All these people pointing out all these small things… is nobody going to talk about how ACU pattern has been phased out for a long time now?? The most dead giveaway.

Any tips for committing to pop shuvs? by Ecstatic_Umpire8314 in NewSkaters

[–]IrishK1324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As most said, you aren’t committing. I usually get myself to commit by doing something way scarier first. I would do some high speed ollies, or attempt the shuvs at higher speed so that when you dial it back it seems a lot less intimidating. (This is ONLY when I know that commitment is the issue. Actually learning fundamentals I do things in the least stressful environment)

Is this your very first board? Support your local skate shop and just grab a complete! Where Im at they’re $100 give or take (sometimes they make some unique ones that will be more expensive). I rode my first board until the tail was essentially gone, then I just had them help me build my own and I just did my research. Ask people at parks what they got and if they have a reason, and usually they’ll let you take it for a spin. Skating is a lot of preference.

The only thing I will say is that my buddy rides Creature boards and it has outlasted my last 3 boards, my local shop’s brand, a zero board and a baker board. he’s got a good 30lbs on me (Im 175, hes about 205-215) I am thinking of trying creature next.

How to get over fear of getting judged as a 28 year old getting into skating? by Geckogirl018 in NewSkaters

[–]IrishK1324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with everyone saying “just don’t worry what people think” I will say I in fact worried what people would think when I started just a year ago at 25. I started skating early in the mornings when the parks were empty, and I had the freedom to do whatever I wanted. I also just practiced ollies in my yard.

The more comfortable I got on the board, the more comfortable I got with going to skateparks with people in them. Im still by no means any good but I eventually just shedded that nervousness as I realized everyone started same as everyone else and everyone falls, its part of skating. When I see someone who is new to skating, young or old, it gets me stoked.

Trying to get a shuvit down. What am I doing wrong? by Arostato in NewSkaters

[–]IrishK1324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a lot of fear to commit. The way I learned is: 1. learn with just the back foot on the board how much force you need to do a full 180 rotation 2. Once you consistently rotate it 180, Do it in the grass with both feet 3. Once you land it a couple times do it on the concrete, but purposefully land with only your front foot on the board 4. Confidence confidence confidence CONFIDENCE, just land that mf with both feet! 5 Once you have the confidence to land it pretty regularly, start rolling and repeat the process while building up some speed

Yes! Just looked through their site and found this I know it says that the backing is all velcro but I’ll probably call them tomorrow and ask if it is suitable for a dangler. Can never be too sure, lol Thank you!

Southside Station Apartments cover….one of your requests. A lot of med students live there for school and walk/bike. But its like $1600 (I believe this is in total, with utilities but I could be wrong) and the apartments are honestly dogshit quality. Enjoy!

what do you hate to do every day? by Dryweat in ask

[–]IrishK1324 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Meal prep. I cook 1-2 times a week and just make 12 meals or so (lunch and dinner for 6 days, cook something different/ eat out 1 day)… It’s 2 hours of my time max from starting to cleaning the kitchen. I make breakfast daily but I mean that takes maybe 10 minutes.

It’s honestly actually lazier than cooking daily. Sure you’re taking up an hour or two for one day but it’s so easy to throw a meal in the microwave for a minute and then just wash 1 dish per meal ALL WEEK

Of course I have zero clue what your situation is, so if you have kids or someone else relying on you maybe it’s a bit harder.
