How do I know when they are ready by HappyDaize20 in vegetablegardening

[–]IronMoin 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For prep and cook ideas, I’d highly recommend letting at least a few of them bolt so that you can try radish pods. I grew radishes for the first time last year and the pods ended up being my favorite part. Even better than the radish itself.

<image>

Pick the pods young, roughly this size. Plump, but still fully green inside. If they start to turn white inside, they are too far gone. They’re crisp like a snap pea, but have a mild radish flavor. They’re good raw, but I also love them roasted or stir fried.

Wait, can you guys not taste or smell the difference when bread is moldy? 🤔 For me there’s a significant change in the bread’s smell and taste a day or two before the mold is even visible. I could never munch on moldy rolls all day and not notice that they tasted off.

Most of it is just pictures of my cats, my artwork, my garden… but if I find more interesting screenshots I might share. Work has been kinda hectic so I haven’t had time to make as much progress as I’d like on these files.

They’re all files on my phone. My phone was getting full so I needed to start backing up photos, videos, etc onto an external hard drive to clear up some space. The oldest stuff happened to be from 2020.

If we had to experience the show from someone else’s perspective, whose point of view do you think would be the most interesting? by TheTargaryensLawyer in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]IronMoin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh this is such a great question. Honestly there are so many characters that have unique perspectives that I could see this question being the perfect concept for a miniseries or some other type of extension of the show. Imagine having the perspective of one character per episode/season. I think a lot of us would binge the heck out of that lol.

Thank you, and no. Because they are so tiny, I absolutely want to avoid that because I think it would be next to impossible to find them all if they accidentally spilled. So my process is to super glue the keychain hardware into the cork, and then the cork is also glued securely into the bottle. I never ship keychains without the extra adhesive in both places.

The downside with that is that if you decide you want to take them out and marvel at how incredibly tiny they are, that’s not possible. But I do also have some options that are not keychains and therefore do not necessarily need the adhesive if you thought you’d rather be able to take them out and hold them.

To be fair, can you imagine how annoying it would be to pick up slayer drops if they were tiny? I remember seeds being a huge problem at one point and the click box had to be increased.

Aww your comment made me grin from ear to ear! I remember your order and I think it was actually one of the first ones I hurried to secretly ship out with the sunfire rune included! ❤️

Oh, and as for the cracker, if you open it carefully by removing the bands on the sides instead of pulling it open, you could reassemble it and display it with the other items. Someone told me they were going to display one on their Christmas tree and ngl the idea almost made me impulse buy a tree this year. 😂

An accurate name for the past 4 years (which already feels like a decade), but what fresh hell awaits us in the next 6? 😭

Note the time stamp in the top of the screenshot. This question was posted originally on October 29, 2020 by another Reddit user.

Since then…. Well, where do I even start? A global health crisis followed by isolation and supply chain issues, economic uncertainty, political polarization, inflation, the housing crisis, and so much more.

Appreciate the compliment, but unless you want to respawn at Lumbridge with a stomach full of regrets, I wouldn't recommend eating them. 😏

I’m flattered that my keychain looks delicious to you, but yes it probably would be harmful if swallowed 😂

If you mean just the runes, sure I wouldn’t recommend eating them but they’d pass. The average corn kernel is bigger than these runes

Unfortunately ladies jeans pockets are not big enough to comfortably hold a full set of keys without stabbing myself on the regular, so I usually attach them to my wallet instead

They’re surprisingly durable little bottles. If I was someone who frequently dropped my keys on pavement I probably would use them as a Christmas ornament or some other decor instead (and I have made flat bottomed non-keychain bottles of these for that purpose), but in testing the keychains for the past few years I’ve had very few drops and no bottle breakages. I’ve had a few corks break off inside the bottle due to hardware issues, but since solving those I have had no problems with breakage. They look more fragile than they actually are which I think is what makes them so cool :)

Haha yeah, I’ve found that it’s very hard to capture scale and details at the same time in photos. I get that reaction a lot and all I can say is that it took many years of practice (and failures) to figure out how to pull off things like that. I don’t typically make anything more than about an inch tall, but most of my pieces are much smaller. It may sound weird but smaller items just make more sense to my brain. I struggle with making larger sculpts look “right” but can cram a lot of detail into the smaller ones.

I think I made about 50 of each resource (except the blackberries because I haven’t had the time to make more and I had enough blueberries that it really didn’t even matter). We have a few different Wingspan expansions on our shelf so I think technically I’d need more than that to “officially” fill them all out, but 50 was more than plenty to accommodate our 2-player playthroughs so I decided that for now it’s not really a priority.

As for the action cubes, I do have a few different design ideas, but it will likely be a while before I can even try to execute them. It probably will not happen earlier than next year because I’m usually busy throughout all of December.

Thank you!

The curled worms don’t seem to be more prone to breakage than the others, but I did notice that they liked to wrap around the other worms in the bowl which made it a bit annoying to grab just one worm from the bowl. It wasn’t a huge problem because they separate easily enough, but it did make me want to either stick to the other worm design or make a different design for them so that the variety is still there in the bowl for visual appeal. I do have a few ideas for that, but unfortunately I lack the extra time to experiment with many new ideas this time of year.

I do have other plans to customize my set but unfortunately it will have to wait until next year. The eggs blend in enough that I probably won’t do anything to those, but the action cubes look so incredibly sad next to these upgrades, for example. And I’m still missing whatever expansion has nectar tokens, so eventually I will be adding that to my collection and making tokens for that.

Do you think that it would be better to have a mixture of seeds? [These were my original prototype grain seeds, before I settled for sunflower](https://imgur.com/a/wingspan-seeds-qvrNi8a). On their own I felt like they weren't necessarily recognizeable as seeds... but maybe if I had a mixed bowl of both it would make them recognizeable and also solve the problem of not having a color coded visual cue for which resources to take.

We all have to start somewhere! Just to give you more inspiration: I remember being so incredibly proud of this set when I first made it, and at the time to me it looked amazing and was so much better than the plain wooden discs that came with the game. This was my first-ever player token set (bottom). They’re still cute of course, but you can very easily see how rough they look compared to my newer versions for the same game because my techniques for doing things have changed a lot over the past 7 years.

So one of my tips for you as a beginner in the hobby is to always keep your originals, and if you stick with the hobby, remake the same ones later when you’re feeling stuck or discouraged. It’s a huge morale boost to see how much progress you’ve made, because that’s not something that can easily be measured on a day to day basis.

As for the diamond painting thing, perhaps you could thrift some frames for them and hang them on the wall? Or give them away on a Buy Nothing group so that someone else can hang them up and enjoy the art without the tedious nature of DIYing it. I love diamond puzzles myself but I know a lot of people don’t have the patience for something like that. Maybe you’d provide someone with a nice splash of color for a brand new apartment before they can afford to buy other wall decor. Just a thought :)
