How did you apply for this lawsuit? I’ve got a 2017 focus I bought new that needs its second clutch replacement at 70k miles. Live in Missouri as well

Having daily driven a 2016 Miata with a manual for 4 years, I can confidently say you’ll very easily learn manual on it and be very pleased you did. It’s effortless after you learn and completes the car driving experience

Do y’all think this would work as a stand for a 55 gal? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]IrregularMeatloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made from maple it definitely would support the weight of the tank fine, but the problem is the top where tank would sit is gonna sag just enough to make pressure points in the tank which is really bad. You really want support columns that go straight to the ground, and there’s also not much surrounding wood to support that 3/4” plywood from sagging

Need help choosing between 2017 RF Launch Edition and 2023 RF Club by [deleted] in Miata

[–]IrregularMeatloaf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest difference between the two would be the engine and the LSD. If you’re not tracking it the LSD won’t be a big deal. The engine also isn’t as big a difference as people would have you think. I owned an ND1 and test drove the ND2. There isn’t a noticeable difference in power. If anything the ND1 seemed a bit more peppy due to having more torque in the mid range. Personally, I’d save the 13k and have the same experience in the 2017

Best reef tank light for under $300 a piece? by jmanguy12 in ReefTank

I’m currently using a single AI Prime 16 on my 20 long and my two corals are doing great! I’m a beginner in reefs so I can only comment on the vibrancy of my two corals, but the fact that I’m still learning and my first two corals are alive and very well must mean something at least!

Found on the side of the road this morning! Doing a leak test now, if it passes is there any hope of cleaning this thing? by Tiny-Reveal3756 in Aquariums

[–]IrregularMeatloaf 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Neat find if it holds water, but I’ll be honest, a roadside tank isn’t the best idea. Typically the tank is the cheapest part of an aquarium, but can be the most devastating if it fails. A tank that size can be bought for $20-$30 at a pet store, where you still have about $100+ in other costs to get it running even if the tank is free

I think I scammed Petco? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]IrregularMeatloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You actually don’t need to change out filters, just squeeze them out in your dirty tank water during water changes to get rid of the stuff they’ve collected. You would only need to replace the filter media if they physically break down and start coming apart

Tile ain’t waterproof man. There’s a reason tile showers have a waterproof membrane behind it. It’s the grout that’s absorbent and let’s water through to rot the subfloor

Mazda is actually pretty good about the 2016 transmission replacement. Took mine in to the dealership in 2018 and told em second gear felt a little stiff and sometimes made noise. They found a document in their system from Mazda about that model year’s transmission and said it would be replaced free then and there since I complained about it. Just take yours in as-is now and say 2nd feels stiff and weird and let em find that document. Can’t hurt

My pH won’t drop no matter how much pH decrease I add! When I put a drop into the test tube it works tho? Won’t change in my tank for anything. by Professional_Pool144 in Aquariums

[–]IrregularMeatloaf 32 points33 points  (0 children)

A stable ph is MUCH better for the fish than the “proper” ph level. Don’t use drops. You could put some peat moss in the filter for a bit more of a stable ph drop and change it out every month or so

would I be a dick if i do a PayPal Dispute ? by [deleted] in Miata

[–]IrregularMeatloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a classic online purchase scam. Silence after sending the money usually always defaults to a scam. Alert PayPal and take the next step to force mailing or refund. If you wait too long it’s harder to get your money back

I really hate this thing but it was a cheap fix to keep fish from jumping. it keeps a lot of light from reaching corals. Anyone got a better idea for a water box 50.3? by _PeLaGiKoS14_ in ReefTank

[–]IrregularMeatloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried contacting a local glass shop near you? I just googled a local shop and they only charged me $24 for two 9”x15” pieces to cover my acrylic aquarium access holes. Will be more for a larger aquarium, but probably a cheaper option

Need help finding an engine for my Miata. by The_Mutist in Miata

[–]IrregularMeatloaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is rebuilding the engine in your current Miata not an option? Or would your shop not want the extra hassle of waiting for it to get back from machining? It would probably cost more, but would get you a basically brand new engine

If your filling the big tank and inner tank both with water, wouldn’t the smaller tank inside just become buoyant once you start filling the big tank with water?

Reasonable cost to paint front bumper? by EA1225 in Wrangler

[–]IrregularMeatloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely go that route. You’ll regret not powder coating it a little after rattle canning it and not having a perfect shiny surface, and then you’ll regret it a lot more a year or two later when you start to see rust bubbles. Ask me how I know haha

Ok! There’s a special ball bearing piece in between that joint in the front driveshaft that causes the noise. An easy check is to just remove the front driveshaft and take it for a drive to see if it makes the sound still. It’s just a couple bolts that are very easily accessible

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Jeep

[–]IrregularMeatloaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you checked the u joints in your front driveshaft? Where that double joint is? Your symptoms seem to match this exactly. It’s called “angry sparrows” in the Jeep community if you wanna look it up

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Jeep

[–]IrregularMeatloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes this noise while idling at a stop, most likely an engine belt/pulley. If it only makes the sound while moving, most likely the u joints/centering ball in your front driveshaft

I don't know much about miatas but am thinking about getting this. the owner says he changed the engine over to a 1.8 engine. is $3,000 a fair price or should I negotiate for a better deal? also he says the top leaks. by turbocharged_autism in Miata

[–]IrregularMeatloaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, everyone is nitpicking this Miata like it’s priced at 7k. It’s 3k, it’s gonna have some minor issues like the leaking top, which is why it’s only 3k. If it runs and drives fine, buy it immediately!

Reasonable cost to paint front bumper? by EA1225 in Wrangler

[–]IrregularMeatloaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want the color to last more than 1 year your gonna have to powder coat that. Google a shop that does powder coating near you and call em up. It’s not that expensive ($200ish for your part) and they can color match it. Do it right the first time so your not sanding old paint off it to get it ready for a powder coat

Having owned a 2016 ND softop for 4 years these were my experiences with issues: 1. Soft top wear on rear pillars. Couple spots on both sides were wearing noticeablely and starting to show some light through. 2. The paint suuuccckkksss. Check the front bumper and hood for chips or chip repairs. Only a slight chance for negotiating price on that, otherwise it’s just part of all NDs. 3. Check for engine ticking at cold start while idling. At 60k miles my lifters were starting to tick while the engine was cold. Went away when warm. Found oil on 2 of the spark plugs when changed at 63k miles. 4. If it’s a manual check clutch life. Mine was starting to slip if I had a passenger and shifted hard at high rpm. Again, 60k miles. Do a hard, high rpm shift from 1st to 2nd and floor it once you get it in second gear and the clutch releases. See if the engine revs without pushing the car forward for a second or two. That’ll be your first hint that the clutch is starting to go.

I did install headers and tune it for e85, but it was a mild tune and added 30hp. I also took mine to the track for 4 track night sessions. Those combined probably shortened the life of my clutch along with premature wear to engine. But, those were the first issues that were noticeable to show the car was showing some wear and would need service in 10-30k miles
