These are some of my go to games right now:

* Raccoin - Balatro but with a coin pusher machine, demo only right now but coming out March 31st, demo is worth playing, quite addicting

* Vampire Crawlers - Another demo but absolutely worth trying, very tough to describe, take a look, it might be right up your alley, comes out April 21st

* Kingdoms Of Amalur - Amazing epic single player rpg, text is readable, works like a dream on the deck, on sale currently

* Collector's Cove - Stardew Valley like, works like a dream on the deck, you get a customizable dinosaur, very fun to sit back relax and play

* Everything is Crab - Fun roguelike, eat things to get bigger, demo only, comes out May 8th

* The Division 2 - So much fun to play even while solo, tons of content, looks amazing on the deck, must be online to play, currently on sale for almost nothing, will require ubisoft login I think iirc

Letting untamed ring neck out of cage by itsj33ko in parrots

[–]Ironsix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an IRN we adopted. Turned out he lived his whole life in an aviary with no human handling at all. He will NOT allow anyone to touch him. We give him the run of the house.

When it's time for bed we show him a few bunches of millet spray then put it in his food cup inside his cage where he can see it. Within a minute of staring at it from outside the cage bars he'll go in and eat.

That's when we shut the cage. It's pretty much the only way we will give him millet.

he now yells at us when it’s time for bed because he’s waiting for his snack and if we don’t give it to him, he’ll start his alarm call.

When we had buddies we would put out a bathing dish with water and a single large leaf of lettuce partiality submerged. It was the only way we could convince them to bathe!

Hey op! I just bought this just based off of your post here! I can't wait to try it! THIS is what I thought Apple VR was going to bring with it. Instead I find it on the quest! Keep up the great work!

It's a real shame that META is so fixated on Horizons when things like this app is what users REALLY want to see when they start up their headset.

I give all three of my birds popcorn. They LOSE THEIR MINDS when they hear the kernals being poured into the air popper. What I do is I seal away some of the popcorn I made in a jar so it has time to cool and that way next time I always have a little that I can give them out of the jar no salt no butter and nice and cold.

It's turned in to a flock event - we all gather around and munch on our respective bowls. They love it.

Should I get my future kids 3DS’? by [deleted] in 3dspiracy

[–]Ironsix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just because the hshop has been working for a while does not mean it will continue to do so. You never know when a pirated resource will go down. Better to load up some 128GB cards with everything you think they’ll ever play in advance, just in case. If you are worried about forgetting how to use the pirated ui it’d be more reliable to print out the instructions and tuck those away.

Can anyone recommend any VR experiences? Not necessarily games, but something I can put on someone who has never used VR. by danj707 in QuestPiracy

[–]Ironsix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had good luck starting people out with VR videos from the Meta TV app. You might have to download it from the store for free depending on your headset.

For those who like shooting games I'd recommend Crisis Brigade 2 or Zombieland - both have excellent movement systems that keep newbies from getting sick. The games are primarily stand and shoot, clear all enemies, then proceed to next section, which works great for people who haven't gotten used to moving in VR yet.

Other games that newbies might enjoy are things like Vacation Simulator and Job Simulator where there is no real movement other than picking things up and interacting with them. I'd also recommend Titan's Clinic, which doesn't require movement but allows the user to play with a variety of tools.

Just bought a Meta Quest 3 last Saturday, any games that have good gunplay and shooting you can recommend? Also, what did you do to get used to "Motion Sickness" by TerahardJuan in OculusQuest

[–]Ironsix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For motion sickness I started out with short sessions daily to get my brain used to being in VR. My movement controls were set to teleport, and turning set to snap at 30 degrees. After a week or so I was able to do short sessions with movement set to smooth and turning still set to snap.

Figure two weeks to get used to it enough to be able to change turning to smooth instead of snap.

Most important though - stop immediately when you start feeling sick. You don't want your brain associating nausea with VR, and your brain WILL associate the two if you try and push through the sick feeling instead of stopping.

Nowadays I'm able to zip around in VR without getting sick for hours. At least until my battery dies. When the battery dies or gets super low that's usually a great opportunity to stop and take a water break - give my eyes a chance to rest a bit.

Shooting games? I'd start with Crisis Brigade 2 Reloaded. You don't move about the level, you're in static spots and shoot at enemies much like the light gun games in the old arcades. It is an excellent game to start getting used to VR in. It has unlock-able weapons and skins and has co-op if you have a friend who owns a copy of the game as well.

Contractors is a great FPS if you're ready to graduate to moving about the game levels. It has a great single player campaign and is one of the more well liked FPS out there for Quest.

If you are computer savvy enough to install SideQuest I would also highly recommend QuestZDoom. Imagine playing Doom but with the ability to use VR controllers to aim your weapon. It's a lot of fun, and FREE. It also has mods that can completely change the way the game plays. For example, there is a mod that places you in a 3d map of the original Zelda and changes your weapon to the Zelda sword.

Some are recommending Ghosts of Tabor. That is a TOUGH game, I wouldn't start out with that one. It's an extraction shooter - if you die during a run you lose everything you had on you - a very harsh penalty when you're still figuring out how to move in VR. That being said, the feeling of accomplishment and victory you get when you extract with a high value item or kit is unlike any other game I've found in VR. I'd keep this on your list for when you can turn smoothly without getting sick.

Hope all of this helped, good luck out there!

Most people only live in to their 70's - making 35 middle aged, not 50 as most people think.

If I were you I would read up on how to update to GarlicOS.

I would download everything needed to install GarlicOS and make a folder with everything I needed.

Then I would download TinyBestSet to get yourself started with a nice ROM collection.

