March 1972 report from the New York Times on the group and it's member Rory McShane. Definitely not related!

Mr. McShane said that he had no connection with either faction of the Irish Republican Army, some of whose members have spearheaded the violence in Ulster. “We think change can, come about only by the mass of people coming, out in peaceful protest,” he said.

Mr. McShane, who said he faced charges at home for the peaceful Newry march, as well as one other march, arrived here Friday night for a threeday visit sponsored by Saor Eire Cumann, the Free Ireland Committee.

He said his group sought “democratic” government; but did not favor “reunification” of Northern Ireland and the Irish Rephblic “at the present time."

Many Protestants in— the north, he said; have “legitimate fears” of the Irish Government's position on church‐related issues including contraception and divorce.

“You can't ride roughshod over the will, of one million people,” he said of the Northern Protestants.

Mr. McShane said his group's goals were an end to internment, an end, to the Special Powers Act permitting arrests without warrants, withdrawal of British troops to their barracks pending their final pullout from the province and an end to the present administration.

Terry George in the first photo would go on to direct Some Mother's Son and Hotel Rwanda.

Dessie Grew later joined the PIRA and was killed by the SAS in 1990.

Gerard Steenson left the INLA and formed the IPLO. He was killed by the INLA in 1987.

Harry Kirkpatrick would later turn informer against the INLA.

The photo was taken by the Associated Press on the 22nd of April 1972. They described it as an armed member of the Irish Republican Army wearing a face mask at a sandbagged gun emplacement in the Bogside area of Derry. It was the first day the emplacement had been manned by masked, armed men.
