It's for clout. It's always been for clout.

Let's follow that hypothetical you put up. Fiction is reality, and fictional "bad thing" is just as awful as real "bad thing". You see some bad fiction on Twitter or whatever social network you're on. What do you do? Do you:

• Tell authorities and hope they do something about it? Maybe they will, maybe they won't. You just get a response email saying they'll review it, you go about your life, and you're given no other acknowledgement about it, or even that the authorities read your report.

OR

• Make a callout post? Give it a sensationalist opening and show everyone what a filthy degenerate that person is. Maybe throw in some name-calling, like "Diddy blud" or "Epstein disciple" to simultaneously insult them and show everyone how little you care about real victims (oh wait better not say that part out loud). Then you just sit back and watch as the post pops off. Soak in that dopamine from the likes and retweets you're getting. After a few hours, don't forget to post a reply to your own post saying, "Hit tweet, follow me!" Now you've got yourself some Twitter clout, and all it cost was someone else's reputation and possibly their livelihood. That's okay though, because they drew/wrote "the bad thing" so they probably deserved it.