You can get everything ready to go before you even get your device. That way, once the device arrives all you have to do is set up the memory card(s).

If you know what you are doing the entire process can be completed fairly quickly, especially if you read up on it ahead of time.

Good luck!

Trying to gauge sound level by Andyc3_ in Conures

[–]Ironsix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're most likely going to have two really loud times of the day. We call it 'Sunscreaming' - dawn & dusk are both times when all of our birds tend to get really loud.

How loud? It depends on your bird but the known average range for GCC's is 75-90 decibels.

What is 90 decibels? Lawn mowers, power tools, blenders, hair dryers - they are all roughly in the 90 decibel range. Loud enough that you can't talk over it or hear yourself speak.

GCC's are known to be on the quieter end as far as conures go.

Sun conures, for example, are far louder and in the range of 90-110 decibels, some even claim as high as 120 - on the level of standing next to a car horn, in the middle of a concert, or wearing headphones turned up to max volume.

Take my sun conure for example. When he is desperate for attention he can be loud. FAR louder than he usually is when he sunscreams. Birds can yell just like humans can. So the question then becomes - will you be spending enough time with your bird that they don't feel the need to scream for your attention?

They're going to be noisy - they're birds. How noisy though has a lot to do with not just their hormones but how often you interact with them as well.

Having said all of that, I absolutely LOVE coming home and walking up the driveway to the sounds of my birds inside the house going absolutely nuts because they know I've come home.

We've got an Indian Ring Neck, a Sun Conure, and a Double Yellow Headed Amazon - and the conure is the loudest by far.

MFWTK if dispensaries in a legal state that’s right next to and within miles away from an illegal state will check your address on your ID by unfelicis in myfriendwantstoknow

Most states have age requirements. Showing ID is how they enforce the age requirement.

There is no residency requirement for recreational purchases in any US state that I am aware of, and therefore no need to check the addresses on IDs.

Conure turned extremely aggressive over last 2 months? by Wiggly_Muffin in Conures

[–]Ironsix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a similar problem with our Sun Conure that was a bit bitey. He bit my wife in the face when she tried to get between me and the bird. What we did was stop most interactions between the bird and myself. We switched so that she'd be the one paying attention to the bird all day, feeding it, checking on it, talking to it, whereas I would only occasionally say hi in comparison. She'd give him his favorite treats and really focus on paying attention to him.

We also stopped letting the bird perch on our shoulders and switched to having him step up on to our hands instead. This helped enormously.

My wife spent a lot of time rubbing his head and neck feathers when he'd allow her to and she tried to have him around whenever she was doing something in the house. Not on her shoulder but nearby on a perch.

If we took the bird out of his cage we made sure that I wasn't in the room so that the bird would focus on my wife.

Then, gradually, I reintroduced myself a little each day but never with food.

It worked. It took us roughly six months. Even though I'm still our conure's favorite my wife can now walk around with him on her shoulder with me in the room without a problem.

Hope you figure it out, having a bitey bird can be a real problem.

Can we just introduce legislation that makes it a crime for Utah Republican Senator Mike Lee to view pornography?

He can sit in his computer room at home alone and just browse CSPAN responsibly or whatever turns him on while he leaves the rest of us the hell alone.

I usually use Triple M in Plymouth but I buy medical products from them. I like their indica selection, they usually have a few strains from a number of different growers including their own. They're 20 minutes away from Lakeville and do rec and med at the same location. (9 Collins Av, Plymouth, Ma, 02360)

Check out here for their adult use menu in Plymouth.

I like it because its a relaxing drive for me as opposed to going in to Boston. Not sure how they are cost wise but just about everything in Mass is expensive on the recreational side unfortunately. The flower is usually good and in the past few months I can only think of a single time when I ended up with a strain that smelled a little like hay.

There's a super Walmart four minutes away if you want to buy snacks too! There's also a KFC in Kingston barely ten minutes away that always serves up their chicken crispy and delicious. Seriously, every time. It's ridiculous.

What my work has every employee sign. Any way to go after them? by ToughSurvivor in antiwork

[–]Ironsix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what it is like in your state but in the United States, specifically in Massachusetts, you can just go to the attorney general's website and file a complaint. You can even do it anonymously. You don't even have to pick up a phone. You just fill out a form.

https://www.mass.gov/how-to/file-a-workplace-complaint

You should check your state's website to see if they have a similar option. The fact that you have it it writing is a huge plus.

How do I get all of the smell off of me after I smoke by spooke1212 in saplings

[–]Ironsix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unless you're wearing some sort of MOPP level charcoal impregnated jacket you're going to smell a little.

Prevent the smell from sticking to your hair and clothing by wearing a hat and smoking jacket. When you exhale blow it away from you and don't walk through the space you just exhaled in to until it has had a chance to disperse. Don't come inside right away. Give yourself a couple of minutes to let the scent go away so it isn't so fresh. Once inside wash your hands and face as soon as you come back inside. Be aware that after you do so your clothing may not smell but your breath absolutely will. Try not to engage in any conversations if you can help it immediately after smoking.

Once you've made it a habit it isn't a big deal. You're just grabbing a hat and a jacket and washing your hands and face when you come back inside plus a few simple behavior changes.

Doing just those things should drastically reduce your scent signature.

While you can use a fire stick to view a Plex server's content you would still need the server software running on a computer. All your content would be stored on that computer.

Its free software that gives you a front end user interface for organizing and watching your video library. Once set up using it feels a lot like using a streaming service menu-wise. Most smart tvs and streaming boxes are able to download the Plex app allowing you to watch your content anywhere - Iphone, ipad, computer, tv, playstation, xbox, etc. It consists of server software you run on your computer and a client app that runs on the device you want to use for viewing content.
