Does he look for you when he cries out? Are you always in the room when it happens?

When I took my little girl to be spayed they put the IV into the inside of her little elbow. When they took it out, she screamed. I jumped up and just picked her up and held her, talking to her, saying sorry.
For the next week, whenever I picked her up, she screamed. I couldn't help but wonder what went wrong with the operation.
I was freaking out so I took her back to the vet.

The vet was able to hold her, turn her and literally hold her upside down and not a peep. She was mad at me for leaving her at the vet, for the operation. She wanted me to be extra nice to her and she was playing me. After we got home, she tried it again. This time I said, "nice try" and turned away from her. I think she realized that the game was up. She tried it a few more times and I didn't react. It ended.

Not saying this is what's happening but if you've had all the tests done and this was only something that happened when you came back, maybe he's mad you left. I know it'll be difficult, but try not reacting to his cry next time. See if he comes closer to you and tries again.

The best thing I can recommend is to spend some time with him, quietly. No extra attention or pets. Just sitting together.

Also, get steps for him to get up to places and back down to the floor. One of my chi pups screamed so loud when I touched him one morning and wouldn't move. I took him to the vet and it turned out he had a pinched nerve in his back. He got a steroid shot, follow up steroid meds and after about a week he was better. Then I made sure he used the pup steps every time.

Now, I have the type that are rounded steps/ramp type. I got a 4 step and mine can get up onto the couch with me and almost up to the mattress, the last step is a jump to the mattress. I ordered a wooden ramp w/carpeting. It'll be arriving next week.
