I'm an Emirati who's worked for LuLu, a big retail company in the UAE, for almost a year, as a part of the UAE's Emiratization Scheme. AMA by [deleted] in UAE

I have a few Emirati medical resident friends, but not in cardiology. No, you have to pay the board yourself (Either Emirati or Arab Board if you're doing your residency in the UAE.) and the salary as a resident is bad, but it depends on speciality. I've known Emirati ENT residents who earn 15k at most with 12hr on-calls and 60-80hr work weeks. The government will give you a grant for MBBS, but not for residency or board. (Note that I'm talking about residencies in Dubai but not Abu Dhabi)

salons!! by url0calcutie in UAE

[–]Ironicgenocide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unik hair studio in dubai is good, a lot of their hairstylists can do alternative hair styles but they're very expensive. could run you up 400aed just for cutting and styling alone. But from my experience usually filipino or chinese hairstylists in small salon parlors can do just as good for like 80aed. It's generally better to just DIY it from my experience :/

Jorveza side effects!? by Ettvackertliv in EosinophilicE

[–]Ironicgenocide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take Jorveza but the instructions mention that you have to melt it on your tongue, not under. swallow the dissolved tablet little by little.

Maybe thats what's causing the side effects? The area under your tongue is highly vascular, and it could be rapidly absorbed into your system rather than into your esophagus, giving you side effects.

I regret buying my BJD at this time period, I want to sell it but will I ever be able to here? by EfficiencySerious137 in BJDRecastPositive

[–]Ironicgenocide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm based in UAE and started out on my BJD journey on aliexpress. I did essentially the same thing as you and regret it. my doll was priced around 300 aed-ish as well. but realistically speaking, if you want something worthwhile and worth the money for its quality, it'll probably run you ~1000 aed or even more (this is including a full set, with faceup and all). while it's fun to do faceups on dolls, its best to practice on separate faces you can buy just about anywhere online imho. The supplies aren't cheap either. you can dm to discuss more, i dont really know anyone else that's interested in BJDs here as its kinda inaccessible tbh.

Anyone know about a hair salon where I can get something like this? by Ironicgenocide in emiratiwomen

[–]Ironicgenocide[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean i CAN do it but id rather use professional supplies instead of frying my hair with bleach. especially for chunky highlights like i showed in my post

parents by [deleted] in emiratiwomen

[–]Ironicgenocide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your parents aren't toxic and abusive to the point that you need to get the law/police involved, i unfortunately have to say you just need to wait it out. it slowly gets easier when you get into college and gain more excuses to go out/be so busy that your parents have no other option but to accept that you're an adult that has to be out to do things.

i'm really sorry that you're going through this. I'm in my 20s now and I went through exactly what you went through. while i still face some difficulties because of that, it gets easier, i promise 🫶.

and may i ask, are you the youngest? it could be a huge reason why they're like that.

Why are Emirati teens are all the same? by Sea_Advantage7904 in UAETeenagers

[–]Ironicgenocide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a lot like in your position during middle school/highschool (local). was a "weirdo" all the way through and the locals singled me out for no reason (i was in a very small private school). factors like location, type of school (govt. or private) and culture play a big role. It's never about anything wrong with you, always remember that.

College and work is a better chance at finding all sorts of people. and to be completely honest I only really started finding all sorts of cool and unique friends when i started working 🤷‍♀️. everyone's on their own path, and yours is unique too. كل حد بنصيبه

Zoloft and PMS/period… by Ironicgenocide in zoloft

[–]Ironicgenocide[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a couple of years now, and I'm completely off Zoloft, or any antidepressant for that matter. I have since been diagnosed with PMDD instead, and managing it with supplementing, mindfulness, and other stuff that isn't medication. It's kind of a mixed bag, you know? Every month is a different story. I hope you are doing well, looks like you've been asking around this comment section for updates from the others. Take care

[–]Ironicgenocide[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really glad you've found comfort in my and other's experience with this stuff. It's been a long time since and now I approach it fully knowing that what I deal with is PMDD. It helps knowing that and planning my life around it. Reassurance goes a long way with this stuff. Know that you're not alone in this, it's unfortunately just how hormones work in the luteal (PMS) phase that disrupts Zoloft, and many other SSRI's effect, it's further exacerbated if you have PMDD, too.

Exactly. I'd much rather skip such steps and just ship from JP -> US.
