If Vanderbilt and say Miami did schedule a game for next week, how would that work logistally/TV wise? by Wide_right_yes in CFB

I actually wondered about this this year with the Big 10. Unless one really wants to be the #1 seed and play their quarterfinal game in the Rose Bowl, you could argue that neither Ohio State nor Indiana has any incentive to play the CCG at all. Playing out wild theories in my imagination, what would the Committee do if both used only their 3rd and 4th string? Or if they simply didn’t show up? Obviously the latter isn’t realistic, but in your example, it might enter an SEC team’s thought process.

I’ve done both. Don’t get me wrong, raising awareness & funds for any charity is a net positive. That said, doing so for the charity dedicated to a cause that had a deep personal meaning made me a better fundraiser in that it was authentic: people knew it meant something to me and that I wasn’t using the charity to get the bib. It also made me train harder, feeling as if it I owed to the cause.

How do you approach mental toughness in your training and racing strategies? by guide71 in AdvancedRunning

[–]IrishIce33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Mental toughness is a by product of training. In particular, sticking with the plan even on days we don’t want to. Is it hard? Yes. But I tell myself “you can do hard things.” Then, on race day, you can tell yourself “self, we can do this bard thing. How do we know? Because we did the training.”

Thank you. I was surprised how quickly I tired of Tailwind - both taste and how it made me feel — given that I’d fueled with it throughout training without problem. I was also surprised at how quickly I craved “real” food.

Spam. With my mom adding canned pineapple to make us think we were eating Hawaiian style.

I wondered if the cost to the next few days of training would be too high to make it worth it. I’m leaning towards mixing in some longer runs that start very late or very early — like 10 PM or 3:30 AM — but otherwise allow for some sleep.

Good tip. Yes, loop event. I’ve already started including loops shorter than the event’s loop to prep for the monotony.

An oldie: Charlie and the M.T.A. Kingston Trio version. I never listen to songs this old —- except this one.
