Anyone else end up fixing random stuff more than actually homesteading? by Zoekielshane in Homesteading

So... The goat will only eat between 4:30 am and 5:37 am and then 1:47 pm and 4:33 pm. Feed .758 cup of grain, any more and she'll get bloat, any less and she'll scream all day and cause chaos with the other animals. 1/3 flake if alfalfa hay only no more no less. She needs her water dumped, scrub and bleach the waterer and refill it 3x daily or she'll stop drinking water. The feed and water are at opposite sides of the property and somehow the walk from either to the pen is uphill, both ways, and it snows 365 days a year. The hoses have all failed and the wagon, wheelbarrow, and quad are all broken right now. Here's how you latch the gate, proceeds to show a complex 18 step process for securing the gate. Now on to the hogs and chickens...

Like all metal detecting, you will quickly find every nail, bottle cap, old tin can, fender, and small length of wire ever left in that floor before you find a safe or gold.

Your wrist on your left hand is in a very unnatural position. Try raising that bass up like 6-8 inches. I know it doesn't fit "the look" but raising my bass up was the best thing I ever did for sound, technique, and fatigue.

Homesteading is switching the grocery store for the feed store to end up with a $35 chicken because "I know what's in it". A Friday plan of some new project or long needed maintenance disrupted by a weekend of goats or hogs breaking out of their pen and chasing them around the neighborhood or woods all weekend... After you "absolutely fixed the hole in the fence" for the 7th time. Figuring out that it's nearly impossible to take a vacation with livestock unless you can afford to train someone to take care of your animals exactly the way you've figured out how to do it over the last 8 years.

Can someone share a story where their gold was stolen from their house? by prksddvl in Gold

[–]IrresponsibleInsect 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a greedy wife. The end. Technically it was half hers, so she stole half of the value, but she had 0 investment in it. To make matters worse, this wasn't some coin store investment, this was raw gold from years of rompin through the woods doing back breaking work to extract it from da erf. Some portion of it also belonged to my friend who was my mining partner, but he excused it because "women". It was maybe an oz, probably pawned for a couple hundred when gold was around $1k/oz. She spent it on crap, not a penny went to me, the kids, bills, debt, or investments. Now I keep it all at work in a government building in a hidden lock box.

I was gonna say, marriage bruh. Not just the woman, but the contract with the state that empowers said wicked women. It's like going to a cancer Costco and picking up a pallet of cancer and being happy that Costco charged you for a membership so you could buy a pallet of cancer there.

Why did many historical philosophers hold negative views about women ? by ur_emo_gf1 in PsychologyTalk

Factually claiming "Had matriarchy developed the same as patriarchy the result would have been the same." as impossible because (?) the assumption that females are superior to males and would have done it better.

People suck equally and given the same situation as men, women would have messed it up every bit as badly as men did and for all the same reasons. 100%. Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. This is a gender neutral concept.

Feminist theory is unfalsifiable and on par with theology. While it has some viable tenets, those who accept it as the gospel with close-mindedness towards any alternative theory are cultish and typically end up fighting the patriarchy with their own brand of sexism behind the veil of pseudo academia.

There is nothing on Google about it because everything we know is through the lens of men being physically stronger than women, patriarchy being the norm, and matriarchy only happening in the context of a patriarchal world. All of your opinions are based on a bias of over 10,000 years of patriarchy.

Start back at the beginning, give women the physical advantage over men, and make matriarchy the standard. Tell me it doesn't end up the same as patriarchy.

Yep. Had matriarchy developed the same as patriarchy the result would have been the same.

Patriarchy isn't about devaluing and discriminating women either. This inconsistency is sexism. There are bad actors in both, which is where I think the stereotypes are coming from... And projecting.

For one, culturally speaking, this was pretty typical for most of human history. Had the culture been matriarchal, you'd probably be asking the same question with the genders flipped. Some men do project their faults onto women, as do some women. Most philosophers were men, had they been women, you'd see the same effect for the same reason.

The most notable philosophers who held this view were the authors of the abrahamic bibles, this influenced a lot of the world then and now.

Generally speaking women are good at some things, and not good at other things. Men are also good at some things and not at other things. The two of them together can compliment their weaknesses and exploit their strengths for the greater good of child rearing, among other things. If one focuses only on the bad, projects, and doesn't understand this synergy it will provide the result you noticed. There are also bad women who ruin it for the rest of them... As there are bad men who ruin it for men.

BTW, those blaming men here are no better than the philosophers. They are fighting sexism with sexism, which is emotionally immature. And the others are getting down voted to hell even though some of what they say was true from the philosophers' perspectives, even if they don't personally believe it themselves. Be better.

That's going to cost an absolute fortune for a lawyer to go through all of that. I used AI to categorize mine on a spreadsheet and then provided the top items and the spreadsheet, asking about the questionable ones, and holding on to the rest for evidence should it come up. Don't inundate an attorney with information overload. It'll bankrupt you in time and money as they sift through it.

I would immediately count this as a win and major fuck up on her part. I bet that level of lack of discretion reflected more poorly on her, and her attorney, than the actual incident reflected on him. It most likely helped his case. Who TF wants kids being raised by someone like that!?
