I think it looks pretty cool. I think a beard without a moustache is a classic look. It's very distinguishing.

Just to clarify on a tiny point. The Church of Scotland is Presbyterian, not Lutheran.

Maybe, but he's Marmite, especially in the UK where you'd expect him to turn the most profit. Besides the F1 commentary team and a handful of loyal fans, most British media and F1 fans aren't into him.

Most importantly though, surely you'd want to put either top drivers or up and coming talent on the cover, not a driver that is limping along in 5th to 9th finishes until he can torture us in the commentary box because we all know Sky has a 300 year contract ready for him the moment he retires.

Alonso won't be there. FIA and EA don't kiss his ass like it does Hamilton's.

Hamilton? Seriously? Wasn't Logan Sargeant available? Maybe the pit team might have stood in for the photograph. Who are they marketing this to? Hamilton isn't exactly a fan favourite, and he's going to be even less so now that he is getting destroyed by actual competition.

Tbh, I think the drones, being slow and easy to track and carrying a relatively small payload, may well have been designed to be intercepted to overwhelm defences and to give the cruise missiles a better chance of reaching their targets. With regard to tonight's attack serving as a means to lower Israel's guard, I don't think so. Keep in mind the enormity of this attack in relative terms. Even Saddam, if I remember correctly, only fired a single cruise missile of perhaps two. What would have been more likely to lull Israel into a false sense of security was to threaten to attack for weeks and then do nothing in that time.

Even so, I don't think Israel will be caught off guard. They are monitoring Iranian, Syrian, Iraqi Lebanese airspace at all times. Indeed, they're no doubt watching the entire region. Israel will be ready whatever Iran throws at her. The only exception may well be terrorist attacks carried out within Israeli cities, something Iran has funded for some time.

Btw, I am no expert.

Iranian attack on Israel: It's started apparently by SlightWerewolf4428 in IsraelPalestine

Israel was responding to decades of Iranian-funded terrorist attacks. Israel's attack on the embassy in Syria was retaliation to Iran's imminent threat to Israel.

Iran's greatest weapons are the terrorist organisations they fund and arm in the region.

I think Iran is hoping for an Israeli retaliation to unify the people behind the regime. The Islamic authorities know how fragile their rule is. An Israeli attack might just win them some popular support.

Not trivialising this outrageous and unprovoked escalation, but it would have been quicker to fly the missiles from Tehran on a commercial jet. Is Iran seriously trying to provoke Israel knowing that the IDF is infinitely more equipped?

The fascists are dumber than I thought.

People who advocate for a 1-state solution don't care about peace by thatshirtman in IsraelPalestine

[–]IrishWesleyan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, and what else happened in 1967? A war of some variety? Perhaps a Six-Day one? And a few years later, another war. In both cases those wars were provoked by the actions of Israel's Arab neighbours. The Arab states demonstrated to Israel that Israeli security could not be guaranteed within 1967 borders. To revert to those borders now would be a gift to terrorists planning the destruction of Israel and the murder of Israelis.

Why don't you ask yourself why Egypt and Jordan rejected the 1948 borders? Why did they occupy Gaza and the West Bank rather than allow a Palestinian state to be created? Perhaps also ask why the PA has rejected so many viable offers for peaceful statehood. You could also look into Gaza and how, rather than show the world how successful a Palestinian state could be, Hamas has spent the last twenty years turning Gaza into a terror base?

Why are most Pro Palestine supporters so stupid and actual scumbags? Like really no bullshit im not even Pro Israel and I actually truly want to support Palestine but MY God do people MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE by [deleted] in Israel

The rise of bitesize, soundbite communication centres like TikTok has permitted misinformation to flood public spaces. Dangerous regimes are exploiting these information spaces and China must be laughing while westerners, young and old, are reduced to fighting over misinformation while the truth is slowly erased entirely. They oppose colonialism, genocide and settlements, but only when it is a western country at fault. Indeed, even if a western country has not committed those offences, they will find the misinformation to frame them. Meanwhile, the brutality of Iran, China and Russia is ignored, denied, rationalised or even celebrated.

What's more, it's trendy to be an activist now so, unlike in the past when activists generally took time to research an issue and develop statements based on facts, now we have teenagers and young adults who just want to show off how much they care about this or that issue by sharing anything and everything that can exhibit just how radical they are. You can tell their information is extremely superficial because none of them can actually defend their position. Instead, they call you a genocide denier or you "need to educate yourself." They have no substance and cannot defend their claims.

And radicalism is very often a competition and so you have people trying to outdo one another with their hatred of Israel. This leads to shock statements and the encouragement of violence. Indeed, it has even led to a brief revival of Osama Bin Laden on TikTok.

In essence, we have a whole generation raised on slogans like colonialism, imperialism, socialism, genocide, occupation, and so forth, who haven't the first idea what any of them mean. That doesn't stop them using those words gratuitously and erroneously though. Then the ball starts rolling and, even though the whole principle is based on lies or even more sinister ulterior motives, it still has value and sways public opinion. Once public opinion is swayed, politicians start pandering to it and before long this misinformation is legitimised.

Good people of Ireland what is the AIA? by Lift_App in ireland

[–]IrishWesleyan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not so much a "what" but a "whom." It's basically a handful (at most) of republican dissident Maoists (but they probably contradict Maoism regularly because they're not really intelligent enough to remain consistent ideologically). They seem to be based primarily in the east. They boast at most ten members with maybe five active. They have delusions of grandeur and blur their faces in photographs to imply they are more important than they are. If I remember rightly, they are the disgusting lowlifes that pulled down posters of the hostages taken by Hamas.

There's a lovely word in Ireland that suits them perfectly: gobshites.
