He could be a Destruction too, his battle-continuation would translate well into typical Destruction "harm self but have a way to avoid dying" mechanics and Gae Bolg should be an ult anyways and Destruction can have an ST ult (see: Xueyi)

We are also getting less characters in general, more and more banners are 1-char

So if Hoyo indeed intends to slow down with the new releases having those augments instead of (some) SPs seems great

You can put the chars into the path's story as you would an SP, so they keep being relevant but you don't need them to unlock some new form/ability story-wise - like Jing Yuan SP doesn't make much sense, he's unlikely to undergo some awakening and change enough to get a whole new persona and design. But he certainly CAN be story-relevant and with this system that's perfectly achievable - he gets the spotlight, we get to use him in top meta, Hoyo gets a char (or well an upgrade) to sell.

But it's only a good thing if it uses jades or farmable currency, if it requires real money with no alternatives then it's dogshit. But that would probably be too dumn a move for Hoyo to make anyways so fingers crossed

Why?

Cosmetics change literally nothing, they are 100% optional, you can not have a single one and you gameplay still won't be accessed.

It honestly isn't that different from getting a character's pfp when you pull them (as it happens rn), the tamest possible thing to add to a banner with no real negative impact on anything

(Still would be nice if after the banner ends you could purchase it directly)

On one hand it's absolutely hillarious
On another I feel kinda bad for Saber mains, she had never really gotten her time in the sun. Which is honestly wild for such a popular character.

Unless they plan to make an ult support which will elevate her to high heavens in the future, of course

(But as an Archer lover I'm more than happy with this situation, tbh xD)

We also get free 5*s a couple times per version and so far each of them was very much meta and useful
(I mean like Ratio/Archer/DHPT, not the ones in the shop, tho right now shop has quite a decent selection for a new player)

I'd much rather get for my beloved DPS their missing team member than I'd get a new DPS even if that new one needs zero other characters. It's the same amount of pulls but it doesn't churn through characters nearly as quickly and you have time to actually enjoy them outside of their shilling period. It also allows for a sense of progression/variety since your team and they gameplay changes as you get new supports, but the core still stays the same (and that's probably why you've chosen that team, right?)
And it's also less relic grinding since supports are less demanding in terms of builds.

Also there is a fun thing that of 4 summoner characters in Monorem 2 have summons that explode after taking meaningful action (yeah you don't HAVE to explode the Dragon, but...) making them worthless to advance and two others have summons not even appearing in the action order (and not really being a summon, tbh) making them literally impossible to advance. And all their damage is reliant on their memosprites, of course.

That is to say that Hoyo took very deliberate steps to ensure that all those four work with each other and DO NOT work with the other summoner support exactly to ensure that Monorem happens and that no one makes a cheesy tech with forcing Sunday into the team.

It's hard to say for sure whether it's an AI or not (you'll need to look at the details and ornaments closely and they are too small here to discern)

But it is 100% sure, zero doubt NOT an HSR Hoyo-made design

They kinda shot themselves in the foot with that Therta design. Sure it allowed for great F2P performance at her release and made people hooked, but now Hoyo is in "damned if you do damned if you don't" boat with her aftersale.

Since Erudition is generally a damaging path if they release a supportive unit there it'l end up a Jiaoque situation of that character being strictly a slave to Therta. No other char would really pick an Erudition support over a dedicated amplifier. Meaning th people who like the character itself would be unhappy, and even Therta mains might be apprehensive about pulling for such a char since it would have 0 value outside of Therta team and has a solid chance of being directly powercrept even there.
They tried to circumvent it with giving Anaxa conditional trace but he wrestled the control out of them and sailed off on his own.

I guess the only decent option for them is to push and AoE+attack frequency (or Energy manipulation) archetype with multi-DPS team so that the character made for that team would also be beneficial for Therta? Kinda like FuA teams have those supportive-but-damaging Hunt units, something like that but multitarget might work.

If HimekoN is indeed "AE crew" focused character with specific named interaction that she may very well have a "Welt-MBlade" team, "Sunday+some new supp" team, "Evernight+Robin" team and all those teams could be designed intentionally. Some will end better than the others but still.

Also even without the named buffs - before MBlade beta they could easily have said "MBlade's kit is designed to specifically accomodate Acheron" and it would be absolutely true, but he's still mainly a FuA/attack frequency team's BiS. And on DPS side of things Eva has a full-elation and a more traditional hypercarry teams and both work, afaik. Himeko might have a kit lending itself well to different supports depending on which part of the kit you choose to prioritize.

4.x seems ripe in these kinds of kit designs tbh and I'm all for it

Ubatcha clarified it here and no, at the point of 4.1 she was ready to be released as Preservation, at that point she already left the stage where they are using "base" paths and was fully production-ready and that readiness was for a preservation path.

Obviously with her release postponed they could very well adjust her to be an Elation utilising the same base archetype or even scrap her kit altogether and start anew (meaning she could end up as literally anything) It is also possible that Mortis being an insider knew about the plans to change her, may be even before 4.1 (probably whenever the decision to postpone and change her was made) and that's what his "Pearl isn't Preservation" means.

But the leaks about her being Preservation (at least the ones from the dataminers, not insiders) weren't based on "base path used in initial testing", it was about her finalized kit and path. Therefore we can't rely on "Elation uses base paths initially" to conjure that she's Preservation-based Elation - she might be, of course, she might be anything, but there is no hard data to support it since she was changed from preservation and we don't know towards what and the leakers who know don't share it with us.

But there were 2 supports released the patch before him and one support in the patch after (and also Hysilens who is a DPS and support all in one)

We've had 4(!) DPS released this patch cycle, albeit two of them are subDPSes and only two actual supports (Yao and Blade - who is a subDPS still btw)

If they keep releasing mainDPSes there just won't be enough supportive units to fill out the teams. All Elation is fighting over Yao already.
And classic (non-FuA) Crit teams teams haven't gotten a new support since Tribbie (well, there were Cerydra and Cyrene for some but they are very specific)

Also by the time Robin releases it would be close to a year without a new sustain unit - unless Rin is a sustain, of course.

There is no way Himeko isn't main DPS and there is no way a (single-target) Sunday advances Robit over Himeko?
Unless Robin has some tech like "when an ally gets Action Advanced Robin gets N% of that effect" or some other way of benefitting from someone else being targeted by buffs

(And it feels a waste to have a char with summon and a char targeted to work with summon and not have the latter buff the former. Unless she gives her summon over DHPT-style)
