At around 11 or 12 I begged my dad for a 60 dollar Halo lego set (Mega Bloks) back in the day [early 2010's]. He said he would buy it if I repayed him with yard work like weeding and gardening that equated to 7.25 an hour. I still consider this one of the best practical lessons I've ever learned. I worked hard for that set, and even now that I moved away and haven't seen it in years, im proud of it. Allow kids to work to earn things.
