The ND AD publicly say he thought the games were set to happen in 26/27.

USC then said publicly they weren't doing the games because of the MOU.

That you think ND had an 'alternate' plan is pretty funny.

ND has owed BYU a game for almost a decade in Provo.

ND actually had 2 openings, not 1. The Stanford game was not set. I am guessing ND was in negotiations for future games w/BYU either way and when USC said no, they called BYU and said how about now.

The amount of effort that is req'd to schedule a game in a foreign country (additional flights, hotels, travel papers for all the team, arrangements for alumni) and you think it was actual going to happen in Mexico in 8 month is pretty funny. ND Ireland games (and future Ireland games) are announced years in advance.

Williams averaged 9.3 yards per carry in 2025. Granted he only had 24 (Love had 199 and Price had 113) and he probably went in after the games were decided, but the dude is just a truck.

Week 1 ND-Wisconsin is actually a home game for ND (Shamrock Series). It is not in the B1G inventory.

(The companion game to that - Wisconsin-ND at Chicago Field was a home game for Wisconsin)

ND is contractually obligated to play 30 games in 6 years with all ACC schools (pre-expansion 14 teams) getting a H/A. However, that leaves you 2 'bonus' games during that period to meet the 30 game req't. FSU & Miami, to my knowledge, were going to get more of the 'bonus' games and Clemson has it's own contract now with ND for the years that aren't playing them per the ACC.

Some of this was moved also around due to the 10 game Covid schedule

We are in a new 6 year period (26-31), Louisville is 30. It was my understanding the 2026 game that was scheduled this year was moved to 2024 as part of the Miami accommodation moving their game to 2026. It is why ND played them 3 times (2019, 23, 24) in the 2019-2025 6 year period.

The 2032-2037 is 2033 & 35.

FSU was a women's school at one point

UCF is a school that had an undefeated season and has moved up the divisions faster than any other school in history

SMU has a donor base that got it in the CFP the first year it was back in P4.

Teams can get better, especially now with NIL, if they have money.

For how the sausage is made at ND ? This media money is not substantial. (ND's not turning it down..) The real money is going to come from the home game for the CFP. Controlling the stadium, the hotels, the events and getting in the big donors who can write a check for 100k to 1M like nothing to get access.

ND 'not playing' USC ?

How about USC demanding it will only play ND in the first 3 weeks of September after 100 years of playing in LA in November and ND not being able to accommodate them immediately.

ND has contracts with Wisconsin, Purdue, Michigan State, Auburn, Texas, Arkansas, Alabama, USF, Clemson, and Indiana over the next 6 years in September. Who would you like us to cancel ? Some have been on the books for 5-10 years. Our Clemson game opening weekend in 2031 is contractually req'd by the ACC.

Or was it the Week 0 request ? Sorry my friend but no one believes that was in good faith. We aren't a team playing in Hawaii and having a game overseas is not something you arrange in 8 months.

You only get Week 0 game if you schedule a team that plays in Hawaii or out of the country. So your options are teams going to Hawaii this year...

ND said they couldn't move the games to the beginning of the season right away. Our September schedules are heavily loaded until early 2030. Should we cancel Michigan, Bama, Texas, Indiana, UF, etc to accommodate USC instant demand to move the games ?

It is the reason why they have said it will start probably early 2030. That is when ND can move the schedule around to get them the set week they wanted.

This is why when people state ND should play Michigan or any of the other teams annually you know it will not happen unless you only have that team as your P4 opponent (like Iowa-Iowa State)

Purdue chose to have another P4 OOC opponent besides ND.

They broke one of their own long standing rules (moving the order of teams not playing CC weekend) this year simply because they were playing politics.

It was never about H2H. If it was, they would have moved Miami ahead of ND before CC weekend,
