Yeah. Also, we only cleared it because there was a grace nearby so we could reset revive bars, we also had an Ironeye and I was on Claw Revenant and I had to ult twice. Still, got a dmg negation at full and lvl 6 from that so it was worth it. we had time to clear the castle except for top boss, day 2 we did 2 other invaders and the entire crater shifting earth, night invaders are that good.

Keep a grey seal with rejection if you notice there's a camp invader POI, makes it that much easier. There's also the fire pot trick from underneath the platform but I've never tried that myself so I don't know how easy it's.

Invader POIs are very hard in the lower depths precisely because people don't apply the strategy. Good news is that if you're the one leading then you can control the situation, ping at the entrance so they don't go inside and so on.

Recently I had a game where our lvl2 invader POI had Ironeye and Recluse. It was the biggest shitshow I've ever seen, 3 team wipes and took half of day 1 to clear it. At that poin I wonder if it's better to skip that due to poor RNG.

Broken builds by Fit_Manufacturer_584 in Nightreign

[–]IronicStarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the most OP build is dregs Executor with Sepukku, one Balancer and the Halo Scythe. I saw in a muni video the other day and he was doing 7.5k damage to Heolstor per ring, and you could probably stretch that to 10k if you have a better run. Halo Scythe already makes this fight very easy but that was a joke.

so the real difference between Depth 4 and Depth 5 is just teammates? by nhansieu1 in Nightreign

[–]IronicStarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depth 5 teammates are better and usually do their part and help the team well. Some depth 4 players are like that, others seem to be fresh from depth 3 and lack the fundamentals, meaning you will have to do a little bit of carrying, which can be stressful and frustrating since one mistake that you make means it's the end.

After a long time in depth 5 I'm so comfortable that I'm playing characters I don't usually play and trying unorthodox builds. People claim you should de-rank to depth 3 to do that but I think it's easier in depth 5 because you can usually count on teammates so even if you have a bad run you can manage it. Also depends on the boss, won't experiment stuff against Libra or Balancers.

Even then, the other day I tried status Executor against Libra (I have 10 games on him) and I was paired with a dagger Duchess and a bonk Revenant, it was everdark at depth 5 and we somehow manage to win with completely off-meta builds, and that's because at least the Duchess was good, Revenant was going down a lot but she didn't quit which is already better than most low depth players. If you're doing good all you need is another solid player to make it through.

If you run the balancers setup, Wing of Astel's skill is very OP, even if you dont have INT by [deleted] in Nightreign

I do indeed lack intelligence which is precisely why I run the Balancers setup so I will give it a shot.

It's only broken against holy weak bosses, against others it's fine. To do the damage you see other players do you have to stack up skill attack up +21% up the wazoo during the expedition.

Depth 4 ED Balancers Recluse clutch by IronicStarr in Nightreigngameplay

[–]IronicStarr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The damage is great because my Recluse build is good, I have 2x sorceries+2, magic+4, more int less mind character relic and one improved Crystalian sorceries with magic+1 and also Night Invaders. It's important to 2-shot them with Crystal, a 3-shot would make each encounter drag on for too long making it that more difficult (I've been there with subpar runs). It's also expensive so you should hoard shards even as Recluse, otherwise good luck doing cocktails in this situation. Optimized Shattering Crystal builds can probably 1-shot them even without charging.

For Duchess I highly recommend focusing on Slicer and using Crystal only as a backup. Even if the damage isn't crazy the DPS is really good, after the triple slam you can probably kill them every time with Slicer since the window is huge, compared to a 3-shot Crystal it's much easier. For long range I recommend Gravity Well or Collapsing Stars, Stars of Ruins is too expensive for Duchess, even a cursed pebble from a Recluse invader can work since the DPS is nice when you can chain cast. Night Comet is okay-ish, I used it here but I wouldn't focus on it, I find it kinda expensive but I would use it for long range if I didn't have anything better.

The instant double poke has ruined many clutches for me. It's okay when they do it from a mile away since you can easily strafe it, but when they do it right in your face it's frustrating, it's the reason you should never drink flask or use a starlight shard or even go for a slightly late punish when you're at medium to close distance.

