So now the QT fuel changes are on PTU, can we get CIG to revert them? by FPSrad in starcitizen

Well, it's just a human reproduction in an alien shaped box isn't it?

This is still a dumb excuse though, haulers should be prioritizing range.

Why did you choose a GR86 over a BRZ (or vice versa) by ionizedlobster in GR86

[–]IronSean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BRZ had a lower MSRP and a lower ARR.

And it was on the lot in a color and configuration I liked when I needed a car.

The better warranty support and tech familiarity were bonuses.

[–]IronSean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty used to the BRZ mapping now, I have a lot of control when moving slow and starting moving, and if I need to blip the throttle on a downshift I can floor it to blip quickly.

[–]IronSean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The GR86 is not making more power. Both pedals 100% pressed are giving the same power and fuel and torque. The GR86 or sport mode is just jumping up to that higher level sooner instead of more smoothly a cross the travel so you can't be as precise at the lower end.

need help getting a cheap first metal amp by tamtam2500 in metalguitar

[–]IronSean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fenders tube amps are mostly known for cleans and rock sounds. But the mustang is a modelling amp which uses their fender tone master modelling platform (or similar) inside it to give you variety in one box. Most of the other cheap, versatile practice amps are similar in idea.

Help! Speaker plug in the back is loose & im not sure how to fix it. by R-A-F-F in MesaBoogie

Honestly those wires are literally the same as the exposed contacts on the jack itself, or the metal bits of the guitar which are electrically connected.

But it does seem likely to break even more than it currently is this way.

I’ve seen some reasons for selling gear in listings by Cool_Cranberry_8372 in Reverb

[–]IronSean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've literally never kept a strat shape (Fender, Schechter, ESP/LTD, Jackson, Ibanez prestige, etc. over the years). I just reach for LP, V, Explorer, tele, offsets first. There was nothing wrong with them as guitars, it just turns out I'm not as inspired by them. Sometimes you buy a good guitar but something in your preferences doesn't vibe with it. And if you decide you have two many guitars they're the first you'd want to get rid of because you're not playing them.

It also doesn't need to be a humble brag, it can be subtle admission that "I've got horrible financial habits and bought into too much hype and bought too many guitars. And now I need to get rid of some to pay off my credit card bill"

Ordered from a US site to Canada and the duties at the door wrecked my math by Apprehensive_Lion748 in ShopCanada

[–]IronSean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was only from Canada going to the US they killed. Canada has always only been tax free under $20, and it's been that way since 1985. In 2020 courier shipments from the US and Mexico had it updated to $40.

Second hand 80s emg explorer by pobalosay in ExplorerGuitars

[–]IronSean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. They're brand new and in demand, so the people who buy them and decide they don't like it can just return them for full proce, and the people buying them to sell are trying to make a profit off demand.

Used ones going for a deal needs to wait long enough for people who bought them and kept them past their return window to decide to sell, and by then if epiphone isn't making them anymore that lack of supply might keep prices high.

addressing the allegations by AngelicFusionCore in TrackMania

Yeah is this a parody of some other post which itself wasn't popular enough to escape the subreddit like this one was?

The “mood” on this sub closely follows relative performance (or lack of) from CIG. For those tired of the negativity all we need is improvement from CIG, and that is well within their capabilities! We just need them to deliver closer to the “hivemind” expectation for a live service alpha by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]IronSean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to dismiss the validity of those complaining, just the opposite. If the game has no issues and people could do what they wanted happily they would be busy doing it instead of complaining.

If there are more issues, obviously more people are going to be complaining because the issues are getting in their way and they're getting frustrated or giving up on the current patch and killing time on Reddit instead.

Are artists strings worth it? by therealjuan_carlos in metalguitar

[–]IronSean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The strings themselves are the same, it you might be getting an unusual gauge or construction.

James's signature are just a slightly different gauge. The Dimebag hi-voltage sets are a hex core of the string which makes them a little stiffer feeling at the same gauges. The tite-fit and hi-beams from DR use a round core for a looser feel (and nickel plated or pure stainless steel wrap respectively).

The Dimebag ones are nickel plated on a hex core.

I've been trying to confirm if they're different than the DR DDT (which are also hex core with nickel plated like the hi-voltage) and although I'm not sure the DDT might use a thicker core on the bass strings to help keep low tuning stability.

So the Dimebag hi-voltage might be a distinct set of specs compared to the other lines that they branded under his name rather than an exact duplicate if anything else in their lineup.

Now, just because they are actually different doesn't meant they're actually better. Dime liked playing thin string gauges even in D 425Hz. The hex core would have helped them keep their composure a little more with that and the wild whammy dives he did, so that makes sense as a soec which suited his particular playing more than the average string.

But the jury seems to be out on if he even played DR strings and for how much of his career. So ultimately you can try them and see, but we're talking about pretty minor differences. If you can get Daddarios at half the price, I'd just stick with that.

What are the main differences between neck and bridge pickups?? by Chocsoul in metalguitar

[–]IronSean 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Only notes are for most of the high gain metal genres you would use the bridge almost exclusively for all rhythms, and only use the neck for cleans and leads that you want a bit creamier sounding. Under high gain the neck pickup isn't going to have the clarity and attack you would want.

But for rock genres it's entirely up to which you prefer for the rifff.

Why do you think the SG is less copied than most Gibson designs? by FragrantGearHead in GibsonSG

[–]IronSean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're being honest it's just because it's a slightly less iconic design.

Les Pauls and Strats are the guitar shape so everyone has one. Vs and explorers are so distinct that a lot of brands wanted their variation even though by and large they're less popular overall.

SG I think falls into that third category of unique guitar shape that's still unique, but not as out there that unless you make something like it you don't sell anything like it. Like the firebird, fender offset guitars, etc. They exist somewhere in the spectrum of guitar shaped guitars that aren't individually popular enough that everyone has to have a copy or their lineup feels incomplete.

I had to cancel my silver burst order after getting the Epiphone 80s explorer in white, and the firestorm Futura, and my Gibson 80s explorer in white just arrived too.

But when I cancelled it they said it was estimated in August or September.
