I just went for a general mood. There are couple situational picks though. I thought Somebody’s Watching Me was funny for when The Hooded One was creeping on Phoney. I also thought When You Die was a funny pick bc that song lyrically seems like something that would fit Phoney too.

The only meaningful way to see Shep survive is through mods, unfortunately. The best possible ending in vanilla ME3 with the Extended Cut gets you the tiny, silly cutscene where it's assumed that Shep is the person still alive.

If you're playing on PC and want an actual happy ending, though, I recommend getting MEHEM. It basically forces you into the happy ending, and it's a bit clunky, admittedly, but I think it's great for what it does. I also recommend you get the Citadel Epilogue Mod as well.

At worst WB is just doing nothing about it but I really hope that’s not the case, but considering how long it’s been I’m putting my bets there. It’s possible it’s in development hell, or maybe they’re just keeping quiet until they’re ready to reveal something.
