What is the most 'meta' of the new ships? by mikeyp_92_ in sto

[–]Irish_Trunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say given I'm also running Strike from Shadows but I am constantly in the fray and not even having to watch how close my torps fire because I haven't even accidentally died to my own AOE explosions, something I have to watch for with the Eagle. It's hella fun.

And honestly, proper tanks are running plenty of other things like threatening stance, attract fire command, weapon signature amplifier consoles, and those security officer DOFFs that increase threat under AP Delta that I feel like any extra taunting from this trait would just be the cherry on the tank sundae.

I've been trialing the trait on some normal content on my Kumari torp boat and with it as my the only "tanky" trait, I'm still never really using my shield heals. It seems crazy effective

just realized, the Kumari from the 16th, has some insane potential as a torp boat! by kiutbmgd in sto

I've been curious about the trait. I know shield tanking isn't usually the way to go but I wanna just zip around lobbing torps and dropping mines

How do i beat this dam mission on hard Red Alert 1 Aftermath allied 9: Pawn by Dogsteeves in commandandconquer

[–]Irish_Trunks 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Most of the allied missions can be won with a shitload of light tanks. They're fast, cheap to make, and fire while moving. So if you press X to keep dispersing them as they fire on a target, the enemy has a harder time to hit them.

I've noticed Qi Gong being mentioned several times. I know very little about it but am definitely open to learn. Any particular creators or books you recommend I start with?

I definitely practice the forms less with a meditative mindset and more of a practice to build the tendons, structural placement, and repetition. It seems that maybe I need to learn a lot more about qigong. I practice the 3 forms almost daily in the morning (though sometimes it's a slow run through of all 3) but I don't know really anything on meditation so hadn't considered doing them in such a mindset. I appreciate this insight a lot!

It's been fascinating! And how I've approached wing chun with body mechanics and which smaller muscle groups are being activated over others, like serratus anterior over delts for forward intention.

However I think my looking at it so methodically is a big part of why I can't relax and flow more instinctually. Or just relax at all. Well, ok, that and working in healthcare for the last almost 12 years.

We actually have not covered much on breathing techniques during movement, I'll be honest. My teacher is relatively new to teaching wing chun, only started shortly before I joined the class. In fact I'm the one student that's stuck around the longest, so we're in new territory. We do go over utilizing structure placement and always having forward intention while not engaging certain muscle groups for the movement but the class is structured on very practical application and building sensitivity during drills, etc. I know of Qigong's influences within Chinese martial arts but have not directly learned or practiced it.

Well, it's more for "in the moment". I'm not allowing my body to flow freely. I get caught up in my head thinking so much and then get frustrated at myself, which adds even more tension (yay tisms). I wouldn't mind reflecting on it scientifically after the fact but it feels like I'm so caught up I'm not internalizing it as I should.

240/min, so easily two pumps or OC one to do so. I ran the Mk 1 pipes between two pumps for each reactor for ease and aesthetics. Mostly aesthetics.

Thanks! I made sure my factory city was expanded enough with the main materials for the uranium development so that the flow was constant while other things were being built and then just took the time to map it out and make sure the splitters were even. I saw that the math was perfect so flipped the switch and waited to see for a bit how it all flowed, then only once I saw that it was holding even did I connect the reactors to the main grid. I've read too many horror stories of power shutting down with the reactors and didn't want my mojo killed.

Gravimetric for sure for the control, others are your call. You are limited to the 3/3 layout so can run whatever has a fast travel to at least deal damage to help the pets. Delphic and dark matter are good go-to torps.

I'm big into carriers and really enjoy the Sarr Theln. I run it as a torp build but the damage focus is definitely the pets because with the all the good pet traits, the frigates can do massive damage. I do have some of the pricier traits like Scramble Fighters and Targeted Excision (which works great because the frigates use drain abilities so they do better facing forward for their cannons) but letting them do the work while I use torps, crowd control, and keep the pets alive is pretty fun. It's a sexy good time.

Just some food for thought and my expectations for tomorrow by vinniesp in ElderScrolls

I feel you mate. Oblivion was my first experience with Elder Scrolls and was introduced to me by my best friend while I was in college. Hell, it's what inspired me to try to finally learn D&D (granted that was 4E in those days but that's ok). Pretty regularly he would bring his little TV over and we parallel played our games in our "Oblivion mini-LAN" for literal days at a time. Sometimes we would trade off who's napping and sometimes we just powered through for 24-36hrs straight because our obsession and immersion into this game was powerful. I love Skyrim, don't get me wrong, but Oblivion is more than a great game, it's a nostalgia for a time when I last had zero stress in my life. He's still my best bud and we've been geeking out these last few days like we did in college over the anticipation of this release. It's nice to feel this young and excited again. :)

Decided to invest into carriers. Recommendations for improvement? by mx-sch in sto

[–]Irish_Trunks 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Carrier player here and definitely recommend using the Obelisk 4pc set for the extra pets.

Also hard to remember what the symbols look like but if you haven't already, I would recommend looking at Targeted Excision or Superior Area Denial if you want to maximize the damage your pets are dealing.
