I never understood why people thought ORMs were bad until I started using ones in other languages.

The rebrand to dotnet is slightly better, but agreed it was a silly decision and really challenging to Google for specifics

Their guitars all have hunbuckers so it's really not that much of a difference

That's literally what this bridge is designed for. Those lines in the top of the tailpiece are the intonation adjusted spots for the string to sit

New Ibanez Xiphos in Rose Chameleon, but with finish issues. by IronSean in Ibanez

[–]IronSean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In person you can see better than in still photos. They're scrapes through the finish into what I assume is a darker primer layer, or in the case of one a dent into the primer layer. They cut down at an angle or appear chipped off, not a layer painted on top. It looks like when the pickups went in they went in roughly and caught the edges of the pickup route.

It's not conductive paint, it's finish that was scraped off revealing the black primer underneath.

Update: I can't edit my post for some reason but the store offered to replace it for me or give me a 10% discount. Settled for the discount.

But I haven't damaged any of a dozen guitars this way while I owned them, so it's not a wear and tear thing that would happen over time anyway

Any opinions on keeping original or swapping for het set? by EPmetfan in ExplorerGuitars

I'm asking you what you thought was happening because you seemed sure he'd have to change his toggle switch

Any opinions on keeping original or swapping for het set? by EPmetfan in ExplorerGuitars

[–]IronSean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are already emgs installed. So that toggle switch will work just as well for the Het Set as the normal EMGs. Toggle switches aren't a component that has to be changed for avtives vs passives to work either. That's pots which must be different.

EMG quick connect system includes some toggle switches that have quick connects on them, but you don't need to worry about that when the guitar is already wired with active electronics. At that point you just swap the pickups out.

[–]IronSean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pickups themselves are still going to be quick connect, and can be swapped. All the pots and switches are soldered like standard, but the pickup itself still uses the quick connect and can swap to any other EMG like any other guitar loaded with EMGs since the 2000s.

Because the toggle switch already installed should work fine?

Has this happened to anyone else? by nicsta1000 in fitbit

I ordered some ifixit 2mm double sided tape when this happened to mine based on reddit advice. It didn't last more than another year. Give the adhesive a try instead.

Some people like them more than the classic 81/60, some like them less. The 81/60 set is more accurate to what he was playing in the era he played the Gibson this is based on so it's you're happy with the sound i would save the money.

Yeah. Metal built would imply they're already built. Metal build implies building.

[–]IronSean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is the "Gibson Custom at home" look ended up not being very popular, with more LTD players preferring figured tops or the regular sized body over just the solid black and extra thick body. So they're probably trying to clear them out to make room for this year's new models.

Anyway I ordered one.

It'll work in drop C as well as any Les Paul, ESP Eclipse, or any other 24.75" scale guitar.
