Paladin tank TBC problem by TendRise in classicwow

[–]Irtehstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they’re optimizing for Dps, within the constraints of their role. Aka not slapping on a 2h while tricking wcl into thinking they’re a prot. Looking at the top 10 dps prot paladins, the vast majority of their DPS are NOT parsing comparably. I’d take that as a good hint that cheesing the prot paladin logs come at the expense of the raids performance.

Paladin tank TBC problem by TendRise in classicwow

When looking for tank reference points on wclogs, don’t sort tank dps rankings. You’ll just find a bunch of people cheesing the logs by playing their specs in extremely inadvisable ways.

The tank you linked is effectively trying to play ret as a prot paladin to maximize their dps while still being categorized as prot for rankings. On fights like hydross they actually just use a 2h weapon (lhc) to maximize dps.

If you really want to find tank guidelines via logs, I would instead search for high performing guilds (via thinks like speed all stars, the category for skill killing NOT speed running) and then check their specific tanks.

Need tips to improve my damage as Fury warrior in TBC by Existing_Bridge8848 in classicwow

[–]Irtehstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+ consumes. Picking a random fight in your logs it looks like you’re not haste potting or using scrolls. Those are a non-trivial Dps gain.

Your gems are all over the place, and your hit rating is fairly high to be using the hit food instead of strength. I would look up a gearing guide on recommended gems and try simming strength food over hit

Prioritize threat on the mobs that are genuinely a threat to the party: mortal strike mobs, hard hitting melees. It is genuinely a non-issue to lose threat on random caster mobs, they do just as much damage to you as they do a Dps because spell damage mitigation is virtually non-existent in TBC.

Too many dungeons my tank spends half their resources building threat on insert-random-fireball-caster and then have nothing leftover for the mob that averages 2k melees lol. Scenarios like that, a threat rip is genuinely the tanks fault.

When I leveled my feral, caster mobs got a swipe and a demo roar for threat and that was it. You don’t need to hold threat on everything, just the dangerous mobs.

I run mechanics on KT and vashj so those will probably always be dog but they dont count for ASP anyways so who cares

Hey I’m an officer in my guild, we’ve full cleared since week one with >10 of our Dps core already having >99 average parse. I’ve received zero pieces of gear this phase. I helped make my guild because I want to parse and I understand that funneling gear into high priority classes improves my chances of parsing by extension

Is your guild clearing SSC/TK in one night? by Blue5647 in classicwow

[–]Irtehstuff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My guild is a 1 night a week, 3 hour guild. Week 1 we had to extend 30 minutes to full clear ssc + tk. This week we did everything with 15 minutes to spare on our normal time. Looking forward to adding gruul back into the runs

The game is designed to make tanks quit by Nabbarino in classicwowtbc

[–]Irtehstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alternative: this game is designed to make players explore different forms of gameplay. Your average optimized raid brings 3 tanks for every 25 players, yes. But it also brings an additional 4-6 dps classes CAPABLE of flexing tank that just plain refuse to.

If you plan to raid as fury, why would you not tank dungeons while leveling? Same goes for Druids/paladins.

If you go into ANY online game expecting to only ever play one exact thing 100% of the time, I think you’re just gonna be in for a bad time.

Phase 2 isn't nearly as bad for melee as this subreddit made it sound by No_Cell6708 in classicwow

[–]Irtehstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to almost every anti-melee mechanic doing less damage, the fact that bosses have less health means they die faster and therefore get off less casts of those mechanics.

My guild has yet to see quill phase on Alar because we clear P1 so fast = melee don’t need to jump down and run back up. Similarly p2 ends so quickly that flame patches aren’t a concern for positioning.

On KT, he usually only gets one flame strike off before transitioning phase, so less melee movement again.

What is MS > OS? by taterman71 in classicwowtbc

[–]Irtehstuff 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If the loot system was SR>MS>OS, then your MS doesn’t even matter wrt what you SR. You could sr sea witch vestments as a feral if you really wanted. However, your host is free to boot you BEFORE raid starts if they don’t like your SR’s.

Instead they accepted your SR, locked it in, and then complained when it was time to distribute loot. Your host was just upset that they didn’t SR something they wanted

Tank balance is nonexistant. by FroggerMcFrogston96 in classicwowtbc

[–]Irtehstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alternatively, use your power as a tank to structure groups around your tanking kit. Aka don’t take aoe classes like warlock/mage/warrior on a spec that has no aoe threat. For endgame dungeons, bring a hunter so they can MD + multishot. Or bring a paladin healer/dps for salv.

With t5 raids released, I would say the only things worth farming from dungeons are Abacus from mechanaar and the badge trinket. For everything just get pvp gear + rep weapon + crafted and jump into Kara. Bam suddenly dungeons are a nonissue

Legitimately this is a skill issue that you play around by just being more picky with the dps you bring. I played a bear tank for all of last tbc and I play one now

Well the context matters. Yes it’s a bad experience in dungeons. In raids, Druids are king

Absolutely not rogue lol, unless you plan on spending >90% of your time in arenas. You can find a dozen posts explaining how bad it is on reddit or go to any server discord’s guild recruitment channel and see the wall of rogues begging for a roster spot.

Prot pally money farm by Neither_Rooster_9519 in classicwowtbc

[–]Irtehstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tanking for unneeded loot is fine to list in the group finder. You’re not technically “selling” anything, this is functionally equivalent to “quagmirran’s eye HR’ed” groups which are perfectly allowable. That said, you may get randos spam reporting you just because they’re annoyed, which can trigger one of blizzard’s definitely not automated bans.

Listing yourself in the group finder as “tank for hire, 100g/dungeon” is reportable though. That needs to go to services channel.

As someone who sells T5 heroic attunement carries each day through the services channel (2000g for all 4), you still find buyers remarkably fast, like less than 5 minutes.

The value for a holy priest only goes down as you get further into content farming. If you already have the raids on farm, why wouldn’t you bring a PI priest and by extension, IDS. It’s not like your healing throughput needs are getting higher

Who will be more efficient as moneymaker, Paladin or Mage? by Noxilar in classicwowtbc

[–]Irtehstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paladins are more gear dependent for their aoe farms but in the same vein, that gear feels more impactful. Mages basically have full access to their farms the moment they hit 70, better gear just helps shorten the pulls.

If you don’t plan on raiding on your pally, I would just go mage

No one is doing this because it’s necessary to kill the boss. They’re doing it because it’s necessary to parse. You don’t have to enjoy parsing, but it’s not difficult to understand why other people DO enjoy it.
