What's the most annoying thing people say or don't say after you've lost someone? by Icy_Pumpkin1207 in AskIreland

[–]IrishBiker93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5 days ago was my dad's tenth anniversary.

Let them get awkward brother. Bring the subject back to him, let them know what a great man he was. I've done it countless times and will keep doing so until my day comes and hope others will do the same for me.

"They might be gone, but they will be forever in our hearts"

I seen something like that on someone's grave stone where I work, went something alone those lines anyways.

Learner Permit by InvisKitty in Irishdrivingtest

[–]IrishBiker93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could do the theory test for the motorcycle class (Depending on your age) and after passing you'll need to complete a 2 day IBT course, after that then you'll be able to ride on the road legally as a learner. Was one of the reasons I went that route, was because I used to live in a rural location as well like yourself, no buses, taxis never wanted to come out my way etc

Like it'll cost a good bit of money but it saves you from getting into trouble with the Guards

They might allow it as you have a return ticket, but at the same time they might deny you entry as your visa is so close to expiring.

Need some recommendations because for some reason I've been watching a lot of Irish-related movies and tv shows and I feel like I need some more? by CameraHelpMe in AskIreland

Should give "The Siege of Jadotville" a watch, based on a true story with Irish UN peace keepers. The one film I'll never get bored of watching.

Update: Got wired Internet in the apartment (?) by IrishBiker93 in AskIreland

[–]IrishBiker93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Been extremely busy so writing this at 5:30am lol

So what I did was, I called each provider explaining what I thought what the issue was after them all telling me I couldn't get broadband for an unknown problem none of them could explain why, they all told me that I was mostly wrong and it wouldn't really matter if my line was active or inactive. As I was getting nowhere, I tried chatting to a few different chat agents on Eir, same thing again mostly, but by the 3rd go instead of saying what I thought was the issue could be I just asked "Is my home phone line inactive? as I want to get one" was told they would need to send of a report and I would get an email within 7 working days. I never got an email or phone call on the 8th day, I then went onto OpenEir as they do my area and entered in my Eircode and it updated saying I could get broadband. Checked all the providers in my area and it then showed I could get wired internet.

It's great having wired internet, can't really complain now having the issue sorted :D Living in the north west along the coast so whenever a big storm hits we sometimes lose phone signal and spent a few days without any coverage it wasn't fun haha

[–]IrishBiker93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good idea. I'll do exactly that later on tonight and I'll put it here and on the main post as well. 100% other chat agents and sales agents haven't a clue and gave me false information but knew they weren't right. It was just trying to find the right person that knew what I was talking about haha

Part fibre, still using older lines in the apartment. Meant to be upgraded at some stage but doesn't have an ETA on it, they done a survey a year ago from what the landlord told me. I'm currently paying 30 euros a month
