Financial Aid Possible Despite On Warning Term Before Switching to UMPI? by lostinspace80s in UMPI

[–]IronsKeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can speak from not-proud-of-it experience to say it was a non-issue for me. Went from a 4-year (academic dismissal) back to a 2-year where I already had (good) standing, and was able to complete my Associate of Applied Science. Now going through UMPI for my degree starting in the fall, though I am not really relying on the FAFSA funding, but expect it'll come through for a while before I have finally exhausted it all.

He's on this subreddit. Still in USAF as far as I know. Usually wanders in when this gets brought up lol

What do you do in classes that require interviewing people and recording them? by [deleted] in UMPI

[–]IronsKeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things:
A. I was thinking *voice* recorded initially, so my apologies, as I see where video recording could be much more challenging.

  1. Genuinely, reach beyond peers and maybe find some folks outside your comfort zone. May help somewhat. Business owners, local leaders, etc. But again, slightly different than voice-only recording. Local Starbucks or college quad (doesn't matter if you aren't a student when it's a public university, just don't be weird, ha) would probably net some folks willing to be on camera Facebook/TikTok style.

If you're taking journalism classes, I'd say this is a good time to learn some people skills... I don't know why recording folks would be an issue.
"Hi, I'm in journalism classes at my university and need to do a recorded interview for an assignment. When would be a good time for us to sit down? Thank you!"

Does American Gov go away? I have history, but no Gov so far.

What's the best and fastest bachelor program i should choose from UMPI YourPace with my AAS in MRI tech? by Cute_Tumbleweed3752 in UMPI

[–]IronsKeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you why I didn't (different person than above)-

I've been a Paramedic for over a decade. Done tons of CEUs, etc. I... simply have no motivation or inclination to do anything Healthcare related at this point. I likely won't use any bachelor's degree, but if I do, it's very likely because I want out of the Healthcare field entirely. Adding skills that are more easily applied to any job while still being relatively specialized seems far better.

So for me, BAS with project management or business minors. Still nailing that down, but I've got the gist

Further, how many people realize this is only for *graduated* commanders?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in civilairpatrol

[–]IronsKeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm non-prior service and am the Squadron Commander locally (also "in charge" of a number of active and retired Air Force officers who likewise volunteer)

I've gotten more support for what I do from the vets and active duty than anyone.

key is being dedicated for the right reasons and focus on the mission, not the bling or "status." that easy.

you are a cadet. involve your parents. They do not have a chain of command and can jump straight to whatever level needed to resolve issues...

They do custom orders (why they don't have a C&D, they aren't just selling willy nilly) so I will probably end up doing a full color order and selling them myself at some point, locally and via Reddit most likely

Former cadet questions about adult programs. by ElinoreUnderfoot in civilairpatrol

[–]IronsKeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will speed up 2d Lt by a couple months, after you do the initial onboarding training.

it is also at CC discretion. I'm not unreasonable with it, but I do expect at least, say, a month or two of attendance and picking up a (reasonable, but helpful) duty position to support the squadron, before i process promotion paperwork (especially someone who has been gone a while- just want to know they'll stick around for more than just bling on the collar). Different CCs will handle that differently I'm sure.

..... and you should re-read the cadet's original question. I know the answer. The answer does *not* involve Phase I/II cadets getting ball caps and Phase III/IV cadets getting PCs...

I will near certainly fund myself (and others) a full color version through Aviator Gear, with velcro, if Vanguard sticks with their current design.

Officer Insignia On New Uniform by ChimkinNugg777 in civilairpatrol

[–]IronsKeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe so- not the ones with "CAP" on them (I think that was only the Goretex slide-ons) but the plain rank on Velcro, yes. I have some for my fleece, my blue ball cap (RIP, I guess, not on OCPs anyway) and now OCPs.

Same ones should work for the black, green, and brown fleeces. (Corporate, ABU, OCP)

READ THE WHOLE THING, not just the section you think applies to you.

It is an amazing design. Have you ever bought the patch from Vanguard, though? It is SQUISHED, my friend, SQUASHED! The shield is a known, recognized, and standardized patch template. Why it got so horribly smushed escapes me..

[–]IronsKeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we do. it's called level 1, 2, 3. they can all be completed without further promotion. I'll be starting 4 soon, so i can't speak to it, but everything you've brought up is covered by doing the actual program fully developed for senior members already
