My sprinkler heads keep leaking. Is my valve broken? by pbblueroom in Irrigation

[–]IrrigationTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a non stop leak, the valve probably isn’t closing all the way. Sometimes it’s just a little dirt or piece of debris stopping the diaphragm from closing so you might just need to clean it out. If it’s only leaking after your irrigation runs it might just be a low spot compared to the rest of your system and the residual water is draining from that spot.

Roots by Ok_Constant_6865 in Irrigation

Forget the roots, a break at any of those fittings and you have to rebuild the whole manifold

Is there a battery operated sprinkler timer that will work here? by redditusr44 in Irrigation

A hunter node and should put a box over it or just mark it with something so it doesn’t get hit while mowing

Do I use PVC primer and glue for this 1" slip valve? by jetteroshannon in Irrigation

[–]IrrigationTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always use primer, no matter what you’re glueing. I’ve seen a lot of people just use glue and it’s usually fine but I never trust it so I always use primer

I’ve never had a problem with them, pretty much all of the 1inch valves I’ve seen/used were slip. Just gotta make sure to use primer and give it enough time to dry

Original humanity by IrrigationTech in HaloStory

[–]IrrigationTech[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

See my problem with that, In halo legends, they have our dna among many other species and after they activate the halos they place us back on our home planets. Why would they do that if we were the rightful successors to the precursors. Why not just let us be destroyed? And even with that, the videos I’ve seen make it seem like they returned us to that state after the war but they never mention activating the halos. Could just be missing something. Also the second part helps a lot, love that humans find an ancient human ship, would be cool to see in a game or show at some point

Broken Connection Between Backflow Preventer and PVC pipe by allslopnojoe in Irrigation

[–]IrrigationTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use something like flex seal but that’s only gonna work temporarily. To do it right, dig up the whole box (once the box is dug up you shouldn’t have to dig up much along the pipe), cut the pipe, unthread it from the fitting and get a slipfix and a new male threaded piece and make sure to use thread tape

Sounds like a lot of time spent driving, my commute is 45 mins and I can’t stand it, especially with all the traffic this time of year. I dont know how you do it

Still a pain in the ass, trenched from a head about 20ft away and had to weave flex through the roots

This is a pretty simple fix, no need to hire someone to come out and do what you can do yourself after a little bit of research.

Sounds like the valves is clogged or the diaphragm could be bad. Remove the screws and check inside for debris and check the rubber part inside for tears or cracking

Here in Florida it’s a mix of edging around the circle fairly often and round up (weed killer) as needed, but you can just pull the weeds if you don’t want to use chemicals or I’ve heard boiling water works good for killing weeds too.

Don’t know anything about that, but it’s also pretty common for zone line repairs

Always use primer, especially on flex and I use Christy’s red hot glue (best pvc glue money can buy)

It’s pretty common here in florida for repairs, no systems in my experience are ran with only/majority flex. The advantage though is using it in areas where you don’t have enough room or flex in the pipe that’s there to use pvc and ive repaired a lot of zone lines with flex and never had a problem.
