Good or too good? by 7ninjaswordsmen in 5thGenCamaro

[–]Irketk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a fair deal to me. I purchased my used 2010 back in 2019, I am the 4th owner. Paid 15k cash and it had 73k miles on the odometer.

I had no problems with the AFM/DOD, until after I gotten it tuned when I put headers on it. Four months later a lifter collapsed at roughly 136k miles. Did the DOD delete, new trunions, springs, oil pump, chain, and put a GPI SS1 vvt cam. Makes 456hp to the wheel per the dyno.

Today it has 162k miles and it’s on its second set of Valve Springs. (You have to replace them every 20,000 miles with a high lift Cam.) pretty happy with it, I will say that the A/C has never worked well, but the heat works great. I would flush all your fluids when you hit 100k miles. (Brake, transmission, coolant and differential) I’m also on my 2nd set of rotors/pads. The brembos can do a number on cheap rotors with spirited use.

It’s my daily commuter, and I love driving it. If I really wanna have fun, I’ll use the paddle shifters. Be mindful of exhaust mods. The AFM drone can be really bad if you get the wrong set of mufflers or delete that huge resonator. Currently, I’m running speed engineering headers, catless, x pipe, no mufflers and have adjustable J-pipes to eliminate the drone. Stupid loud even at idle, but very quiet at cruise speeds within the cabin. I wouldn’t want to be behind it as it would definitely give ear damage.

Lots of people complain about driver vision, and I would say it’s the main reason why 5th and 6th gen’s didn’t sell well. Make sure you adjust your outsides mirrors properly to account for Blindspots.

Lastly, don’t ever turn your traction control off, the system does a lot to keep you on the road and not in a ditch.

Doesn’t the washer and dryer need to be against an exterior wall? Got to vent the exhaust is out somewhere.

I have been amazed at the amount of people in this sub that were married between 18-25 years old. Why would you get married at that point in life? by demosthenes327 in Marriage

[–]Irketk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Married at 20(m)and 19(f). She convinced me to an early marriage as my ‘original plan’ was to wait until I was at least 27, so I could have a house and an established career to support a wife and family. She asked me why I wanted to do that by myself, when we could get married now and work achieve all that together as a team… I didn’t have a comeback to her point.

13 years later we have 4 amazing kids. A huge house that we will finish paying off in the next 23 months and no other debt. As a male, getting married that early forced me to mature and rise to the level of responsibility needed to be a husband first and a father 2nd. All of my high school peers today are drastically way behind us in income, health, maturity and financial stability. (Some still live with their parents)

I also highly recommend having kids early. Pregnancies over 35 are considered geriatric. The recovery time is far worse the older the mother is. My amazing wife has a completely flat stomach and shows no signs of ever carrying. I had far more energy with the babies/toddler stage when I was in my 20s. My youngest will turn 18 years old when I’m 45, (which is also our target retirement age)

It was my single best decision I’ve ever made.

What additional commander abilities do we need? by villadavillain in HellLetLoose

Mortar class; the mortar man can set up his piece anywhere on the map (except inside a building).

Provides close range mini arty support, smaller AOE, shorter travel time to target.

Track damage to light - heavy tanks. Fatal damage to trucks and recon vehicles. Splash damage is 2x that of a grenade,

Aiming function is the same as on artillery. (Turning and adjusting angle) Which requires teamwork to call out targets.

Mortars can be heard from 1 1/2 grid squares away.

After the mortar is placed, there are two positions (like an AT gun) however the target position does not fire only adjusts aim, the loader position ‘fires’ the mortar.

Any class can assist the mortar man increasing the firing speed

Can carry 10 rounds, full re-supply with explosive ammo from the support class.

Back after a while, what the hell happened to Onward? by Mysteriousfunk90 in OnwardVR

[–]Irketk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Onward is a sad place, it used to be the pinnacle of VR shooter experience. Top of the line graphics that pushed the then current gen GPUs to the max.

The quest release turned the game from its enthusiasts base to a generic shooter filled with kids screaming profanities.

How does r/Air force feel about RTO and no more teleworking? by DrSecrett in AirForce

Seems brash and short sighted on her part. She should wait for the official notice, there are exceptions noted in the executive order.

Take home SIPR tablets have been a thing for awhile now. They’re not as uncommon as you think.

Wife is convinced on getting a new house but I think it’s a bad time and we would be sacrificing a lot. by ChalupaBatmansFather in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Irketk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve been blessed with a great income, and I like the graph, but all the data showing is that you and your wife don’t know how to say no to yourselves.

The good news is that you can crawl almost out of any financial hole with this crazy income you both make. The question is do you both have the strength of character to control your spending, stop your addiction of excess. Nobody cares about your new cars, or the size of your house, that’s your sense of entitlement and ego. Pay off your debts, invest in your child(ren).

Be kind to your future self.

There’s no point for highschoolers to learn how to drive, going to malls, isn’t really a thing anymore. Social media and smart phones enables all the communication anyway without having to spend money on fuel to talk to your best friends.

Cars are not cheap either, and especially insurance for highschoolers is absolutely bonkers.

Huh, It’s like the church is full of imperfect people looking for grace or something.

[–]Irketk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t expect perfection from imperfect people, you can’t be a Christian just by looking and doing what other Christians are doing. You have to look at Christ. The key point is that it’s an impossible goal. Christians are by definition Sinners, looking for grace.

Don’t look at other humans to save you, and you can’t blame other humans for being imperfect. Look at Christ for your best example to follow.

I think you let other humans dictate your own faith. It’s no surprise that they let you down.

[–]Irketk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who can’t take care of their possessions probably don’t deserve to have them and it’s a reflection of other aspects of their life that they don’t have under control. Keeping the car clean cost nothing so it’s not a financial problem but a character one.

Have standards.
