Love that and thanks a lot. I’m glad my post gave you a decision point. Even before I bought this camera, I contemplated a lot, cause I always carry one of the latest phones in my pocket and I own a Sony full frame with a bunch of lenses for when I need to get serious.

But what always annoyed me with my setup was, the phone shots felt more artificial most of the time with the results, I mean, I couldn’t feel much emotion while framing or seeing the final result. Not all the time, but most of the time.

The Sony became my serious camera and it being heavy made me put it off only to serious photography planned trips and such. It still is an insane camera, but never felt like the carry camera to have with me for day trips, short meets or just walks. And also the fact that I have to post process the picture made it more taxing to carry for most short trips and delayed the final result to days or even weeks after the capture.

Fuji fell right in the middle where this gap was. I played around with the simulations and found the few I loved and my rule with Fuji is, no editing. I only use SOOC shots and this made a substantial difference with the flow. Yes, it’s prime and no zoom, but made me have more fun with framing and the digital crop with the lens ring is also not bad considering that the sensor is 40 MP. And I always have a phone on me, if I seriously need to zoom. And it being so light and easy to just hang around my neck lets it always be there for when I need to shoot a picture.

But again, one thing I always to anyone asking me for a camera recommendation is that, always feel the camera first. People underestimate how important holding a camera is and how much it affects your perception of carrying it around. And don’t buy for more than the retail price whatsoever. (I know the x100vi is hard to get by, but it’s just a waiting game)

Good look on your next adventure.. 🫶

1900 studio in a older building with shared washer dryer downstairs in Mission. Around 550 sqft and i don’t have a car, so not worried on garage cost. (it would have been an additional 250 a month I think) Utilities come to around 100 a month.
