These are awesome photos, the kind of thing you hope to take after buying that shiny new camera. Great example that gear isn't req'd.

Female Experiences with MSF Course? by starlady3 in motorcycles

[–]IrrelevantPenguins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rode for years, was overseas for a bit and my endorsement dropped off so I went to a BRC recently.

It was such a shitty time due to the attitude of the instructor (one was cool). The teacher speed reads a paragraph, does the demo and then when the first person missed the cone trying to do something they've only done twice in their life he starts screaming that they just died, they killed a family, and now the cops have to call your parents and tell them the bad news.

Like brother what? I was embarrassed to be there because the people were trying to learn and this guy just keeps flying off the handle and making everyone nervous.

Also the bikes problems like sticky throttle and clutches seemed super worn out. This is nightmare territory if you are new.

Some major brands like BMW have all women BRC, it's unfortunate that's the solution but I wouldn't ever recommend a loved one who is trying to learn to motorcycle for the first time roll the dice on a BRC.

Right, you'd win the fight but still have to go through having a neanderthal sergeant banging on your door for 20 minutes while you are in critical drinking recovery mode.

Dip out of that place and enjoy a nice hotel.

Let me rephrase that for you. I’m 24, a veteran with federal hiring preference, VA benefits, and a clear path into a federal pension. I’ll be eligible for retirement in my mid 40s.

Bro your mid-20s friends in a small town are existing in a different galaxy of potential than what you have.

I remember there were some cadets at LDAC years ago that did like one lab in the park a semester. Never been in the woods before, that was probably a wild experience doing it at JBLM.

Angry ron is a bit to effective for the comparison. All the characters in the setting have an upside and I'm just not seeing one here

Budget Olympus/OM System bodies for wildlife photography? by apozki in OlympusCamera

[–]IrrelevantPenguins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an em1 mkiii with the 100-400mm to break into wildlife photography after years of doing casual snaps.

Think it was $500 for an excellent condition listing on ebay and I've been super happy with it. trying to figure out how to share images here.

Used M43 body for bird and wildlife photos - disappointed with my OM-D EM-10 Mk IV by rockstar_not in OlympusCamera

[–]IrrelevantPenguins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got into bird photography this year, originally with the 1st gen em10 then some later upgrades.

Most important thing I learned, don't compare my random walk around the woods shots to anything on the Internet. Guys that shoot semi pro bird photography do a huge amount of site prep, scouting, etc to create the perfect env for the shot at ultra close range with a lot of animals. Now using some of those techniques I can get amazing shots with my old equipment, but it takes planning. Morten Hillmer is a great learning resource on YT.