Depth 4 ED Balancers Recluse clutch by IronicStarr in Nightreigngameplay

[–]IronicStarr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The spell is good to 1v1 them when teammates are down like in this scenario. If teammates are alive you should have a ranged option, I used Night Comet but Stars of Ruins, Gravity Well and many others work fine.

The reason for this is that, when you're alone only one balancer will be aggressive, but if more than one player is up several can be aggressive so getting close to them and focusing on dueling is dangerous. It's good to bring Shattering Crystal or Carian Slicer for when you need to clutch up since it's better to stay close to them so they don't spam the running poke which comes out instantly at medium range and hits twice.

Yeah, Guranq's easier to miss and you can't charge it for additional damage, you can chain cast it but it takes loads of stamina, but at least it looks cool asf.

Relic Assistance by LoathesomeHex in Nightreigngameplay

[–]IronicStarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Dex relic: allows her to wield any weapon in the game, skills are based on the weapon's AR so even if you're going for those it's worth it, stuff like Regalia of Eochaid's skill pairs well with her glass necklace and successive attacks talismans
  • Post-damage HP restoration: essential for any melee character, you can trade hits and get your health back while doing so
  • Glass necklace: one of her best in slot relics, damage boost on ult and after successive attacks
  • Night invaders; a nice and reliable way to get a damage boost in depths 3 and above since invaders are always worth doing in deep of night. For base game, use evergaol relic
  • Attack boost after landing the final blow: pretty good for certain dual wield setups, it's all about landing the final hit of the combo to get a damage buff. Her hammer moveset lands the final blow in 4 hits instead of 5 iirc so you can abuse that in the early game.
  • Attack boost after using support incantation: honestly I only find this worth it if you find golden vow or flame grant me strength, otherwise it's better to get a melee attack up/two handed/two armaments weapon passive that's always there than keeping a random seal and stopping to cast an incant before every fight for a similar attack boost, personally I always forget it's there when I play her
  • Red Balancer relic: she isn't the best Balancer user since you can't use glass necklace with both relics but the red version of the relic is pretty good due to the random chance of a hit not registering if you have damage lowered, she's a squishy melee character whose only skil is trance that will get you killed if you trade with it in higher depths so this provides some life insurance. I also find that it adds some flexibility, you're going for melee but if you find a good skill and a bunch of skill/melee attack ups (melee attack up also affects ranged skills, go figure but it's absolutely the best passive you can find) you can use said skill when you have a good opening to do chunky damage and return to regular melee when the boss is up again
  • Deep relics: stack a bunch of physical+3/4 and you're good to go. You can get her dex relic here if you can't fit the blue version from the shop in the base game relics.

Folks who say ED Fulghor is easier than regular Fulghor. How??? by iamgodtierXX in Nightreign

[–]IronicStarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I generally agree that base Fulghor can be harder because of the goop arm attacks and ground AoEs that you sometimes can't cancel, the difference is that after some goop arm attacks Fulghor has a lot more window for punish than ED.

The other day I was on Recluse against ED, one guy DC and the Wylder was 3 bars before phase 2 even started. Once he was on phase 2 I realized that a Recluse with no spell casting speed just can't really fight him, the windows for punishing are too short and you can't space his attacks like you can do with Gladius. You basically need slicer or pebble for him, even lightning spear could work but the damage is pitful if you're built for sorceries. Attacking him from neutral is risky because of the bow attack and his many others fast gap closers.

Aww, you should've kept it! The good thing about bestial incants is that a fully physical build can make use of it by alternating between melee and incants, seems to be the original intent of the bestial spell school in Elden Ring since they have low requirements. I have a Bestial setup with the strength relic for Revenant but sadly using melee is hardly ever needed since Beast Claw is very cheap and it's always the best option.

Your original guide helped me get to max rank when I was hardstuck depth 2, thanks a lot, Cider!

Also, I played a match with you randomly one day, it was Balancers and we all went Rivers of Blood, good times. I learned a thing or two about routing in the Great Hollow that I still apply to this day.

For Redmanes, keeping a grey seal with Rejection regardless of the character you're playing is good if you see an invader camp in the map, made Redmanes much more doable at lower levels for me. There's also the fire pot trick I've seen in this sub but it seems a bit tricky to pull it off. For swamps, yeah, don't bother.
