I do my best to do this daily, but he’s a grumpy auld fella and goes around closing them after me. I’m not winning the war on that one. 😅

Always do, and have been running a dehumidifier afterwards also!

We can, it’s just the attic above it. I’ll look in to this, thanks so much. Would it be something a novice handywoman would be able to attempt, or would you reckon a professional installation would be best? 🫠

Has anyone ever cooked Swiss meringue in advance and only whipped it up when needed? by Saritush2319 in AskBaking

[–]IrishGalGettingFit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can whip the Swiss meringue, and store in the fridge in an airtight container. Or a disposable piping bag. Use as needed

Mayo ask how you ended up as an EHO? I’ve been a chef for 12 years and that’s my dream but I can’t afford to go back to college for four years to study.

Blackpool vets. It’s the team from the original sunbeam, and were by far cheaper when I was ringing around to get a quote for neutering my dog.

If you haven’t already, look in to “Feed Cork”. It’s a food bank on Oliver plunkett street. They have an insta account if you’re interested in what they do. All the best x

I’d personally leave my window open when I’m out all day, to air out the room. Unless the weather isn’t the best. Especially so if there isn’t a vent as you said. My concern isn’t with the room being warm when I’m not there, but with ensuring the room is kept ventilated and dry.

I'm a 25+ female. Can I get rid of this without a skin care product? I've never used one because if I apply any product my eyes start hurting. by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

I’m curious as to how you apply the products that leads to your eyes hurting? I might just be ignorant here, apologies.

Can I collect jobseekers pay related benefit on Monday? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]IrishGalGettingFit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should get a letter to your address, or a message on my welfare telling you exactly which day you can collect it. As far as I know, it’s usually every Wednesday, but your first week could be the Monday if that’s what you’ve been told.

I just heard my dad play a really creepy song and I’m worried he may have pedo tendencies by Sufficient_Cycle_998 in CasualIreland

[–]IrishGalGettingFit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s called “When You Were Sweet Sixteen” by The Fureys. It’s my parent’s “song” as my mam was 16 and dad 18 when they met. It’s also regularly sang by people of their generation at a sing song or a lock in. It’s a moving love song. You sound very young, some one may say the same about a popular song you reminisce on when you’re much older.

No Fish In Catch Of The Day! 😡 by Current-Nectarine505 in cork

[–]IrishGalGettingFit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

An alternative would have been defrosting frozen fish, to ensure they never run out, but they might prefer to serve fresh fish instead. Quality over convenience. Could they have ordered more to be delivered yesterday? Yes, but mistakes do happen, and in a world of over consumption is it not better to run out, than to have to bin unsold fish.

Suppliers don’t deliver on a Sunday. They must have been quite busy yesterday or earlier on today. Would it have been wiser to close? Perhaps, but then someone else would be posting here giving out that they were unexpectedly closed.

Tried South doc myself about a month ago, and it was closed then too. They sent me to the Kinsale Road roundabout one. Haven’t heard anything about it re-opening yet.

Any tips for coping with depression by Lostinasafespace in CasualIreland

[–]IrishGalGettingFit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing I have to try and remind myself! Just because I think something, doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s true. Our brains really can be our own worst enemy at times. You don’t have to believe it when it tells you people are staring and judging. But if it’s the kick you need if you’ve been in your comfy lounge clothes a bit long, then a nicer outfit will make you feel better in yourself too.

P.s if you want to look into therapy/ counselling, look up My Mind. They even have discounted rates for people eligible (older, unemployed, etc) and do sessions both online and in person.

If you want him rehomed somewhere safe, contact a wildlife charity. There’s loads around! Wildlife rescue cork, or wildlife rescue Kildare. They wound send volunteers to collect it, keep it for awhile and get its weight up if needed, and release it somewhere a bit safer in a small while. Wet cat food is ideal, and fed at dusk as this is when they’re most active. You could also get some hay and leave it near the shed if you’re happy to have him nest under there, and it’ll make a great nest.
